Star Trek Voyager: The Mylar Cat - (2nd Edition).

Chapter 2

From the moment the little black and white Neko padded onto Voyager, it seemed as though it had always belonged there.

The  crew, usually reserved with their affections, took an instant liking to the new arrival. They were charmed by its eager friendliness and the palpable warmth it exuded, as if it radiated a quiet joy just by being near them.

The cat's fur, despite its somewhat lacklustre appearance from malnutrition, still remained a silky blend of the darkest black and the brightest white, becoming the talk of the ship.
Crew members marvelled at its softness,  comparing the touch, to velvet brushed against the skin.

Its eyes, large and azure-blue, held a depth that reminded many of staring into a mesmerising nebula.

Even Tuvok, ever the stoic, was seen more than once letting his fingers wander through the silky strands, claiming "social" or "scientific curiosity" to anyone who caught sight of the very slightest but definite smile on his Vulcan lips.

The little cat, barely out of kitten-hood, revelled in the attention, its demeanour always so trusting, open and loving.
It would often seek out  the company of anyone willing to offer a scratch behind the ears or a gentle cuddle.
Its favourite pastime became nestling into the crooks of arms, purring contentedly, while the subtle scent of its fur—a clean, almost sweet aroma, filled the air around it.

This little kitten commanded a presence that was both grounding and uplifting, touching even the most hardened crew members. Its unassuming gentleness, loving nature, and eagerness for physical affection drew the  most reserved among them into its circle of warmth, turning brief  encounters into moments of genuine connection.

To some, it was almost like a little reminder of home, perhaps a beloved pet dearly missed after Voyager was catapulted to the Delta Quadrant and the crew stranded.
To others, it was a soothing presence amid their journey, a small yet comforting source of joy that brightened their days and eased the strain of the often lonely journey.

The  little cat's presence, though modest, quickly became an integral part of the daily lives of many crew members, providing a comforting and joyful diversion from the challenges they faced.

The little Neko had officially made its home with Captain Janeway, spending much of its time nestled in the cosy confines of her ready room and at night in her quarters.
At other times, the cat roamed the ship's  corridors, visiting favourite spots like the mess hall, sickbay, and the holodeck.

Kathryn had replicated an assortment of toys to entertain it when it first came  aboard, but the cat showed little interest in them. Instead, it always much preferred the warmth and interaction of human companionship, and spent a lot of its time snuggled up against her, or curling itself up  into the laps of other crew members who visited; many finding themselves  inventing reasons to visit the captain's ready room.

It wasn't long  before Kathryn had a long list of volunteers eager to look after the adorable creature if ever she needed a pet sitter.

The cute little Neko cat had quickly become a beloved presence on the ship.  Each crew member who spent time with it seemed to leave with a lighter heart.
The engineering team found that their breaks were more refreshing with the cat nestled in their laps, its rhythmic purring a  soothing counterpoint to the hum of the warp core.

The Doctor noted how its presence seemed to ease any anxieties of patients in sickbay and Neelix, ever the morale officer, found joy in creating special treats for their new furry friend, delighting in the way it would be willing to try whatever he conjured up, even if it wasn't always the most palatable thing in the quadrant.
