Welcome!
SeasonalReads presents the first contest that will give you the opportunity to write a story that features one or more seasons. After all, it sets the mood and theme of the story in its own way. So, let's start our journey.
You are summoned to a mansion and right ahead there are five doors representing all five seasons; summer, monsoon, autumn, winter, and spring. Your story depends on which door you will open.
Prompts
◍ SUMMER ◍
You and your friends visit the nearest town every year during summer vacation and have the time of your lives. This year, though, you hear about random incidences of burn, all apparently caused by the sun. Something about the news strikes odd. Will you seek the truth?
◍ MONSOON ◍
The monsoon season was never your favourite. When you were out one day, it began to pour, completely drowning you. You wished for the rain to stop falling, and your request was granted. Now, an enraged god/goddess wants to talk to you about the unexpected change in weather. As if that wasn't terrible enough, you've been tasked with bringing rain back to save the planet.
◍ AUTUMN/FALL ◍
As you walk down the street toward your house, deep red and brown leaves crunch beneath your shoes, an effect of fall. You are so immersed in your thoughts that you fail to notice a car slowing beside you until someone calls your name in a voice that sends a chill down your spine.
◍ WINTER ◍
You wear another overcoat as the weather gets colder before going to visit your grandmother who lives in a village. Your little trip is going well until you notice the changes in the people residing there.
◍ SPRING ◍
While standing on your balcony on a Sunday morning and admiring the newly bloomed flowers, you see one of the flowers transform into a human and recognize them as someone you've known for a long time. However, they only came to visit in the season of spring and now you get why. How will the story continue?
