In this fanfic, Ravenwing was murdered by Mapleshade the day they were caught meeting Appledusk with her kits. Mapleshade, Appledusk, and their litter continue to live happily in their clans separately. What challenges will they face?
Mapleshade looked over her resting kits, thinking they were not as safe here as she thought they were. An idea soon popped in her head. If Mapleshade could give some or one of her kits to Appledusk to take home, they would be safe. It would be hard but she had to keep them safe they cant live in fear!
Mapleshade nudged the kits awake and they all complained. "Shh! Were going to go see Appledusk." Mapleshade smiled at her kits. The kits were suddenly energized and were more then ready to leave. As they walked Patchkit stayed magnetized to his mother as always while Larchkit and Petalkit went ahead. "Yay were here!" Petalkit leapt up and down. "Quiet down, go lay in the den until I get back." Mapleshade nudged the kits in the den and they all piled together.
"So... You want me to take Patchkit and Petalkit to Riverclan?" Appledusk looked with concern as Mapleshade stared at the resting kits in the den. "Yes... The clan is catching on and I'm scared they are in danger." Mapleshade picked up Patchkit and Petalkit and laid them on her mates back. tears began to grow in her eyes as she gave them both a lick, "Promise me you will take care of them?" Mapleshade looked at Appledusk. "I promise..." Both of them touched noses and looked at each other. Appledusk smiled then began to swim across the river with the two kits on his back, fast asleep. "Come here with them every night ok?!" Mapleshade called out with tears streaming down her eyes. "I will!" Appledusk called out before disappearing into the camp. Mapleshade looked down at her paws, only one kit laid there as there was meant to be three. The tears landed on the small kits body as she picked it up and speeded back home, the weight of two kits wasn't there either.
She crashed through the entrance of the camp and went into the nursery. She looked around and then looked at the wall to the den. She began to scratch and bite at it until a large hole opened up that led to the outside. She then took a deep breath and shouted, "MY KITS! THEIR GONE!"
Shouting and screaming went through the camp as people searched for the kits, setting patrols and such to find them as Frecklewish comforted Mapleshade. "Mama.. Where Petalkit and Patchkit?" Larchkit whimpered as the panicked cats filled the nursery. Mapleshade looked at Larchkit then at Rabbitfur. The elder stared Larchkit and Mapleshade down, she returned it right back with a smirk. "Mama I want to see Petalkit and Patchkit!" Larchkit mewed while shoving Mapleshade's shoulder with tears forming in his eyes. Mapleshade was so lost in Rabbitfur's trance that she didn't even hear Larchkit. Larchkit sat down in between Mapleshade's paws and looked down with his ears pinned to his head as all he could hear was the shouting of cats around the camp.
He then flipped his head up and began sobbing which caught everyone's attention. Mapleshade looked at the small kit in shock as he continued sobbing louder then natures sound. "I want to see my brother and sister! Where are they?!" Larchkit sobbed as he hissed in his mothers face. Mapleshade didn't say anything, she hugged Larchkit in an attempt to calm him down. "You will see them again Larchkit.... I promise." Mapleshade whispered in his ear.
After a long day of trying to find the kits, Oakstar announced them stolen or dead. All eyes were on Mapleshade as they tried to make her feel better, but nothing made her happier then when sundown had begun. She was about to wake up Larchkit when she felt a bite on her ear. "Ow!" She looked up with a snarl to see Rabbitfur staring down at her. "I know what you did Mapleshade, you can not escape the truth." He hissed. Larchkit was now awake and quivering between Mapleshade's paws. "Leave me alone you Fox-hearted elder!" Mapleshade leaped onto the elder and gave them a scar on their eye before picking up Larchkit and running out of camp. It was still sundown but she didn't care. "Mama where are we going?" Larchkit said shakily. Mapleshade said nothing, all she wanted to do was get away from Thunderclan territory. She leapt over logs and stepped on many twigs before soon arriving at Riverclan camp, just in time to see Appledusk come out of the camp with Patchkit and Petalkit. "Larchkit!" Both of them shouted, leaping down from Appledusk's back and running over to Larchkit. Petalkit reached up to touch Larchkit and Patchkit cried into his mothers fur.
"Appledusk I think we need to come up with another idea." Mapleshade said. Before Appledusk could say anything he was attacked. "Papa!" Larchkit shrieked. The attacker was Oakstar and a patrol came right after him. "I knew it!" Oakstar yowled scratching Mapleshade in the chest, causing her to shout in agony, dropping Larchkit. "You traitor! These kits do not belong to my son!" Oakstar spat looking down at the small kits. All of the cats including Frecklewish hissed and judged them, biting at Appledusk and giving disgusting looks to the kits. "Get away from them!" Mapleshade hissed as she swatted her paws at the cats surrounding her.
"Mapleshade, you are hereby exiled from Thunderclan!" Oakstar said, rising his voice above all the cats. Mapleshade was shocked as everything was happening so fast, she thought that after Ravenwing had died they would live happily in different clans. "No please! At least let my kits stay.." Mapleshade pleaded looking up at the leader as she cowered before him, keeping her kits close. "No! You tricked me Mapleshade! I treated those monsters as if they were my kin! They deserve to die!" Frecklewish spat. "Watch your tone! Those are my kits your talking to!" Appledusk hissed. "Silence! The kits are welcome to stay in Thunderclan and grow to be warriors. You will leave our territory at once Mapleshade!" Oakstar announced. Mapleshade looked down at her kits with her eyes filled with wet clouds. "Mama?" Patchkit whimpered as Mapleshade nudged her kits in front of Oakstar. "Fine..." Mapleshade stood tall again as Oakstar and the patrol took the kits in their mouths. Frecklewish having a face of disgust as she picked up Petalkit. "Wait mom!" Larchkit reached out to Mapleshade. "Always stay together ok?" Mapleshade gave her kits a lick and backed away when the was snarled at.
"Chase them out." Oakstar hissed turning around and walking away with the kits. "Mom!" Petalkit shrieked as the patrol leapt onto Appledusk and Mapleshade. Biting and nipping at their legs with sharp teeth. Appledusk managed to slip him self into the river and swim back to his camp as Mapleshade struggled and shoved them off, running towards the direction of Windclan territory. She could hear the cats hissing yowling and chanting "Yeah you better run!"
"Don't come back Fox-heart!"
Mapleshade let tears run down her face as she passed Fourtrees and entered Windclan territory, running just pass the camp and to the large barn. She looked around and then saw a small hole she could fit through. She squeezed through it and saw a large bail of hay, she collapsed onto it mournfully as she cried herself to sleep.
