Nitric Acid Adventure!

Chapter 5

    Relying purely on luck can be extremely dangerous, and you wouldn't recommend trying it at home, but- it helps to know that you have the universe backing you. To know that the stars have your back. Not that you are a spiritual person or anything.

    After setting everything up, you nod, looking over everything. You have some meat ready for tomorrow, as well as your bow and a quiver of arrows. You have your shoddy knife ready and a cement jar with a wooden cork to hold the nitric acid. Next , you simply need to sleep and hope that tomorrow will be a clear day. You get into your sleeping bag, slowly falling asleep as your mind races with things to come.

    Once morning arrives, you awake with a sigh, ready to face this next chapter. Soon you'll unlock chapter 4; Fire Arms! To think it only took you four months to get iron! You are kind of amazing haha. You get out of your sleeping bag, opening the teepee, gazing out into the dense forest, light fog spread through the area from the late- summer morning. Fall is just around the corner, but the leaves have yet to change colors. You bask in the fresh air, feeling excitement and nerves bubble up for a moment before you breathe them out.

    “Let's go.” you declare to yourself, starting off into the forest towards the cave you awoke in. It's been about eight hours of walking, and you begin having flashbacks to when you first awoke. You recognise some of the scenery, following the familiar terrain until you reach the cave.

    Crouching down, you note that there are now two tough looking guards in front of the cave. Shit, this is baaaad so baaad… why the hell are they guarding a cave? Are they using it to make gunpowder too? No, the closest hot springs are the ones you live near- you haven't seen anyone. Could it be nitroglycerin? Are they even chemists? They have to be, otherwise why else would they guard a nitric acid cave? There's no other logical explanation! Either way- it's all bad news. You were smart to decide not to interact with people when you first broke free. This also makes it only even more imperative that you make a gun. It's the best thing to protect yourself against strong people. You are by no means a match to these people and you don't want to have to deal with them. You could outsmart them, but there's way too many things that could go wrong! You could underestimate their intelligence, you could underestimate their strength, there could be other factors you haven't even thought of yet!

    You bite your thumb, thinking of how you could do this; jump in from above them? Too risky. distract? What if you cause more people to come here? act your way in? What if they get suspicious? Wait till night? Theyll obviously switch out. You have no information on what their situation is in order to fool them…

    After a while, your thumb begins to hurt, as you have only been biting harder and harder. You remove your thumb from your mouth, bringing your pointer to your head to massage your temple as your head goes into overdrive.

    Lets see, could you just shoot them? No, you don't want to kill anyone, and an arrow might be caught. Knock them out? The real question is could you? Unlikely. What is around you? Vines, trees, plants… PLANTS!!! Poison! How to administer it? Trick them? Hmm, how to do that… you could figure a way out to tempt them, but how… could you make a growling sound, and make them think the other is hungry? What if they think it's an animal and find you? Just toss it? What if you just made it look like a meal? Then just leave it out? If they see it, they could question and try to find you. That could lead them away from the cave. Or they won't move… nothing lost but then they may realise there's someone out there and call for someone.

    You nod, that's the best you can come up with currently. First, you need to find what you will poison them with. Amanita muscaria. The hallucinogen shroom. Perfect. Your mouth upturns and grows as the adrenaline surges through you. Yes… yes this is perfect. This is so exhilarating, you can't even contain the wide grin that has formed upon your lips. This is so dangerous but yet thrilling as hell.
