With tears in her eyes, Rose drops her bag on the small sofa in her bedroom and dives her bed sobbing into her pillow. This is what she always did whenever she felt sad or moody.
With a flashback, she sits on the bed remembering what her Maths teacher had told her. When she had walked into his office earlier that day, he counseled her, advices and encouraged her not to give up.
She was only crying because she was angry with herself and promised to make up for all she had lost that day.
Standing, she wiped her tears. Rose undresses and looks at her almost naked self in the mirror examining her body. Although she had developed a habit of always looking at herself in the mirror, but somehow it boosted her morale and helped herself esteem-even how she viewed herself.
After minutes of admiring her beautiful self in the mirror, she took a quick shower. Coming out of the hot tub, she cooled off and dried her body with a pink towel.
Her room was indeed VERY girly, because Rosette Adebayo was in fact a 'girly girl's girl' - and all the boys knew it as well. She loved glitter and pink so much. The four walls of the room were yellow with pockadots of pink and white.
As she was putting on some perfume and wearing light makeup that evening, she decided to play some of her favorite Nigerian Afrobeat songs that were reigning that year from Spotify with her Beats by Dr. Dre speaker, as she turned on the air conditioning.
Rose was a HUGE fan of Wizkid, so she played some of his current hits and albums as well.
One time in their class when they were gisting, she said that she loved Wizkid and this sparkled an argument with those who were Davido's fans.
The thought of this caused her to smile.
Going on that evening, she took some pictures of herself to show-off her nice makeup, her hair-do (of which she pulled her long hair into a nice bun) and her beautiful body on Snapchat, both filtered and non-filtered.
She did this to get her mind off of what transpired that day at school, she didn't even mention it to her mum because, she knew that her mother would make matters worse and even more complicated.
She didn't want to share her emotions with anyone not even her bestie Chioma (they often called her "Chayo").
And so to relax her mind, she didn't study that night.
She then proceeded to post the selfies on her socials and her statuses. Immediately, her friend Precious viewed it on her WhatsApp & Facebook status, he gave her a call straight away.
It was a video call! On seeing this, Rosette bit her bottom lip as her heart leaped for joy - her cheeks red because she began blushing and chuckling. She quickly picked it with happiness.
"Heyyy." She called out, using her sweet voice, waving.
"Hiii." He smiled, revealing his perfectly whitened teeth. "I just viewed your status, wow girl, you look sweet."
Rose blushed.
"Thanks dear." She said.
"So what's up?" I was present in the class today and in school. I saw everything that happened, I'm so sorry." He replied saying, touching his short curly dreads.
"No it's okay, really." She said, trying to scratch her neck. "I'll make-up for it by Mock Examinations."
Precious smiled, his brown eyes sparkling.
"I trust you." He smirked.
"Okay no problem, I just called to check-up on you, y'know to see how you were doing, hoping that everything was alright on your end. You can do it, until then, just keep on pushing. My warm regards to your mum. Take care."
"Bye." Rose smiled back.
"I care about you." He winked.
Rose chuckled. "Me too." Then the call ended. Rose flopped down on the bed biting her bottom lip again.
"Mum doesn't have to know about my feelings for Precious, if she did find out, I'll be finished."
