Y/n POV
I parked my car in the aquarium's parking lot, excited about the day I had planned here. I was hoping to see some otters or some penguins but I wasn't sure where they were. As I headed inside of the aquarium, I went to the front desk to buy an all day ticket. After that, I walked inside, looking around in wonder. There were giant fish tanks lining each side of the entrance. As I walked further, there was an intersection, one way pointing to the aviary and the other way pointing over to the sharks.
I pondered for a moment what to do before heading towards the sharks, curious to see the different types they had. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the tank stretched over top of the walkway, showing an amazing view of the giant lemon shark that was slowly passing through.
Humming softly, I continued walking down the corridor, becoming startled when seeing a strange looking creature calmly sitting on a rock, observing the outside world. As I made my way to the cage, we locked eyes and I tensed. They offered a calm smile and tilted his head, watching me closely.
I gulped softly and hesitantly waved, watching their expression brighten as they happily waved back, making me relax. I walked up to the glass and pressed my hand on it, watching them curiously. They were unlike anything I had ever seen before, half skeleton and half mermaid.
The creature swam slowly up to the glass and rested their hand over the glass where mine rested, grinning again when seeing their skinny, boney hand was larger than my hand. They let out a soft laugh and I smiled, seeing how relaxed they seemed. I quickly grabbed out my phone and opened a notes app, typing a question before pressing the screen up to the glass. 'What's your name,' it asked.
The creature hesitated for a moment and looked around before swimming down to the sandy surface and writing 'Sans' in it. I smiled and typed again. 'What a lovely name. My name is Y/N! It's nice to meet you, Sans.' Sans smiled and nodded, writing 'Hello, Y/N' in the sand.
We spent a few hours getting to know each other, us both sharing laughs until I had to leave. I hesitantly did so, not wanting to leave my new friend even though he assured me that it was fine. I promised to return the next day, smiling at his excited grin.
It had been a few months since I got to know Sans and today when I walked into the aquarium, I frowned softly, seeing a sign saying that today was the last day that it would be open. Confused, I made my way over to Sans' tank, looking around for him. When spotting him, I waved as I walked towards him, frowning at his sad expression. 'What's wrong, Sans?' Sans sighed and began writing in the sand. 'Today is that day that the aquarium will be open.. After this, they're releasing me back to my old home.' I smiled a little. 'That's great for you!' Sans shook his head.
'I don't think I'll be able to see you again after today because my home is so far from here.' "Oh.." I said sadly. 'Maybe, if you know where you live, I could come visit you?' Sans perked up, grinning. 'You really think so?' I nodded happily, giggling lightly at his cute enthusiasm. I blushed a little at my thoughts, realizing that I had been growing feelings for the little sea creature in front of me the past few months.
Sans tapped on the glass, snapping me out of my thoughts and I giggled embarrassed. He had written in the sand again. 'I live out in the ocean near the town of Ebott.' I raised my eyebrows, surprised about how far it was from where we were. 'I see. Well, I can't wait to see you there!' Sans and I talked for the rest of the day before I bid him farewell, going to my house to start packing my things in my small apartment, wanting to move to Ebott to be able to see him more often.
The next day, I was able to sell my apartment and quit my job, taking everything I owned in my small car to Ebott, a little antsy as I wasn't sure I was making the right decision. As I drove, I smiled softly as the ocean came into view, the town not too far from the ocean side. I parked in front of the new apartment building I had rented a room in, slowly taking all of my belongings into the new place.
I looked around the small apartment, smiling as it was an upgrade to the old place I had lived in before. I quickly set up my stuff, finishing with putting my clothes in the closet. I looked around proudly for a moment before grinning, remembering that Sans must already be waiting for me to come and see him. I quickly threw something on and basically ran out to the ocean, looking across the water.
Frowning softly as I didn't see him, I decided to go into the water, shivering as the cold waves hit my legs. I relaxed slightly as I looked around, I revelled in the fact that I had moved so far away from my hometown for a guy. I giggled at the absurdity before I squealed and recoiled, feeling something wrap around my ankle. I heard a deep chuckle before seeing two curious, white eyelights looking up at me, making me grin.
"Sans! You startled me!" I laughed, sitting down next to him in the water. Sans grinned mischievously and chuckled, sitting right next to me. "What're you doing here? I thought you lived back near the aquarium?" He asked with his low timbre. I blushed lightly at his deep voice but I continued. "I actually moved up here to be near you." Sans looked at me wide eyed, a light blue blush dusting his cheekbones. "Just for me..?" He asked with disbelief.
I nodded nervously, a little anxious that he wasn't happy before becoming startled as he hugged me. "Thank you, angel.. That means a lot to me." He whispered in my ear, sending shivers down my spine as I hugged him back. "You're welcome, Sans."
