Chapter 23

Jeno looked to his phone. He saw a lot missed call from Donghae. He refused to answer the call. He throw his phone away. He rubbed his face. The sunlight coming inside his room. He don't fall sleep since last night. He stood up and felt his feet hurt. He forgot he walked on the broken vase.

"Hurmm.." He walked to his door and then opened it. There is Chaeyeon who fall sleep and she want to fall. Jeno quickly caught her body. He looked to her who sleep. 'Why she not go back?' Jeno asked inside himself. He put her body in both of his hands and then brought her to his bed. He put her at there.

"Mm.." Chaeyeon awaked now. She looked to him who sat. Jeno want to stand up. Chaeyeon hold his wrist. She sat and faced him.

"Jeno..."

"Why you not go back?" Jeno asked.

"I can't leave you." She said while looking to him.

"You should leave me.. you got a chance to leave me." Jeno said to her.

"Why you pushed me away, Jeno?" Chaeyeon asked him. She thought when she wake up from her sleep, he will not act like how he treated her last nights. But this morning, he acted cold toward her more.

"Nothing leave for us..."

"Nothing leave for us? We don't even start yet.. why you said like that.. why you pushed me away..." Chaeyeon said to him.

"I want to be alone..." He said.

"I understand you feel devastated now.. because what happened around you.. but its not mean you can chase me away."

"Chaeyeon.. just.."

"If you chase me away now... you will can't get another chance to get me back, Jeno." Chaeyeon said. She want he think he is wrong to make that decision. Jeno looked to her.

"It's better like that.." its come out from his mouth. Chaeyeon's face changed. How easy for him said like that.

"You want to end our relationship?" Chaeyeon asked him.

"I don't want to see you pitying me. I will let you go now..."

"You such a coward..." Chaeyeon said to him.

"What you want me do, Chaeyeon?" Jeno asked her.

"Let me stay! I want to be with you.. let me hold your hand and help you get through those things.." Chaeyeon asking him to allow her.

"I don't need it.."

"Why? Am i not your lover and your bestfriend? Where our relationship go? Why its become like this?" Chaeyeon asked him.

"Just go back."

"You already decide it.." She said while slowly release her grip. Jeno looked to her and don't uttered any words. Chaeyeon climbed down from bed. She stood and then released heavy sigh.

"You want to end our relationship.. but im not allow it. I'll give you time.. you need your own time." Chaeyeon said in lowered. She don't want to do like he asked.

"Hurm.."

"I'll go back now. I'll go to see your mother and help to hold your father's funeral." Chaeyeon said to him and then walked out. Jeno released a heavy sighed. He let her go walk from there. He don't stop her or do anything.

Donghae looked the young man who walked at the corridor. He went to him. That man gazed out and don't notice his presence.

"Jeno?" He called his name.

"Mmm.. uncle." Jeno lifted his head and looked to Donghae who stood in front the ward.

"When you arrive? Why you don't tell me?" Donghae said.

"Just now.. i couldn't find empty place to park my car."

"Why are you not coming with Chaeyeon? She at downstairs with your relatives." Donghae said. Jeno don't know how to answer it.

"How my mother?" He changed the topic.

"She is fine for now. About your father... i held the funeral at downstairs. Luckily, the hospital had funeral services."

"Im sorry for troubling you.. uncle." Jeno said in guilt.

"I only help as much as i can. You go visit your mother first. She must feel sad about your father's death." Donghae said.

"I'll go enter now." Donghae want to hold the knob.

"Wait.." Donghae stopped him. Jeno looked to him. Donghae struggles to bring something out from his pocket.

"Here.. i have something to give to you." Donghae said show something on his hand.

"What is this?" Jeno asked while looking to it.

"Letter from your father.." He said.

"My father?"

"People found it inside his pocket. He wrote your name on it." Donghae passed to him. There is stain of bloods on it. Jeno took it.

"Thanks.. I'll read it." He said.

"Jeno, I want you know that I already think you are as my son too.. you aren't alone. Chaeyeon and I will always with you." Donghae said. Jeno just smiled bitterly.

"I'll go find quiet place." He said. He excused himself and then brought the letter from there.  He walked to the emergency staircase. He sat on the stair. He looked to it. 'What is this? Why he suddenly wrote a letter for me?' He asked himself.

Jeno..

I'm your father. A father that you hate.

When I wrote this.. I still in right mind. I decide to write it after i bumped into you in front that cafe. Your gaze show how hate you toward me. I know you don't want to admit me as your father.

Jeno bite his lips. His father wrote something that made he felt unease suddenly. He don't understand why his father wrote like that.

I'm sorry for everything that i did to you. You don't deserve a father like me. I failed as father. I know you must feel shameful to have father like me.

Jeno feel the tears running through his cheeks. he wiped his tears.

I always bring trouble to you and your mother. I need your help for last time when I called you.. i understand you reject to help me. I'm always bring trouble to you and you still mad with me. So, its understandable.

Jeno remember what happened last time. He refused to help him. He feel regret to not help him at that time.

Jeno... I already settled what we owed Chaerim. You don't need to be haunted by that secret anymore. You should lived happily with Chaeyeon. What i did to you, it's can't be forgiven.

You had kept the secret and feel wronged toward Chaeyeon for long time. And now you should tell her the truth. Don't let Chaeyeon think bad about you.

Jeno hold the letter in hard. He can't continued to write it more but he want to read as he want to know what last paragraph that his father's wrote for him.

I apologize it from bottom of my heart. I don't know either it was late to ask forgiveness from you or not. But it's better to say now. I'm really wronged to you. I will pay my own debt after this. You don't need to worry about me.

Sorry, son. I'll change to better person and never repeat my bad behavior again. Ill become a good father to you. Will you accept my apology, son?

His tears running slowly at his cheeks. His father wrote him a letter. He asked him to forgive him. Jeno hold the letter in hard. He punch the floor to let his vent out. He really feel regret now.

'I forgive you.. dad. Why you must died? I don't get a chance to ask you forgiveness too... i really regret my actions toward you... I'm sorry.' He told his regret but now its too late already. His father already died and he don't get chance to reconcile with him.
