Jana's POV

It's been over a month and tonight is the full moon. Carys hasn't really left her room except for last full moon when we all went down to the cellar, and she's barely eating or sleeping. I think she's trying to stop the Morwal from coming out again, still strong in the darkest of times. Her physical wounds have healed, but they'll scar, she'll have a permanent reminder of that dreadful day on her body forever.

Emma and Daniel have sort of taken over their house again. Daniel picked up where he left off, doing his carpentry. Emma's had all of their things moved back from Canada, it's almost like they never left.

Carys has taken the last month off school, and Maddy, Rhydian and I went back after a week. Tom and Shannon come over every day. Shannon has been spending a lot of time with Carys whenever I need a break. She reads to her or sometimes just sits with her so she's not alone, I'm just terrified to leave her on her own in case she does something stupid. Grief can make people act out of character.

Dad and Aran are back with the pack in the wild, Ceri and Gerwyn have come over a few times as well, to check on Carys. They feel so guilty for how the pack attacked her dad, but it wasn't their fault.

Carys hasn't spoken much since the burial, and when she does it's only to me. She talks about happy times with her parents and then bursts into tears knowing she'll never make new memories with them again. Sometimes she talks about how it's all her fault.

"Carys, you know you're not to blame. It was Kincaid, but he's gone now," I say, trying my best to comfort her. She stands up and walks over to the window.

"I guess, I can't help the feeling though. The guilt. I was so angry with my dad before it happened," she sighs, "I just wish I could have told him how much he meant to me."

"He knew," I tell her, I decide to change the subject, she needs a distraction. "Maddy's parents said they'd be happy to have us stay here for as long as we need. They still technically own the house, but they said we need to stick together at times like this. Maddy's going to stay in the spare room, so you can keep your room. Rhydian's going back to live with the Vaughns. I'll be staying in the cellar."

"Don't be stupid you're staying in here with me, " she says.

"Not sure Maddy's parents will be on board with that," I try to joke but she doesn't crack a smile. I stand up and kiss her on the cheek, "I don't have to go to school tomorrow. I can stay with you until you're ready."

"I think I should go back too. I want to get on with my life, it's what he would have wanted, and mum. I missed so much school after she died and when I got here, I only did two weeks of school before it all hit the fan."

"Are you sure you're ready?"

"I don't know if I'll ever be ready, but I want to try," she turns to me, and smiles, "I want to be happy again."

Her phone starts ringing. She sighs and shakes her head, and I instantly know the person that makes her feel that way is Anwen.

"What does she want?"

"She's been calling non stop for a while now, she must have heard what happened, I had to call some of dads' old work friends. I guess the news got around," she picks up the phone, "Hello?" I can hear the other voice.

"Carys, I heard about your dad. I'm so sorry, are you- I mean, do you have someone with you? I can't stand the thought of you being alone right now."

"I'm fine, I'm with family and friends here. I'm not coming back though; I'm not running away like he did when mum died."

"That's good. If you need me, I'm here," Carys looks at me.

"Anwen, you have to stop calling. I meant what I said last time we spoke, I'm moving on."
