"By the power vested in me, I pronounce you husband and wife." The Pastor declared over the couple in the church.
"You may ki-" He was then interrupted as suddenly a man stormed through the church backdoor, which made everyone in the wedding to turn around in astonishment.
The clergyman was so surprised.
"Sarah you know I love you!" He screamed at the top of his voice, causing echoes throughout the hall.
"That man there standing next to you is not your husband, I am!" He shouted again.
The entire hall erupted with laughter as they began to talk to one another, some getting up, others sitting down.
In response to the man's statement, Sarah, the apparent bride-to-be laughed evilly saying blankly as her eyes met his.
"I never loved you Anthony."
This caused more laughter in the hall, as well as mixed feelings and expressions across the place.
The man standing at the door was the guy who was once in Sarah's life. He had a mental disorder and she just couldn't put up with him anymore. Their relationship had ended and they could no longer be together.
And so, immediately the retarded man pulls out a gun from his back pocket and lifts it up in the air pointing directly at the couple (as the groom tried to shield his bride).
He had no shoes on.
"You're shielding her from me?" The guy asked, laughing hysterically. "If anybody moves again... I swear, one more move and I will shoot your brains out."
"Calm down bro, put the gun down." The groom chimed in, as sweat was dripping from his forehead in fear. Terror was in his eyes, his hands were shaking.
"I said don't move me-e-n!" The man shouted. Everyone was on the ground now, except the couple.
"Please don't do this." The groom said again in a calm tone. Suddenly, the man shoots straight at the groom, but then it almost hit Sarah.
Then Nepa suddenly took the light (the power supply went out).
The TV goes off, causing Rosette's heart to jump in suspense as she had anticipated the next scene of the series, but then she remembers that her food was on the fire.
"Young lady have you checked the food you left in that kitchen?!" Her mother raised her voice all the way from the master's bedroom.
Sheepishly, Rose tiptoes into the kitchen to find a burnt offering she would have called Jollof Rice and meat, the food had already burnt by the time she could get there.
Smoke was in the air.
"Mummy, I'm there already." She says as she tries to revive the food, turning off the gas cooker. Her mother would kill her she found out the outcome of her "food" - in quote.
But it was too late, her mum ran straight into the kitchen, her mouth opened, her eyes scanning the place.
Rose finds out that her mother was in the kitchen. She then hides under the kitchen table to get away from trouble.
"Rose, Rose, Rose..." Her mother's voice trailed off. "How many times will I say this, and keep on repeating the same thing over and over again?" She continued. "You aren't a baby anymore, you're a grown woman for crying out loud!"
Rose's face is flushed. It is bright pink with pure embarrassment.
Her mother then kept on wining and complaining loudly about her daughter's misbehavior.
Without a doubt Rose indeed had made a very big mistake.
She began to ask herself questions in her mind;
Why on earth didn't I just ditch the TV and get this done already? I wouldn't have been in this mess, now would I?
The 16 year old then comes out from the kitchen table. She then looks into her mum's deep brown hazel eyes.
"I'm sorry mum." She muttered. Her eyes hit the white concrete floor, which also had patterns of gold hearts that matched the walls of the kitchen.
There was a moment of silence between them.
"I know that I shouldn't have been so careless, neglecting the chores I had to do." Rose said again. "Forgive me."
Her mother then lifts her chin and purses a small smile on her lips.
"It's okay, sweetheart." She says.
Her mum's name is Amelia, a Caucasian or 'oyinbo' from the United States, who is married to a Yoruba native from Nigeria. Mrs Amelia got married to her husband on the 19th of January, 2004 and on October 3rd that same year...
Their little angel Rose was born.
Mr. Olatunji, Rose's dad was quite distant from home due to the bad relationship between him and his wife.
The thing here is that he has a thing for alcohol and for many years the Adebayos have been battling with this issue concerning the breadwinner of the family, which is why the couple "temporarily" split and Mrs. Amelia had to become a single mum.
"So... you're not mad?" Rose asked.
Her mum shook her head rapidly saying 'no.'
Rose indeed was relieved.
"Well." Her mum spoke abruptly. "I'm not the one to clean this place young lady, make sure you take good care of the kitchen."
She then smiled after saying that, revealing her perfectly whitened teeth.
This caused Rose to laugh in amusement.
Her mum then swiftly closes the door. Rose walked towards her burnt offering once again and laughed to herself.
She was silently thanking God that her mum didn't give her the beating of her life.
"How silly of me to be so carried away." She muttered, looking around the entire kitchen.
"I have some stuff to do around here." She said, proceeding to tidy up the place.
