chapter 7: shush

After what happened I head home and straight to bed, i think im just tired once i'm up it'll stop.

2 weeks go by and my and y/n have been getting along nicely. I like seeing her happy. I noticed that I would pay more attention to her. Looking for her when she's not around and taking mental notes on what she does.

It's the evening and we all had just finished the chores and ate dinner. Arthur and Jack are already asleep, the triplets are in their room doing some work. I notice the light is on outside so I go to turn it off. When I open the door I see y/n just sitting there looking sad. I sat down next to her.

"Hey y/n what's going on?" y/n turns and gets startled,

"Oh..hey merlin, i dont know im just not in a good mood" she avoids eye contact,

"You wanna talk about it?" i ask,

"I'm not sure.." she says defeated, i get up and offer her my hand

"Lets go to our spot and just sit there. '' She looks at me and smiles. I help her up and we get on a horse, the night is gorgeous. Fireflies are everywhere lighting up a path for us. y/n gets up and we're off, she wraps her arms around my waist and puts her head on my back. I start to feel a weird sensation in my stomach as we go faster.

We make it to the clif from our first chase, I help her off the horse and we sit looking at the sky.

"So you wanna tell me now?" I look at y/n and I see tears start to form. I immediately get worried.

"Hey hey it's okay '' I give her a hug and she cries.

"I promised myself i wouldn't cry over this but-" y/n starts but continues to cry,

"y/n you're allowed to cry" i reassure her.

"Merlin, my whole life I've been alone. I don't know who my parents are and ever since I could remember I've been begging for money and getting random jobs. No one really liked me and everyone thought i was a nuisance, but ever since i started to live with you guys, this is cringy but i finally feel like i belong" y/n explains

"Yea that is pretty cringy princess" I try to lighten the mood. y/n pushes me and starts to laugh, wiping her tears.

"Your such an asshole" y/n says and i laugh

"I know but on a serious note, I'm sorry that happened to you. You dont deserve it. Heh i had a similar childhood though, my parents were terrible and treated me like shit. So i ran, all the way to this forest and a wizard found me. He taught me everything I know." i tell her

"Heh guess we both had shitty childhoods huh?" she soffs looking up at me

"Yup i guess so" i responded and we just sat there looking at each other, i kept looking down at her lips. They look soft, I just wanna- there's that weird feeling in my stomach again. Shit

"y/n, i have a surprise for you" i say excitedly

"Another one? Merlin, you're spoiling me!" she jokes,

"Shush, get up and cover your eyes" I instructed before I went to the horse and looked in the bag tied around him. I grab a box and put it down, I press a button and music starts to play. I walk to y/n and take her hands off her face.

"What is that? How is it making music? It sounds beautiful" she asks confused but excited,

"May i?" I put my hand out for her to take, she did and I put my other hand around her waist. She puts her hand on my shoulder and we start to dance. We spent an hour just dancing and laughing.

"I can't remember the last time I had this much fun merlin. Thank you, I loved this" y/n says before giving me a tight hug. I'm taken aback but I hug her back. I want us to stay like this, but ofc it's getting too late.

"Let's go home" i smile

"Yeah lets go" y/n starts to walk. We get on the horse and ride home.
