In the woods in the early morning, far from human civilization, a young girl would run down the mountain collecting large spindly sticks to take back home. When there was a tree with branches low enough and thick enough to climb upon, she would. She'd climb until the branches underneath nearly snapped from her weight. And sometimes they would and she'd fall. But she kept on climbing.

She'd climb until she her grandmother said no for fear she would fall. She'd explore until her father said no for fear she would become lost. But if she was free- she would've kept running until she saw what was behind every corner.

Scars ran along her fingers and feet. Her hair tangled and knotted with leaves and twigs. Exploring was her home.

She grew up spending less time in the outside, but she never stopped loving nature. She had struggles in her mind, points where she had no energy- but she never gave up on the future that she believed was her reason for being.

One day, she would be at her healthiest, strongest, kindest, and smartest. She would have her dream job no matter how many told her to find something with a better salary or more realistic. But nobody has a dream job for the money, they have one for the life they can make for themselves- a happy one.

She doubted herself many times for various reasons. But deep down she pushed those thoughts away best she could and strived to look forward for the future she could have. No matter her present.

She told herself nothing can come in between her love and connection for the wild. So she convinced herself she didn't need anything everyone else had or wanted because she wasn't able to get those things. In fact she pretended to not care about those things like boyfriends, friends or a nice body and pretty face.

Her life would be at peak when she accomplished her dream. That's all that mattered.

At the age of 24, she woke up one day in a different world, a place where many of her teenage years were spent. Behind a screen with characters with scripts and backgrounds with blur. Except it was her new world, whether she wanted it to be or not.

Suddenly she found herself in the middle of a street in Tokyo, she saw herself and everything else in a familiar animation style.

Pulling her out of her thoughts, something yanked her out of the road by her shirt- a woman who apparently saved her life from a truck. She attempted to thank her but she couldn't understand her response. It was Japanese. She could recognize the language.

Is this what it was, was she in an anime? What shitty timing- when she finally got the life she worked so hard for she's forced to a life she would've died for years ago.

After walking the streets for awhile receiving more than enough stares to make her uncomfortable she ducked into a restaurant and sat down. A waiter handed her a menu so she smiled and took it. She scanned the paper pretending to read it when she had no clue what anything said.
