It was a calm, peaceful night in Dreamland, a land known for its radiant happiness and joy, even in the recurring times of darkness it used to experience.

The residents of Castle Dedede slept contentedly, the stars above twinkling as they guided dreams to everyone.

The hero of Dreamland, Kirby, was also fast asleep. Since Dreamland's last cataclysmic disaster had gradually subsided, so had everyone's energy for the night.

Kirby tossed in his sleep, muttering in discomfort. Though it was a peaceful night, the young puff was much too warm in bed. He sat up, rubbing his eyes as he peered out of his bedroom window.

Mr Shine glowed overhead, in his own state of rest as he lit up the night sky along with the countless stars scattered in the sky.

Kirby yawned, getting out of bed and making the impulsive decision to visit the fountain of dreams, located in the pretty gardens of the castle.

Although Kirby had his own home, he preferred the room he had in the castle. It was roomier, and there was no constant yelling from his so-called roommate, Tokkori, a bird who had taken it upon himself to barge into Kirby's home and boss the child around.

"It's so dark..." Kirby mumbled as he exited his room, walking down the dark hallways. Taking two left and then a right, Kirby finally managed to make it outside.

He ventured through a couple of sculpted hedges, one of them being designed after himself, courtesy of Gardener Waddle Dee, and the young puff finally made it to the fountain.

"You look extra pretty today, Star Rod!" Kirby grinned at his favourite weapon that rested on the fountain as it seemed to sparkle in response.

"Do you think you can help me? 'M feeling really hot, poy..." A sigh escaped Kirby's lips as he leaned his back against the fountain, careful not to fall in. The fountain glowed twice as if agreeing to his request, making Kirby smile.

He stood up, and just as he did, he was suddenly pulled into the fountain.

"Ah! Poy that's cold!" Kirby whined loudly, before covering his mouth, eyes darting back and forth quickly to ensure no one had heard him. He'd get in big trouble if Dedede was awake.

Like Kirby cared that much-

But anyway, the puff stood up and pouted at the Star Rod.

"Why'd you do that?! Now I'm shivering!" Kirby complained.

The Star Rod only twinkled in response.

Kirby could've sworn he heard some laughter coming from the Star Rod too.

"Well, you've made me all cold, so now I miss my warm bed, poyo." Kirby huffed, turning around as he walked off.

'Wait.' A melodious voice called, sounding almost concerned.

Kirby turned around in confusion.

'I need your help, dear star.' The voice spoke again, sounding a little more concerned.

Kirby walked towards the fountain again. The Star Rod shone brightly, causing Kirby to cover his face from the blinding light.

"Poyo? Star Rod, is... is that you?" Kirby asked cautiously, ready to fight the owner of the voice if it turned out to be something like dark matter.

'Yes, star child. I know you haven't heard my voice in a long time.' The Star Rod admitted, continuing, 'Do you mind helping me with something?' it inquired.

Kirby hesitated, wondering if he should get someone else. He didn't want to mess this up if it was a big favour the Star Rod was asking.

'It shouldn't be too difficult for you to handle. And there is no rush, either. You underestimate yourself, star child. I promise you are perfectly capable of many great things as long as you believe it.' The Star Rod assured, expelling a number of concerns that were in Kirby's mind.
