Chapter 3: Let's meet Alice

The gang decided to stop at Master Mushin's to get some rest. "I bet the old geezer is drunk off his ass like always." Inuyasha scoffed, as they walked up the temple steps as Miroku chuckles in embarrassment. Kagome glares at Inuyasha and slapped him across the back of the head. "Hey! What was that for?" Inuyasha barked at her while glaring back. Kagome sighed while shaking her head as she looked down at the ground. "Don't be rude about Miroku's master even if it is true." She says, while mumbling the last part. Inuyasha chuckles with a small smirk at his best friend's comment. As they made it to the top of the last step, they saw a little demon girl running around while carrying a giant jug of sake. "Oh, Master Mushin! You have visitors!" She called, once she had noticed them with a bright smile. Everyone frowns as there was never demons here except Hachi. "Do you think he is unable to keep demon's away?" Sango asked quietly to the others. Miroku sighs and shook his head no as he studied the demon girl's aura. "No, she is not that powerful yet even if she is a full-blooded demon." He said, as they head towards the building as Mushin came out of the temple. "Oh, it's you Miroku along with your friends." Mushin slurs, giving them a drunk smile. Miroku glares at Mushin and pulled his cheeks roughly while scolding him for letting more demons into the temple. "Now, Now Miroku I couldn't kick out a little girl it would be unholy of me." Mushin explained, as he tries to get away from Miroku as the little girl brought over the giant jug. 

"Here is the sake from master Yakurōdokusen like you asked for." The demon girl said, with a sweet smile. Mushin smiles and pets the girls head while telling her she was a good girl until he felt a dark angry aura behind him. He slowly turned to see Miroku clutching his staff. "Unholy to throw out a little girl more like an earn girl." He growls, as Mushin screams while running away from Miroku that began to chase him around the shrine grounds making the little girl giggle.

"Hi I'm Shippo what's your name?" Shippo asked, after jumping off of Kagome's shoulder with a smile.  The little girl smiles with a small blush at Shippo. "Um my name is Alice it's nice to meet you all." Alice told them. Kagome bends down while placing her hands on her knees with a smile. "Nice to meet you as well Alice, I'm Kagome the other girl is Sango, the one in red is Inuyasha, and the cat is Kiara and of course you met Miroku." Kagome introduced. Alice looked at Kagome for a few seconds then took a small sniff then smiles bright. She throws herself on top of Kagome. "MOMMY!" Alice cheers making everyone's eyes open wide as they looked down at the little girl shocked. Kagome held the little girl in confusion while pushing herself off the ground. "Wait I'm your mother?" Kagome asked, in complete shock. 

Alice nods with a bright smile after letting Kagome go. "Yep, you sent me here!" She says as Kagome stood up trying to wrap her head around the news. Inuyasha snickers at her face making Kagome growl while glaring at Inuyasha making Inuyasha gulp as he stiffened up from her glare. "Wait if your Kagome's daughter Alice shouldn't you be with your sister Aoi?" Sango asked, making Alice frown. "Aoi wanted to go be with Grammy Kaede, but I wanted to stay with Mushin." She told them with a small pout while crossing her arms. Kagome and Sango looked at each other then back down at Alice with confused eyes. 

"Why would you want to be with the drunk geezer?" Inuyasha asked, making Kagome sigh. 

"Inuyasha." Kagome warned him, making Inuyasha squeak making Alice giggle at the sight. 

"It's because Mushin is funny when he drunk and is very nice to me plus he is lonely, so I spend time with him when mommy and daddy let me." Alice answered making Kagome smile at the little girl's kind heart. "Well, that's very nice of you Alice." Kagome told her while petting the top of her head. Alice sniffs Kagome's wrist and smiles up at her. "You were with InuTaisho!" Alice cheers making them look at her confused on who that was. "Who sweetie?" Kagome asked making Alice gasp as she covered her mouth quickly. She quickly ran off before they could question her even more about the name, she had brought up to them. Soon everyone was inside settling into the room they normally shared together. "Does anyone else find it weird how quickly Alice went quiet when we asked about that name?" Kagome asked, making Inuyasha and Sango nod as Shippo ate happily beside Kagome. "What name is that?" Miroku asked making Kagome look over at Miroku. "InuTaisho." Kagome told him with a small frown. Miroku began to think while crossing his arms. 

"Have you heard of the name before Miroku?" Sango asked, as she looked up from her food. 

"No unfortunately I have not." Miroku told them making the group sigh. "Well, whoever he is, we need to keep our guard up cause we don't know if he is working for Naraku." Inuyasha told them while stealing a dumpling from Shippo's plate. Kagome sighs as she listened to them arguing before telling Inuyasha to sit while Shippo snatch a dumpling from Inuyasha's plate. Later that night once everyone was asleep, Kagome sat outside looking up at the stars with a blank face. 

"Oi what are you doing out of bed?" Inuyasha asked, as he sat down next to her. 

"I've got a lot on my mind is all." Kagome said, as she kept staring up at the stars. Inuyasha sighs as he looked up at them as well. "Look I'm sure we can figure out what's going on along with getting rid of Naraku like we always do." He says, while trying to cheer her up as he shoves his arms into his sleeves. Kagome nods with a small smile as she looked over at him. "What are your thoughts about this whole thing?" She asked. Inuyasha's ears twitched at the question as he thought about it with a small frown. "I guess I am surprised that you mated with Sesshomaru with all people and have pups together. When honestly, I thought you and I would end too together if Naraku was finally gone." He said, with a small blush with a small pout. Kagome looked at him shocked then blushes as she looked at her lap. She had no idea what to say as she always thought he would want to end up with Kikyo. Inuyasha cleared his throat while standing up. "Don't stay up to late we are leaving in the morning." He told her, then disappeared back into the room. Kagome nodded as she watched him head back inside then looked back at the sky with a small frown. 'He is thinking we would end together. But what about Kikyo? Do I want to be with him when I will always be compared to her?' Kagome thought while hugging her legs tighter to her chest. 

Kagome sighed as she got up and went to go back to bed when she noticed Alice heading out into the forest by herself. She frowns then began to follow the little girl to make sure she was ok. Kagome put a small barrier around her so she wouldn't noticed her. They walked through the woods for a few minutes when Alice stopped and sat down on a stump while humming to herself like she was waiting on someone. Kagome watched for a few minutes and was about to leave when she noticed a cloaked figure walking towards Alice. 

"You made it! I got a lot of spiritual energy from him! Can I go to Aoi now?" Alice asked, with a bright smile. The figure pets the top of her head as Kagome could barely make out a small smile. "No not yet Alice you need to gather more before you can leave. She is counting on us." The female tone came from the figure. Alice nods with a small pout as she crossed her arms. "Fine master Mushi doesn't play with me and I'm lonely." She whines making the female giggle as she stood up straight. "I will make sure you have a playmate soon." The woman said. Kagome watched with wide eyes as the girl takes a silver airy like spiritual energy from Alice's necklace and placed it into a glass jewel around her neck. Kagome tried to take a closer look to see the jewel looked like the sacred jewel except it was a light blue. She could feel the energy from it, and it felt so familiar to her, but she couldn't put her finger on it. "Now head back before someone notices your missing, I will be back soon to visit when I get the chance." The woman said, as Alice nods with a bright smile. A strong gust of wind came, and the woman was gone. 

Alice smiles bright as she skipped her way back to the shrine while Kagome stood there completely confused on what was going on. 'Why would they need to gather spiritual energy? What is it for? And who was that woman?' Kagome thought as she looked down while holding her chin. Kagome was about to take a step when a felt cold steel against her throat. Her eyes widened as she stood completely still. 

"It is rude to spy on people, Care to explain?" The woman's voice came from the side of her.

"I'm sorry I was worried about Alice and followed her to make sure she was ok." Kagome explains as she bites her lip. The woman looked Kagome over then pulled her blade away while scoffing at her like Sesshomaru would do. "I am an old friend of her family that is all you need to know. Now go before I decide to take your ears for listening." She growls while glaring at Kagome. Kagome nods while heading off back to the shrine. The woman watched her leave then smiles softly. 'I can't believe mom actually believed that.' She thought before disappearing into the night.
