Jisoo had always believed that no one understood her, or at least that's how she was made to feel by others. She preferred to be alone rather than socialize with people who didn't care about her.

Everyone was too preoccupied with trying to be happy to notice Jisoo, who was stuck in her room all day, not wanting to go out, see anyone, or talk to anyone.

The door of her room swung open, bringing Jisoo back to her senses after she let herself wallow in her own deep thoughts. Lights turned off, trash on the floor, and school works left undone. Jisoo lacked energy and motivation to do them all.

"Jisoo, your room is so messy," her Mom stated, but Jisoo didn't remove her gaze from the ceiling, it's as if her eyes were glued up there.

"Are you listening to me, young lady?" Her mom asked, quite annoyed that her daughter wasn't paying attention. Jisoo just breathed out a soft 'yes'

"You're coming with us to the company's Annual Party Celebration tomorrow, okay? Oh, and I won't take 'no' for an answer. Also, your Father and I have something to tell you today," Jisoo sighed profoundly.

"Get ready, be in the living room in 5 minutes," Her mom added.

Jisoo rose from her bed and walked gently to her door, exiting her room. She saw her parents in the living room and approached them, sitting on one of the couches. She sat there, waiting for her parents to tell her what she needed to know.

"We have something very important to tell you," Jisoo's father remarked, prompting merely a nod from her daughter, who refused to look at them.

"We're putting you in a marriage with Mrs. Kim's daughter," her father added, surprising and perplexing Jisoo.

"D-daughter?"

"Yes, you heard it right," Her Dad said.

"I'm going to marry a girl? but I'm not into girls. Why would you set me up in a marriage with someone of the same gender as me?" Jisoo rose from her seat. Not that she was homophobic, she's not just into girls.

Or atleast that's what she thought.

"We realize that, but it's for the company's sake. Also, as much as I wanted you to marry a guy, there are none because Mrs. Kim only has one kid, and it's a girl," Jisoo's father stated, which enraged the girl because he made it sound like they were giving her away for the company's sake.

"You know, Jisoo, this is probably for the best. you're usually in your room and refuse to go out and socialize with people. We're just worried about you. With this marriage, perhaps you'll be able to compose yourself and be more open to the world," her mother continued.

"So, what do you think? We're meeting them at the party tomorrow, and you need to come, okay? It's for the best," her father stated. Jisoo merely nodded, pretending she wasn't going to cry. She hated it, she hated this, she doesn't want to get married but she thought it would be for the better so she could leave this house.

"Do whatever you want," Jisoo replied as she rose from her seat once again and faced her parents, "even if I say I don't want to, I still wouldn't have a choice, right?" she asked before walking away and returning to her room, locking it as she sobs on her own bed. Jisoo's parents just shrugged it off, assuming she'd get over it and be fine.

"Here's something you may wear to the party. I got it yesterday and thought it would look great on you, so I bought it. Isn't it lovely?"

Jisoo's mother was showing her the dress she had purchased for her on a Sunday afternoon. Jisoo is self-conscious about her appearance, so she was having trouble deciding whether or not to wear the outfit her mother had bought for her.

"Yeah, it is," Jisoo smiled.

"I'm really hoping for the best. Don't worry, Jennie will be there to accompany you."

"Jennie?"

"Yes, Mrs. Kim's daughter," her mother said. "I assume you've met her already? She goes to the same school as you." To be clear, Jisoo did meet Jennie at her school once. Jennie was well-liked at their school. In opposite to some of her relatives, Jisoo did not pay much interest to people's lives. Jennie was the student council president at her school, so she was expected to do a lot of things, which is why they don't see each other very often.

"Yes, we met," Jisoo said while lying on her bed.

"That's cool. Anyway, we have to go and check what's going on at the venue. Are gonna come with us?" Her mom asked.

"I'll just take a cab later, I-I still have something to d-do," She lied. Her mom just nodded and left her room after closing the door. Jisoo sighed as she stared at the dress which was placed on her bed.

She took her phone and used it to kill some time. If you're curious, Jisoo enjoys playing video games. She uses her computer occasionally, depending on the game she wants to play. Jisoo also wishes she had someone with whom she could play with. She may prefer to be alone at times, yet she still longs for some company.

Jisoo yearned for someone to care for her, to show her how much she deserves to be happy. She wondered every day when that "someone" would appear out of nowhere and tell her that everything would be fine.
