Chapter 4

    This morning, you awoke to yet another peaceful morning. You sat up with a sigh, looking out of the window, breathing fresh morning air. “Mmmmn, gonna have to get used to this…” you state, “day 2, start! Okay, gotta come up with a plan for the day.” you hum, wrapping a finger around the tip of your chin.

    “Objective one, food, objective two- practice bow hunting, objective three- start fire, then boil water and cook food. Objective four- map out the area.” you list, nodding. The topography of this japan is incredibly different from what it was in your time.

    Standing- you open the curtain, taking note of the partly cloudy weather. Determining the clouds to be cumulus clouds- fair weather. As a rule of thumb, if it looks like a cartoon sky; some cottony clouds dotted in the sky- you are looking at fair weather at least for most of the day. Though- just as any meteorologist, you can't always rely on this, as, it is simply an estimate.

    You step down the ladder, hopping to the ground a few rungs early, then move to the shard bowl to gather greenery and such. By the time you have finished, two hours have passed, and you have munched on a handful of mushrooms, greens and gathered mosses and some tinder. You sit down and set the bowl next to you, munching on one last shroom. You need to eat as much as you can in order to sustain yourself. You're Not simply walking from class to class anymore.

    You nod, trying to remember your second objective… After a bit it returns to you, and you relist the objectives in your head. You grab your bow and afew arrows, grabbing a mushroom and throwing it- grabbing an arrow and trying to knock it, only for the mushroom to hit the ground before you could even knock it… “I overestimated my skills enormously…” you laughed. First, you need to master quickfire. Which has its own steps of mastery. You decide to figure out the fastest way to knock your arrows. To be honest, you have no idea how you are going to do this… muscle memory takes a long time to develop…

    After a while, you have sped up enough to try a quick aim. You do the same motions over and over again until you start getting worse again- so instead of getting frustrated, you try quick knocking again. Rinse and repeat until you have a basic idea of how a quick-shot worked. At least for you… maybe now you could try again with the mushroom… you move to the grounded shroom, picking it up and throwing it as high as you could. You already had experience shooting a moving target- you weren't amazing, but maybe- you lost your arrow as you tried to knock it… arrow dropping to the ground with a disappointing clatter.

    You groan, trying everything again and again, still not once hitting the mushroom. Maybe you should try something else… try with the arrow already knocked? That might be much easier. You try quickshot with the arrow knocked and just so happened to land it through the dirty shroom- pinning it to a tree. “WHAT?? OH MY GOSH I DID IT!!!” you squealed, jumping up and down with both fists pumping into the air. “Gosh- was that a fluke? Should I go again? Nah- nah, I need to call it or I wont get anything done today!” you exclaim, still reeling at the feat you achieved, “archery skill- level up! Archery level 2!” you exclaim.

    Now to start that fire and cook. While you are on that- you should make a water pitcher, something to carry water and all. You go to collect more clay and shards, crafting a pitcher as best you can from mismatched shards. Once finished, you start the fire, cooking and dumping all of your greens out of your bowl. “As much as i need those clean- i need clean water more.” you hum, walking to the river, collecting water and boiling it on the fire.

    “I've been without water for a day… and it's beginning to get to me. I can't survive on the water in moss, juice from those grapes, and rain water caught in my mouth. If I don't get a steady supply of clean- fresh water, it's game over.” you note to yourself.
