Chapter 5

Meanwhile Tails and Cosmo were going to have a nice date.

Tails had no idea on what to do, so he asked: "What do you want to do for our date Cosmo?"

Cosmo answered: "I have no idea Tails, you asked me to come."

Tails didn't like her answer, since the both of them had no idea, so he decided to start slow and take a walk for an ice cream.

Cosmo liked the idea and accepted, so they headed for the ice cream shop.

While they were walking, they talked about their work, Cosmo said: "Sadly there's still much to do before our garden is fully healthy, but you're right, I should do it easy, I don't have to stress myself so much"

Tails smiled and said: "I'm glad for you"

Cosmo: "And what about you, did you think about their marriage?"

Tails: "Yeah, Sonic asked me to make it unforgettable, I'm brainstorming myself and decide how to make it perfect".

Cosmo asked for some explaining, (since she has no idea what a brainstorm is) and Tails made her an example.

Tails: "just imagine you have to go across a river, tell me how'd you do it?"

Cosmo: "Well, I'd go for the bridge"

Tails: "Yeah, that's the 1st, now, tell me a 2nd choice... and it doesn't matter if it's impossible, just say it"

Cosmo: "Well, I'd swim"

Tails: "Continue, 3rd, 4th, 5th..."

Cosmo: "I'd make a boat... then I have no idea Tails"

Tails: "you should have many ideas and gather them, let me show you..." Tails made a long breath, then he started:
"1)I'd take a spoon and dry that river.
2)I'd make some stilts.
3)I'd fly with my Tails.
4)I'd take a long run for a jump.
5)I'd walk on the water.
6)I'd take some planks, throw them on the water then jump on them.
7)I'd capture some sea turtoise and use them as a raft..."

Cosmo got sick of hearing him and said: "Ok ok ok ok ok, Tails, that's enough"

Tails started laughing and said: "This is a brainstorm Cosmo, but what I asked you actually was more a fun game than a true brainstorm"

Cosmo made a smile, then she said: "I didn't know you were this mad Tails"

Tails looked at her and saw that she was smiling, so he decided to make it even more fun and said: "I'm totally mad, Cosmo" after a while the both fo them started laughing.

When they ended Tails said: "Cosmo, maybe... sometimes, if you randomly think to any idea for their marriage, can you tell me that, so we'll both gather ideas.

Cosmo smiled and answer: "Ok, but don't expect me to be mad like you"

Tails got red and Cosmo giggled, then she gave him a big hug, Tails accepted and gave it back to her.

After a while they got to the ice cream shop, both of them didn't take long time to decide the taste of ice cream.

Tails choosed his favourite taste Vanilla, while Cosmo decided to try a different taste and choosed strawberry.

Tails took Cosmo's hand and headed for a park while they were eating the ice cream.

They sat on a bench and took the time to end their ice cream, when they did, Tails got really close to her and gave her a hug.

Cosmo was once again away with her mind and Tails noticed that since she didn't gave back the hug.

Tails got suspicious and asked: "Cosmo, is everything ok?"

Cosmo: "Oh... yes, sorry Tails"

Tails: "What were you thinking about?"

Cosmo: "Nothing, don't worry Tails"

Tails knew that she was lying, so he insisted: "Come on Cosmo, you shouldn't hide me your problems"

Cosmo didn't want to worry Tails, but she took a while and made her choice, so she said: "Yeah, you're right Tails..."

She took a long breath and said: "I'm so sorry, but I'm still missing my mom"

Tails didn't like to hear that, but he wasn't angry, he understood her and gave a nice hug, hoping to comfort her.

Cosmo got surprised because he didn't react bad, she took a while and enjoyed that hug, it actually helped her feeling better.

Tails: "Why do you miss her so much?"

Cosmo: "I think I'm still jealous of Cream, she has Vanilla with her, she's a so wonderful mother." then Cosmo started having some tears in her eyes, while she ended trying to say: "and mine... is..." she made a break, trying to stop crying, but Tails understood and hugged her, that gave her all the help she needed.

Cosmo cryed really hard on him, but that made her feel much better eventually, so she said: "Thank you so much Tails"

Tails: "No problem Cosmo, I'll always be here for you"

Cosmo then continued what she was saying: "Don't worry, I'm not going to ask you something strange this time... knowing that she's alive comfort me, thanks to you, but I'd wish her here to hug me"

Tails took a while, then he decided to help her and said: "Cosmo, if you want, I can bring you to her planer, I've got a space ship, where's her planet?"

Cosmo didn't answer, but replied: "Tails, please, don't worry, it's... I'll only need a while ok?"

Tails once again asked: "Ok, don't worry, but where's her planet?"

Cosmo: "Well, it's really far away, that's because I don't want you to do it"

Tails: "Ok, but where?"

Cosmo explained him where the planet was, he admitted that she was right, the planet was really far away, they should take too much energy for that travel and Tails was sure that Knucles wasn't going to allow that.

After a while Tails asked: "What do we do now?"

Cosmo didn't know, but she said: "I don't know Tails, I'm not on the mood for dating, sorry"

Tails understood and said: "Oh, ok, then I guess it's better if we go back home right?"

Cosmo got surprised to hear that, then she said: "Yeah, better"

So they headed home, Cosmo couldn't hide that she was really nervous.

When they got home Tails didn't know what to do for her, so he said: "Well, I guess I'll go in my lab Cosmo, see you later."

Cosmo was really surprised to hear that, so she stopped him and said: "Tails, aren't you angry with me?"

Tails: "Why should I?"

Cosmo: "Well, I just ruined our date, I was afraid that you were angry with me"

Tails touched his heart and stood a while in silence, Cosmo was really nervous, hoping that Tails wasn't going to yell on her, when Tails felt good enough he gave Cosmo another hug.

That surprised her once again, but what Tails said astonished her: "Cosmo, I guess you're right, I should be angry because of what you've done... but... I've been through so much pain... because I was worried to lose you"

Cosmo met his eyes and couldn't believe to her ears he continued: "...I love you so much Cosmo, I'll never stop loving you, I know that you're a wonderful girl"

Cosmo started having tears in her eyes, she tightened her hug on Tails, while he ended: "...I'm sure that you're doing your best Cosmo, you've been so kind with me the whole time we've been together, if you have these problems, but you don't make me suffer and you tell me everything, I promise... no, I swear, I'll never make it a problem, at least not for us."

Then Tails relaxed and waited that Cosmo broke their hug, but she didn't want, she asked: "Tails, can we sit together for a while?"

Tails smiled and walked to the couch, he sat down and waited for Cosmo to sit next to him, when she sat down, she made herself fall on Tails, then she hugged him the best she could, Tails was happy that he was able to help her that much, so he hugged her back and caressed her.

Cosmo was crying of joy, she couldn't believe that Tails actually wasn't angry with her, she was sure that he was going to yell because she ruined the date, but he didn't, after a while Tails started having tears on his eyes too.

Cosmo: "I keep imagining how much I'm important to you Tails, but I cannot do that"

Tails: "Cosmo, you're all I have, all I want, all I need and all I've ever asked.
Nobody and nothing is more important than you Cosmo... I think that, if I'd have to do that again... I wouldn't be able to do it"

Cosmo didn't understand, so she looked at his face and asked: "What are you talking about?"

Tails didn't answer, instead he had a sad expression and some tears, she could say that it wasn't joy, she understood what he meant.

Cosmo: "Tails, I understand... but I promise that you won't be forced to kill me once again"

Tails smiled and tightened his hug, then she ended with a smile: "And... even if you'd have to... remember, you have to take care of Sherry for me ok?"

Tails met her eyes, he understood what she was meaning, he could always bring her back alive thanks to Sherry.

they kept hugging for a long while, when they broke Tails said: "Wait here a moment Cosmo, ok?"

Cosmo didn't understand what Tails had in his mind, she asked: "What do you have in mind Tails?"

Tails explained: "I'll make you understand how important you're for me."

She understood that Tails had something like a surprise for her, she wanted to know more, but she accepted and decided to wait while Tails was leaving to their bedroom.

After a while he got back and Cosmo understood what he had in his mind since he was carrying his guitar.

Tails sat next to her and said: "This song is dedicated to you, my dear Cosmo".
