Prompt: Sunset

The light is something I never thought I'd get to see again, "What's wrong dear, don't you like your outside time?" his words sent a chill down my spine, "Oh no, thank you. I do enjoy my time outside." He pushed me along so I can enjoy this walk to his standards. His humming sounded sweet to those who have not seen the real him.

"Good morning, Doctor Davis, are you taking your wife around the garden?" His smile grew, "Yes, she needs some fresh air, since the accident it's easier for her to just sit in her darkroom, in our house." The neighbor and he continued to speak as I look at my one leg. It makes my stomach retch thinking about the torcher he did to me for three days straight before cutting my leg off.

"Mrs. Davis you must be so happy to have such a caring husband, I know mine would leave me to myself." She said jokingly, I feel his hand grip my shoulder and smile at me, "I couldn't imagine having a better husband." I said with a horse voice. I screamed so much the last few days that I'm sure the neighbor can tell I was crying. "Well, I'm glad you and the baby are safe, I know you risked your leg for your daughter's safety I'm glad that man who did that to you was arrested."

I look over to him, he was still here but set the whole thing up with a man who had a debt and was willing to have people he knows to pay it off for him, if he went to prison for this crime, with a job after his release. "Yes, we hope he gets the help he needs since my wife and child were not killed, we hope he gets helps and not life." Our neighbor, "Wow, you guys are so kind to be more concerned about the driver."

His hand moved to mine, "We try our best to be kind and understanding people, we're actually on our way to the court hearing now. My mother is in town to watch our daughter during the trial and hearing, we hope your son Marcus and our daughter Lily can play with each other next time we head to the park." Our neighbor nods, "Of course, Mrs. Davis please hang in there and I know what you went through was tragic so if you'd ever like to take a walk or have some tea, I am always next door."

I look up and smile, "Thank you, I will make sure I take up the offer sometime." We walked off as he laughs, "To think this man will take my fall for me, but don't worry dear next I think we'll use your old boyfriend to replace your hand with the new one I've been making in my lab." I feel the tears fall as the fear set in, I wasn't getting out of this, I was going to die before he was finished. I watched the sunset on what one would call a beautiful day.
