The next morning I sat in front of the hotel desk in my hotel bedroom and typed, albeit slowly considering my other arm raged in pain, on the laptop Jasper dropped off early this morning.

The Athena Hotel had a two-floor penthouse where my family resided when on business in the city. There were seven bedrooms, ensuring each sibling had their own and an extra for guests. My bedroom consisted of a bed, desk, and wardrobe.

I ran my hand through my hair, careful not to pull it out of its braid. My left arm hung in a sling. Getting dressed this morning proved that these next few weeks were going to be torture...and braless.

A video played on the laptop screen showing a street view camera from last night. Jasper had been busy.

Anyone could easily point me out in the video due to the circular shield of men surrounding me. Through the black and white images, Finn's hair sticks out like a sore thumb, the bright white color almost blinding.

I hit the spacebar and watched the scene play out again. Crowds of partygoers came from each side, none of them paying much attention to my men nor are there any curious people trying to peek through to see me. They all just amble along regularly.

That's Manhattan for you. Nobody gives a shit who you are, if you're in the way, they'll walk around.

My eyes tracked the movement from the left side of the screen. The person blended in with a plain hoodie and dark jeans. They casually leaned against the wall of the hotel, a giant pot plant blocking them from our view.

It took less than ten seconds for the concealed person to step out further onto the crowded street, pull the gun from their hoodie pocket and shoot in my direction. I turned the video off as my body hit the ground and the shooter rushed off with the crowd.

My fingers pinched the skin on my forehead in frustration. My brothers were currently out gathering as much information as they could.

A loud ding followed by the opening of the elevator doors alerted me. I pushed to my feet, slipping the knife resting on the table, in my hand. I opened my bedroom door, sticking my head out a fraction, and looked up and down the hallway.

Footsteps scuffled across the floor and I snuck out of the bedroom, keeping my body pressed to the wall, and listened to the person make their way to the kitchen. My men weren't allowed up here without permission from a family member and only we knew the code used in the elevator.

I looked around the corner leading into the kitchen and breathed a heavy sigh and the white head of hair. "How did you get in here?" I demanded, stepping into the room.

Finn whirled around, hand on his chest, eyes wide. "Jesus, how are you so quiet?" I asked instead.

My eyes narrowed as I made my way around the kitchen island. A bag of groceries sat on the island. "You brought groceries?" I asked, tilting my head.

He shrugged, turning back to the groceries and emptying them on the counter. Eggs, bacon, orange juice, and an array of other breakfast items. "I couldn't find food in the fridge or cupboards."

"The kitchen is more for looks than actual usage, we order room service when we stay here," I explained, dropping the kitchen knife on the counter, letting it rattle. "How did you get in here?"

"How's your shoulder?" He asked, ignoring my question for the second time. With a featherlight touch, he slipped the sleeve of my shirt down and examined the stitched wound. "It's not inflamed which means there's no infection, good sign. You'll need to wear the sling for a few weeks."
