Chapter 6 : Aphrodite's fountain

Soon after they finished there paperwork , they were assigned to a location in the down town district . Walking down the different parts of the city you could see that even that capital was very divided . The people on the outer walls lived in horrible living conditions . The smell was so bad that you could smell it even on the elevated train station . The inside of the walls was kept in better conditions however the city was built with buildings like restaurants , blacksmith shops and shopping centers but lacked homes and houses . The people on the outside of the castle worked themselves to the bone . Meanwhile the people inside the castle lived comfortable lives . 

Inside the castle lived very few people , but you would know it based on its size . Castle Odin is the biggest building in the whole kingdom . Inside its cold dark hallways lived the King , the king's counsel of dark wizards and his wife who was well known for being a witch who practiced dark magic . 

The down town district was full of people all day . Being part of the shopping district made it that way . The streets were always filled with people on there way to there jobs or on there way back . It created the perfect market for "Aphrodite's fountain Spa and Bath house " . A place to relax and unwind after a busy day of work . This was ran by a lovely couple , Julie and Carter . Both of these individuals were also certified magic tutors . However being a tutor doesn't pay the king's taxes so therefore they opened a spa as a family business . Both Saphire and Danaira were assigned to stay at Aphrodite's for the week while they trained with Julie and Carter . 

The Spa was located between Zephyr street and Dionysus avenue . Even from a distance you could see its gold colored pillars and there beautiful scarlet blossoms . Saphire and Danaira walked in to see a tall woman with short blonde hair working behind the counter attending to a customer . It was then that the most stunning woman with raven colored  hair walked up to them . 

Hello , welcome to Aphrodite's fountain can I help you with anything - said the nice lady 

 yes , we were told to come here and look for Carter Frigga and Julie Sprite - replied Saphire

well that would be me and my wife , what can I do for you ?

were trainees here from the magic program and we were send here for tutoring -said Danaira  

 well you've come to the right place , we're in the middle of work right now though so let's get you to where you'll be staying for the next week alright

Julie took both kids to there rooms in the second floor of the spa which also functioned as a home for the happy couple . They settled down in there rooms , unpacked there bags and waited until the afternoon . Looking around the house they could see pictures on the walls from all there previous students . The smell of sea breeze candles and the colorful curtains filled the rooms .  On the counter there lied what looked to be different kinds of crystals . From Snake's eye to Cheryl quartz and Azure  . Later that evening they all sat down to have dinner and to get better acquainted with each other . 

so what can I call you kids ?

 I'm Danaira and his name is Saphire 

 Nice to meet you  - said Saphire in a shy tone 

nice to meet you too love , as you've probably guessed my name is Julie and this is my wife Carter 

Well its been a while since the MP staff sent me two water magic user's at the same time but I'm sure we can figure something  out 

oh I'm not a water mage , I have crystal based magic -said Danaira 

In that moment Julie hesitated , she grew up thinking that this kind of magic had gone extinct . 

 Oh , I didn't know there was still magic like that in the world 

 yeah , the staff at the MP asked me a bunch of questions about it like if any of my family members had this kind of magic , honestly though my family never dabbled in magic of any kind 

 In any case , we should start your training as soon as tomorrow if you want to be ready for the test in one week - said Julie

 That's true , you'll be needing a lot of rest so its straight to bed after dinner for you two - said Carter

After dinner though they couldn't sleep , the stayed up all night looking out there windows . The stars were beautiful that night , the sound of the busy street below them filled the air while the castle's shadow swallowed the city . Looking up at the infinite night sky really made you realize how small you really are . Saphire's silky long hair loved the soft touch of the winter breeze . His whole body was cold however his soft body never trembled . For Danaira it wasn't so easy though , she stayed under her blanket right by the candle light . Reading through a book she had found on crystal magic lying around the house . The next morning they woke up before dawn , before they could properly get out of bed they explained what they would both be doing for the day . 

As part of your training you'll be working with us at the spa as our trainees , understood ?

 Yes ma'am - they both replied 

Ok then first things first , Saphire you're with me - said Carter

 And you young lady will be with me for the day - said Julie

The started off there day by getting the spa ready , working the counter , cleaning the massage tables and cleansing the bath house water were thing that were done every morning before they even opened . First Carter wanted to explain to Saphire her connection with water and how to find his own connection . 

 Every magic user has there own style of magic even if it comes from the same element . If you want to become your own person you have to find your personal style of magic . How you use it , communicate with it and live with it will play a big part in that . 

Alright so where do I begin -said Saphire

 To begin your training you're going to try and make this glass of water evaporate 

Carter put down a full glass of water in front of Saphire , he tried his best , focusing all his energy on the glass . He stayed there for the rest of the day trying . 

 This is useless I'm not getting anywhere , is there a better way you can explain what I'm supposed  to do  

Ok try and visualize the a single drop of water expand rapidly until it disappears completely , try and do that with every drop of water in that glass 

that's not very helpful but I'll try it 

While Saphire spend most of his day in front of a glass of water Danaira spend her day reading and learning about all the diffirent kinds of crystals and what they can do . 

This book is so detailed , where did you find it ? - Danaira asked Julie

It was my father's before he passed it on to me , he was more skilled at using them for combat but I was never really into using it for that reason so I won't be able to help you there 

 that's ok , I'll just improvise 

 I can still teach you other things though 

 like what ? 

Well crystals can be used to enhance the body's physical abilities , they can replenish and improve magical powers and they can unlock different parts of the human chakra . 

 I think ill be needing some of those abilities during the test 

After a long day of training they we're both exhausted so they went straight to bed . Saphire's dreams were still stained with the memory of the riverside bridge , the sight of the blood splatter on the ice haunted him . At night he would feel the man's grip at his ankles , holding on to him as if it were to drag him under the bed . Danaira's dreams weren't any better , the sight of her old man's angered voice still made her flinch every time , even in her dreams . The sound of the rain poring onto her mothers grave echoed in her head .
