Chained Defeat

Paige pulled against the binds around her wrists and she could feel the plastic of the zipties digging into her flesh. She was going to cut her wrists soon if she wasn't careful. Another pained roar echoed from somewhere in the ship, Angel's roar making her fight the ties harder. She growled as she yanked more on the straps holding her hands at bay.

"You're acting like an animal." Maisie stated from the other side of the room. She glanced over her shoulder at the younger woman only to hear a snarl escape the fifteen year old.

"Rather be an animal than a traitor." Paige snapped as Maisie rolled her eyes before continuing to fiddle with the small device in her hand.

"I'm not a traitor."

"Liar! It's because of you that we are here, it's because of you that this is all happening. It's because of you that Ace is DEAD!" Paige screamed, her voice was already starting to hurt from all the shouting she had done earlier while she was being brought aboard the ship. She had fought with every inch of her ability but with her hands bound there was only so much she could do.

"It was either him or you." Maisie responded.

"You're an asshole!" Paige shouted as she tried to get to her feet, before the chain attached to the ties forced her back down.

"I'm saving your life. You just seem to be ungrateful for that, I'm getting our parents out of jail and you're angry at me." Maisie yelled back.

"Of course I'm angry at you! You ruined everything! Everything I worked to do to protect them and you did this! You screwed them, you ruined my life!" Paige yelled as she tried to get to her feet again before a yank forced her back down. Another roar from Angel shook the room as Paige gritted her teeth trying to force her hands free.

It was the sound of footsteps that fully stopped the fight between the two girls as the metal door swung open a few moments later. Two men entered the space, an older man in a lab coat seemed almost out of place amongst the thugs that Paige had met earlier. His black shirt clashed against the white coat and his dark hair was slicked back as the guard beside him set down a folding chair and silver briefcase.

"Hello, I am Henry Wu. I've come to have a conversation with you. Maisie, can you please give us a few minutes." The man asked, looking at the nineteen year old who gave a quick nod before leaving the space.

"Now then. Your name is Paige right?" Henry started as she remained silent. "Maisie has told me that you bonded with my experiment. You know he was a prototype, he was just a test and we thought he couldn't follow orders and the lack of a bond. However, here you are, having bonded with my creation." Henry stated. Paige shifted still pulling at the binds on her wrist every once in a while.

"What does this have to do with me?" Paige hissed.

"Well we want to understand how and for you to teach us. Plus my intel states that there may be baby raptors, which would be of use to us if we can find them."

"You expect me to help you?" Paige barked out a laugh at the thought. "Even if you torture me, I would never help you." Paige snapped a low growl coming from her throat. Henry Wu was silent as he watched Paige for a few moments.

"Perhaps a better life, like we offered Maisie. We can get your parents out of jail for you, get you set up in a safe place and set you for life. All you have to do is cooperate." Paige mulled the statement over. A better life? Back home, with her family? She could almost imagine it, they were thriving in a house. Claire could be making food with Maisie while she and Owen played a game of cornhole, like they used. They could be a family again...

"Well aren't you offering a lot? I doubt you could even make that happen." Paige mumbled.

"I have many friends in high places, all I need is your help. You know the island, you know where those babies would be. You know how to control the indoraptor. That's all you have to do, and you'll go free." Henry stated with a bright smile. He was trying to be comforting, he was trying to convince her and as tempting as it was... another roar echoed from Angel.
