Mapleshade slowly walked, her tail dragging on the ground and her ears dropped to the sides of her head. The sun had begun to set and she was walking down different nest to find one that was just right. To many nest had dogs or other cats in their nest, but she wanted one special for her kits a place without any cats or dogs. and they could live there alone. She then put down the kits on a patch of grass next to a fence and leapt up another fence, the backyard was clear of dogs and the house looked like it to. There was a small opening to the nest and she cautiously entered.

"You don't wanna go in there." A voice said. Mapleshade looked over and saw a cloudy white tom with a sparkly yellow collar looking down at her.

"Those twolegs kits are very Routh less, they'll pull the tail of any kitten and lick any cat." The cloudy cat mimicked the body movements of a twoleg pulling a cats tail or licking them. Mapleshade was disgusted, what in the world is wrong with twolegs? If she was alone without a litter of kits to take care of she would defiantly say she could live with something like that, but the happiness and healthiness of her kits depended on her.

"Thank you." Mapleshade walked back to the tall fence.

"No problem dearie." The stranger leapt back on what Mapleshade was assuming his side of the fence. Mapleshade picked up her kits again and kept walking down the long line of twoleg nest. As tired as she was, sleeping in the middle of the open was not such a great idea. She then spotted a large tree in one of the backyards of their nest. Mapleshade put down the kits well hidden and then jumped on the fence as the branch hung just at a right amount of height for her to reach. She then jumped on the branch and explored the tree as she made it to the main stump, in it she saw a large hole big enough to fit any cat inside. This was an easy kill if there was any prey in it. Mapleshade then realized a squirrel could be in this hole and she slowly brought her paw up to the hole, she prepared the right time to shove her paw in there and search for any living beings. She shoved her paw into the hole and horrifying screeches came from it.

She clenched her paw into a fist to catch it and successfully had it in between her paws, she yanked her arm out and bit down on the squirrels stomach. It screamed louder but soon silenced as blood gushed from its mouth, at least she and the kits had something to eat now. Mapleshade crept into the hole to see that it was big enough for her and the kits to fit. She sighed in relief and quickly went to retrieve the kits after dropping the dead animal in the hole.

She leapt to the other side of the fence and took Patchkit in her jaws before realizing she couldn't take all of them at once.  if she did there was a large chance of them falling and getting hurt, she went back up to the branch with Patchkit and padded back to the hole, placing him inside gently. She then went back and grabbed Larchkit and after him Petalkit. Once all of the kits were inside she crept inside of the hole and wrapped her body around the kits, licking them to get them clean. She looked outside of the hole getting a good view of at least the entire Thunderclan territory and Riverclan camp. She wished that Appledusk could come and see this with her but she didn't want to be greedy and pry him away from the only thing that made Appledusk....Appledusk. She knew that they would meet again some day as she put her head between her paws and let her eyelids slowly close shut.

Mapleshade awoke the next day to see her kits looking out the hole in awe, standing dangerously close to the edge. Mapleshade nudged them away and let her tail curl around them.

"Mama look. Its snowing!" Patchkit said soothingly. He would never shout unless it was rightfully needed. Mapleshade knew this was partly bad news as prey would be harder to catch and it would be less likely for it to appear if the family is lucky.
