Chapter 5 : Ishgard and the magic program

Saphire made his way to the Inn in a panic , he had never experienced anything like this . As he was getting close to his front door he stopped for a moment to calm down and collect himself , he didn't want Danaira to see him like this . He got himself together , dusted the dirt off his shirt and fixed his hair . He took a deep breath in and walked in the room . Danaira was sitting on the bed when he came in . 

- Hey welcome back 

- Hey ... 

- You ok there ?

- Yeah I'm fine , hey what were we talking about before I left ?

- The magic program at Ishgard

- Right , what was that again ?

- Its a program that anyone can enter to see what kind of magic they have and how they can use it , those who are really gifted get to train with tutor and people who specialize with there field of magic 

- That sounds incredible 

- Yeah I guess ... 

Saphire's gaze looked like it was directed into the abyss and she could tell . She hadn't known him for very long at all but she wanted to do something to cheer him up .

- Hey Saphire , if you'd like to , why not come with me to Ishgard  ?

- To the capital ? what would I do there ? 

- You could travel , and you could take the magic test with me , I'd be fun 

- Can I ask you a serious question ? 

- Shoot 

-Why are you being so nice to me ? You've only known me for a day and you already trust me enough to be comfortable being my roommate 

- I could ask you the same thing , we just met and you saw that I needed a place to stay and you didn't even hesitate to offer me your help . 

- Yeah well , I know what its like to not have a roof over your head . Its hard to be out there in the cold all by yourself  . 

- Ok then come with me , would you rather stay here and work a job you don't like by yourself or travel the country with a friend 

- We're friends ? 

- Of course we are 

Hearing those words come out of her with such sincerity is something Saphire had never truly experienced , having friends was something his parents had prevented him from doing . 

- Alright , let's do it 

- Great , when do we leave ?

- Tomorrow , if we're doing this then I want to leave as soon as possible 

- It's settled then , tomorrow we leave for Ishgard and enroll in the magic program 

The next morning the gossip around town spread quickly . Rumors about a corpse found on the edge of a riverside flooded the town . Before they knew it they packed there things and arrived at the ruby chalice where Saphire quit on the spot . And so within the hour they already left town and were on there way towards the capital . The following two days were spend taking  long walks and camping out . They took the time to really get to know each other and get comfortable however , the events of that night by the river side still haunted Saphire's dreams every night . Eventually they arrived at Persephone Village train station and from there they went straight to Ishgard . Saphire , being raised in a small village , found the train station very fancy and luxurious . So imagine when they crossed the walls of the capital of the kingdom .
