I decided that the best way to trick the God of Lies was to act completely and utterly lost. Putting on my best confused face, I walked deeper into the room. Loki immediately noticed me, but I continued to act as though I had no clue that he was in there.
"This is not the cafeteria." I finally spoke. "Man, I just really want some food. Stupid agents wouldn't let me eat my breakfast."
With a lip smack, I lolled my head to the side (where Loki was currently standing in his cage). I forced myself to jump to make him think that I was surprised by his presence. I put my hand over my heart as if I had just been jump scared.
"Jesus Christ," I said with deep breaths, giving off the illusion that I was trying to calm my racing heart. "I didn't know anyone was in here."
Loki stared at me without saying a word. I let my eyes travel up to his face as if it was my first time seeing him. Once I saw his face, I gave him a look of pure shock. That caused Loki to smirk, probably thinking that I was scared of him.
"No way." I gasped. "You're Loki! God of Mischief and Lies."
I pretended to fangirl, causing Loki to look very confused.
"You're like my idol. I looked up to you so much."
This time, Loki looked shocked. He probably never received any type of praise.
"Everyone always talks about Thor but I never understood the hype. I mean, he has the one ability to make it storm. Awesome. Wow." I said sarcastically. "But you have much more magical abilities. Like illusions and shapeshifting and... and probably so much more. You're like the real-life Harry Potter."
"I'm afraid I'm not familiar with this Harry Potter," was the first thing Loki said to me.
"He's a fictional wizard," I said dismissively. "But you're real! You really have magic. I always wished that I had magic. I could only dream of being able to pull off such amazing tricks as yours. I mean, attacking Thor as a snake. Hilarious!"
I sighed and gave him a small frown.
"I definitely could have used magic to get back at my dad. I would have loved to prank him after treating me like I was a student, not his daughter."
Loki seemed intrigued at the thought of me disliking my father, much like he disliked his.
"He wanted me to go into law enforcement, so from an early age, he began giving me tips on how to be a good cop. The tips never seemed to stop coming. Everything I did could be used as some lesson on becoming a cop. A friendly game of hide and seek became a lesson on how I should sneak around on the balls of my feet so I wouldn't be heard. It got worse when mom left though. Simple tips became full-on lectures. I was no longer seen as his daughter but as a pupil that he could mold into the perfect cop." I ranted.
I gave a humorless laugh. Taking a glance at Loki's face, I could see a look of understanding if only for a second. I could already see his walls breaking away as I continued my sob story.
"When I got older, I went out of my way to annoy him. I made sure to do the exact opposite of what he told me to do. He told me to be a cop, I got any and every job that didn't involve law enforcement. He told me to find a stable job, I got a different job every week. He told me to get a 'real mode of transportation', I got a motorcycle. Magic would've made annoying him much more fun." I let out a sigh. "I don't even know why I'm telling you all this. Maybe it's because I think you could understand where I was coming from. Maybe it's because you're in a cage and can't leave, so you'd have to listen to me. Maybe it's because I've gone too long without some delicious pineapple and now I'm going crazy. I don't know."
"What is that?" Loki asked.
I looked over at him and raised an eyebrow.
"A pineapple?"
"I don't believe we have such things on Asgard." He admitted.
"That's blasphemy! Everyone should be graced with its savory goodness!" I said, genuinely upset about this. "Tell you what, next time I'm able to get my hands on a pineapple, I'll bring you some. No one should live their lives without pineapples."
Loki gave a small smile that I only noticed because of my father's constant police training. I was so lost in thought about getting pineapples to Asgard for the rest of the Asgardians that I didn't hear the door open.
"Ms. Spencer," Natasha called.
I jumped and spun around to face her.
"What do you think you're doing in here?"
"I was looking for the cafeteria. I've been denied breakfast twice now and I'm starving." I lied but only about the cafeteria. I really was hungry.
"And you thought that it was the room with security guards outside of it?" She asked, obviously not believing my story.
"I don't know what kind of secret recipes SHIELD could be guarding. I mean, if anyone knew the krabby patty secret formula, it would be an agency such as SHIELD." Something in my brain seemed to click. "Wait! Is that why Patchy the Pirate is here? To protect the formula?"
Natasha was completely unamused by the revelation.
"I've connected the two dots."
"You didn't connect shit," Natasha argued.
"I've connected them," I said.
"Ms. Spencer,"
"Yes?" I asked.
"Get out," Natasha commanded.
"Okay," I said and went to leave the room.
I looked behind me and saw Natasha standing still, glaring at me. Jeez, scary Russian spy is scary. Anyway, since she is seemingly going to stay behind with Loki, I'll have to find my way back to Gus all by myself.
