Senku heard a loud knock at the door when he was just about to have his lunch.
"WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT HAVING UNEXPECTED GUESTS OVER?!" he crossed his arms in anger.
The knocking didn't stop despite Senku's answer.
"WHO IS IT??" Senku yelled.
No one knocked afterwards.
Senku sighed and opened the door. Two guys wearing the same uniform were standing straight, and there was Ruri too.
"Our apologies to bother you on this fine afternoon, sir," said one of them sternly.
He had brown hair, green eyes, a scar on his right cheek and a lock of long hair that hung between his eyes.
The other one had an androgynous-looking face with medium-length blond hair that covered the left side of his face.
"And? What brings you here?" Senku picked his ear with his pinky.
"Senku, hi! I-i can explain to you," Ruri came closer towards Senku.
"Since we're both paired up for the Science Fair, I've decided to visit you," she smiled brightly.
"It took quite a while to find your address since Lady Ruri doesn't have a cellphone," stated the blonde guard with a wide smile.
"She's already here, so I may ask for you two boys to leave," said Senku with a hand gesture that looks like as if he was shooing them away.
"No," said the taller guard.
"What?" Senku looked at him while raising an eyebrow.
"Lady Ruri shouldn't be left unattended with a stranger like you. Anything bad could happen to her, and we're both responsible for her safety. Therefore, rules are rules," he replied while pointing his finger at Senku.
"How could I appear to be a stranger? I'm her classmate after all," chuckled Senku.
"K-kinro, I mean... He's not wrong! Lady Ruri can protect herself!!" said the guard.
"RULES ARE RULES, GINRO!" replied Kinro.
"You always say rules this, rules that... Give us a break," Ginro walked away from the house.
His brother chased him and bonked his head.
"OUCH, THAT HURTS! WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!"
"You need to be taught a valuable lesson!"
They both had a short argument outside the house since Senku locked them both out.
"Are they always like this?" whispered Senku to Ruri.
"Indeed, they do," she replied.
Ruri looked around the place and saw some food that caught her eye.
"Did you cook that, Senku?"
Senku didn't respond to her question.
"Umm... Senku?" She waved her hand in front of his face. Senku was startled as his mind wandered off to other places.
"Oh, ehem... Sorry about that," he cleared his throat.
"Yes, I made that. But, I've lost my appetite," Senku looked at the food with disgust.
"I see, no worries," she gave off a sweet smile.
They both kept quiet for a moment. This was the first time that both had a normal conversation. It felt awkward.
"So..." Ruri looked at Senku nervously.
"What will we be doing for our project?"
"She has a shy demeanour," Senku thought to himself.
"What type of science are you interested in?" he asked her.
"Type... of science?" she thought for a moment.
"You know, something like life science, earth science and all,"
"I'm not sure. All types of sciences seem interesting to me," Ruri giggled softly.
"I don't know much about it. This is the first time I've ever been to school, so I'm clueless," stated Ruri.
"It's sort of like I'm living under a rock, I know," She said nervously.
