Chapter 5

Senku went back to his room, feeling relieved that he didn't have to interact with anyone else for the time being. He changed into his pyjamas and went for a good night's sleep.

When he woke up the next day...

"CRAP... LATE FOR SCHOOl!"

He rushed to the bathroom to get ready as classes had already started an hour ago. This was the first time that he came late to school. It ended up affecting his whole mood for the day.

Meanwhile...

Taiju was trying to look for Senku as soon as he left his house, but after 10 minutes of searching, he went to school anyway. Since he didn't want to walk alone, he decided to accompany Yuzuriha.

"Well... it's not always that I get to walk with you," Taiju said to Yuzuriha.
"I know that, but it's alright!" she said with a smile.

"What happened to Senku? Isn't he coming to school today?" asked Yuzuriha as she put her bag down after arriving at the front gate.

"I don't know, honestly. I've been looking for Senku everywhere, and I can't seem to..." replied Taiju, who couldn't finish his sentence when Yuzuriha shrieked out loud.

"SPEAK OF THE DEVIL TAIJU. HE HAS ARRIVED!" 

Taiju was in shock since he thought Yuzuriha had a problem. She was only celebrating the arrival of their friend. As soon as Senku walked into the school compound, other people started cheering as if he had won an Oscar award.

"SENKU, I WAS WORRIED DEAD! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL THIS TIME?" Taiju tried to hug him but got rejected with a simple hand gesture.

"Just leave me the fuck alone," Senku walked past them feeling annoyed.

"Why would people cheer for someone late for school?" Senku thought in his mind.

The irony is that Senku was quite early to school - as usual. He woke up to the sound of his digital alarm clock at 6:23 am, but since the alarm clock was upside down, he saw the number as 9:32 am. 

"What's up with him?" whispered Taiju to Yuzuriha.
"I'm not sure, to be honest," replied Yuzuriha.

The other students went to their respective classes quite early. 

In Senku's class, the students murmured about the day. 

"Hey, haven't you heard? There'll be a new girl in our class,"
"A new student? She must be pretty!"
"I wonder what she'll look like..."

Everyone heard the door creaking as it opened. It scared the shit out of some people who thought there was some spirit coming into their classroom.

"YOU FREAKING SCARED ME!" said a random boy.

"Could you please introduce yourself?" said the class monitor. 
"Oh, hi... I'm Ruri from Karva!" 

"カ ル バ ?" said Senku in his mind.

Senku nor his classmates had ever heard of a place like that in Japan before.

"I would have to conduct some research after this. Maybe I'll ask the others after school,"

"I knew it! She's such a pretty lady," murmured Senku's classmate, who seemed to melt just by looking at Ruri.

Senku looked carefully at Ruri's face.

"It's as if I've met her before, and I've even befriended her too. But where did I meet her in the first place? How did I start my friendship with her anyways?" asked Senku to himself.

Ruri gave a closer look at Senku too but looked away when she made eye contact with him. 
"Do I know him?"

"Well, I guess I would have to wait until I get back home," Senku thought to himself.

The leek-haired teenage boy came back from school feeling exhausted as PE was the last class of the day.

"How am I supposed to complete my assignments like this?" Senku said to himself and fell asleep immediately as he lay down on the floor.

The dream he had was somewhat bizarre. 

He found himself in a beautiful park full of colourful flower beds. He looked and acted different from his usual self, also being younger by 10 years. Young Chizora looked around the park and chased an orange dragonfly until he bumped into a blonde girl around his age.

"Hey, watch where you're going next time!" said the girl angrily.
"Hahaha! My apologies," Chizora replied while scratching his head.

The girl appeared to be tsundere-like. 

"Here, let me help you up," Chizora lent his hand to the girl.
"No, I don't need your help," she got up from the ground while removing some grass from her dress.

"I'm Chizora. How about you?"
"I'm Kira..." replied the girl.

"That's a nice name! Say, do you want to be friends?" asked the young, curious boy with a smile, hoping she would accept his offer.

"Not now..." Kira left the park, leaving Chizora behind.

"H-hey! Wait up..." 

Chizora thought that he would never be able to see Kira again. He blamed himself for the terrible first impression he gave off earlier. But it doesn't stop there...

Senku woke up from his sleep with a shocked face even he himself couldn't explain. He started to shake, and he looked at his hands.

"Déjà vu... But how?"
He continued to shake uncontrollably and started to tear up. He looked at the window and saw a reflection of Chizora.

"Why..."

"I was so cheerful and excited back then... What happened to me now??" Senku wiped away his tears and decided to go visit Dr Xeno. He jotted down whatever he dreamt of in his journal and rushed to his mentor's place by foot.

"Hmmm... that sounds interesting," replied Xeno after Senku explained what happened.

"How often does this déjà vu happen to you?" asked the scientist as he was about to take notes.
"For some reason, it just started today. It's like I've seen that girl before, but I'm not exactly sure,"

"Are you sure you're not hallucinating?" asked Stanley as he was about to light up his cigarette. 
"You can go hallucinate on your own, Stan," replied Xeno, who looked agitated.

Luna was about to burst into laughter, but she kept it to herself. 

"So, you said that you had a dream about a young boy and girl meeting each other for the first time. You also stated that you recognize the new girl from somewhere that you're not certain of, am I right?" asked Xeno, who looked at Senku.

"Yes, yes," replied Senku.
"There should be a pattern somewhere. Don't worry, we can solve this together. What you'll do now is gather more information about this Ruri girl. You can meet up with us any time,"

Senku nodded his head and immediately left the place. 

"Do you remember the time when his father kind of like... sent him a letter or something?" asked Luna to the rest.

They took a while to process her question.

"AHA! YES, I remember," replied Xeno. 
"SOMEONE GIVE ME THE LETTER THIS INSTANCE!"

Stanley and Luna race to the counter to get the letter. Luna's hand was on top of Stanley's, but he snatched it away before she could even grab the letter.

Xeno looked back at the letter to find a particular sentence. 

"She's a special one, but I won't tell her name, or else the surprise would be ruined.
Your job is to crack the case and find out who this mysterious girl is."

"A special one? It could be anyone!" said Brody.
"Who knows it might be Luna all along?" Maya said with glee.

Everyone turned to look at Luna.

"I don't think so. You know that Senku prefers personality over..." said Luna, who was later interrupted by Stanley.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN, YOU HYPOCRITE? I THOUGHT YOU WERE THE ONE WHO WAS SENKU THIS, SENKU THAT?!"

"I-i can explain!" the pink-haired girl was terrified by the sudden voice.
"Now, now... Settle down, everyone! We will solve this eventually. But first, we should take a look at this piece of paper," said Xeno.

"Another letter? How many letters did the old guy give to him?" asked Leonard.
"We won't know... We'll just have to wait for Senku to hand them over one by one..."

Everyone gathered around to look at the second letter. What would it be about this time?
