Wish Island

Chapter 1

The streets were filled with busy people all over the place as a young man struggles to get through the crowd. After finally getting some space, he looks to his left, then to his right, and continuously looks at both directions until he finds what he is looking for: The map shop.

Enthusiastically, he walks towards the map shop, seeing no one else nearby nor in. He walks inside, looking in awe at all the different types of maps there are. He then starts to search for a map, no particular map though, just one that he thinks will be an awesome trip to take.

As he looks and looks and looks, he finally finds one that catches his interest. He takes out the map from where it is and fully expands the paper and is in awe. From what he knows, taking this trip will probably take days, heck even weeks to get to the destination.

"I wouldn't take that map if I were you." The young man gives out a small yelp and jumps a bit back at hearing the sudden voice of Em, the shop owner. Of course Em isn't their full name, but it's what they're called.

Em slightly gives out a small smirk and says, "Looking for a new map to have a new adventure planned out, is it Lucian?" Lucian slightly chuckles and says, "You guessed it."

Em then gives out a serious look towards Lucian and says, "I would suggest you'd get a different map then, this one ain't for you," and takes the map from Lucian's hands. "Hey-!" "Now listen here, boy." Lucian goes silent at hearing Em talking in a serious tone but listens. "You find a different map, you hear me?"

Lucian gives out an annoyed look and asks while crossing his arms, "And why can't I get this one?" "This trip, the map, the place where it will take you...it is dangerous." Lucian raises a brow at Em and asks, "And how do you know that?" "Oh, I know. There have been rumors from all over the world, saying who ever stupid enough to take this trip will end up gone. Forever."

Lucian doesn't really pay attention to what Em says and gives out a fake yawn when they finish talking and then says, "Orrrrr...it can just be a story to spook someone from visiting this possibly awesome place!" Lucian attempts to take the map from Em's hands, only to fail as Em quickly moves their arm up as Lucian barely misses by a few inches.

Em gives Lucian a glare as Lucian innocently stands there, whistling a bit as Em sighs and says, "You're a stubborn boy, but understand, that you will not be taking this map," and rolls up the map and puts it on the checkout counter. "Fineeeee," Lucian groans out and grabs a random map from the shop and then takes it to the front of the shop to pay for it.

Lucian then digs up some copper coins from his pockets and lays them out on the checkout counter. Em counts the coins before grabbing the coins and saying, "Alright, thanks for coming Lucian, now have a great day." Lucian slightly grumbles until something from the back of the shop makes a crashing sound as Em immediately goes to check what it is.

Taking the chance, Lucian quickly switches the map he had payed for, for the map Em didn't allow him to get and dashes out the shop.

He happily expands the map as he looks at the map in amazement at seeing how far the island is from Tuilte Island, the island he lives on. He looks at the drawing of the island which has an X written on it, obviously meaning that's the destination, and on top of that X is written, "Wish Island."

The sudden thought of having to spent maybe days or weeks out in sea for this fun adventure hits his mind as he lowers the map. Usually, he would have a close friend of his accompany him, or if the trip he was gonna make was close, he would venture out alone. But this, this trip might take some weeks to get to the destination. Most of his friends have sailed off to different islands, probably far away from Tuilte Island, and he doesn't even know where they might be.
