Chapter 1

Katniss POV:
"James!" I yell eagerly waiting for his attention. "Ya, mom" my son replies as if he is not interested. "It's time for our hunting lessons! I've crafted to your very own bow!" I say to him excitedly. "Can we do it later, I'm busy!" he yells back harshly. I hear some ruckus after him speaking. I wonder what's going on? I rush up our hardwood, brown staircase to see what is happening. He is only eleven , how bad can it be? And then I open the door leading to his room and... no IT CAN'T BE!
" JAMES PEETA MELLARK! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING TO YOUR SISTER?" James is sitting on top of his sister punching her, one fist after another. My daughter, Daisy, the weakling being only eight. "Mommy he's hurting me!" Daisy screams in pain. "She took my, uhhh..." James stuttering over his words, thinking of a convincing lie. " I don't want to hear it! James you are grounded for a month! And Daisy, come here sweetheart!" I say as I pull James off of Daisy. Her face is swollen, black and blue. No. All different shades of black and blue! James' face red of exhaustion, he starts crying, I have no idea why. "What's a matter baby?" I say sympathetically, wondering if I should be mad or supportive right now. "Daisy, go get yourself an ice pack, let me talk to your brother alone," I ask my daughter kindly. And she left, without a word because of her swollen up lips.
"So what's wrong James?" this time, without anger in my voice. "It's just that... I don't want to be a hunter like you, I want to be a baker like dad! It is more interesting to me." When he said that, it was like I just got shot by a M16 rifle. "Why didn't you just tell me that sweetheart?" I said with my heart broken. " I didn't want to hurt your feelings, I was holding it inside and took it out on Daisy. I'm sorry mom." he said sincerely. "It's ok, I'll straighten things out with your dad. You are still grounded though, ok?"
"Okay" he replies. I leave his room, in sympathy to go help my daughter.
