Chapter Three

Their Back At School

"Have you seen the new guys?"

"Their so fricken hot!"

"I am so getting Preston's number!"

"Did you know they used to hang out with Jennifer Sprouse?"

"Ugh! I think I am in love!"

These are the stupid things I hear five minutes into my first hour class on Monday. Yes, my first five fricken minutes and this is all they talk about. Fricken great.

This weekend went by too fast.

I open my math book angrily to the page of the assignment that the teacher has written on the board and begin looking at the problems, well aware of his eyes on me from across the room. I glance over to him out of the corner of my eyes and find his entire desk swarmed by girls, giggling, hair twirling, googlely eyes girls.

Pathetic if you ask me,

I shake my head and put my eyes back to the book in front of me and begin scribbling my answer down quickly. This is the first time in a long time that I have done one of my math assignments, my mother will be so proud.

When I am done I notice I am the first one. Well, the first ones other than the nerds who either read a book or chat with other nerds. Lucky lucky me, Blythe isn't in this class do to the fact that he is a grade older than me. Although we do have a few classes together like PE, Lunch and Chemistry.

I laugh as I remember his crummy pick up line when we found out we would be partners in Chemistry at the beginning of last year. He had looked at me, placed a stupid grin on his face and said;

"Chemistry is the perfect class to make some Chemistry of our own baby."

I had laughed, actually laughed! I remember his shocked expression at my laughter and that had only made me laugh even harder. We have been partners ever since.

I jump slightly when the bell rings, interrupting my thoughts. I jump to my feet and grab my stuff and practically run from the classroom, hoping to flee the piercing gaze of Preston. Apparently my words had not gotten through his head when I told him I wanted nothing to do with him anymore for he still looks at me, letting me know he is there.

I breath a say of relief when I have reached my locker, hoping I have no more classes with him. I roll the combination into the combination lock and put my books away, grabbing the ones I need before I see a body come up and lean against the locker beside me. I smile and stand, not bothering to look at him because I already know it is Blythe.

"Couldn't stay away from me for an hour could you? Had to have me in your presence." I tease, getting my other book.

"Well the way you ran out of the restaurant last night I didn't even get to say goodbye." He tells me making me jerk my head out of the locker and meeting his gaze.

"What do you want James?" I ask him harshly, slamming my locker door shut and locking it before turning to look at him. The girls that walk by glare at me, wishing they were getting his attention.

"I just wanted to talk to you Jen.... It's been two years...."

"You should have picked up a phone if you wanted to talk to me so bad." I snap.

"I did but you didn't answer." He says, defending himself.

"I didn't get the calls then." I shrug, not fully believing him.
