It was Sunday—the day the Cullen family, Jennifer, and unfortunately, Isabella, were going to play baseball together.

After the disaster on Saturday, when Isabella was introduced to the family, Jennifer decided to go home and share a secret with her father, Charlie. She hated lying to him and believed he deserved the truth.

“Hey, Dad, can we talk?” Jennifer asked nervously, approaching Charlie, who was lounging on the couch.

Noticing her anxiety, Charlie gave her his full attention. “Yeah, what’s up, sweetheart? You look stressed.”

Jennifer took a deep breath, steeling herself. “I need to tell you something important. But you have to hear me out till the end, and promise me you’ll keep it a secret.” She met his eyes, her voice serious.

Charlie frowned slightly, concerned. “Of course. What’s going on?”

“Okay, so… umm… well, as you’d say, I’m a witch. You know, like the ones with wands and flying brooms? Yeah, that’s me.” Jennifer rushed her words, but Charlie understood. He sat there quietly for a moment, processing.

After a beat, he smiled softly. “I’ve known for a while, my little star. I’m still your father. I notice things.”

Jennifer blinked in surprise, but then continued. “And, uh… other beings are real too. Like werewolves, shapeshifters, and vampires.” She paused, gauging his reaction before continuing. “The tribe in La Push? They're shapeshifters—they change into wolves to protect the humans there. Don’t worry, I got permission from Billy to tell you this. But you should also know… the Cullens—they’re vampires. They feed off animals, which is why their eyes are golden. You have to act like you don’t know, okay?”

Charlie’s face tightened as he absorbed her words. He nodded slowly. “So Billy and the guys I’ve known for over 30 years are… shapeshifting wolves?” His voice was quiet, almost to himself.

Jennifer gave him a sympathetic look. “Yeah, I know it’s a lot to take in.”

Charlie exhaled deeply but nodded again, looking up at her. “I trust you. But, if you know all this… why are you involved with the Cullens? Not that I’m against it,” he added quickly. “I like them. Just curious.”

Jennifer smiled slightly. “Well, to witches, wolves, and vampires, there’s something called ‘mates.’ For humans, it’s like a soulmate bond. When you meet them, it’s instant—you can’t be apart without it hurting, both physically and mentally. Rosalie and Emmett... they’re my mates.”

Charlie raised an eyebrow, surprised but not displeased. “Rosalie and Emmett? Well, that makes sense. But what about Bella? She’s been hanging out with them a lot too.”

Jennifer shook her head. “No, Bella isn’t a mate. She’s what you’d call a ‘bloodsinger.’ Her blood is so sweet and appealing that it attracts a particular vampire.”

Charlie looked slightly alarmed, but Jennifer quickly reassured him, “Edward’s got it under control. He wouldn’t hurt her.”

Charlie sighed, rubbing his temple. “Alright, thanks for telling me, kid. I appreciate your honesty.”

Jennifer smiled. “I just didn’t want to lie to you.”

Now, Jennifer sat beside her father as he cleaned his guns, glancing up occasionally as Isabella stomped down the stairs.

Isabella handed Charlie a beer, but Jennifer swiftly snatched it away, causing Bella to frown.
