"What should I wear, Tine? "
"You have lots of party suits. Wear any of them. "
"Too many choices."
"Wear that black one. "
"Looks bland. "
"Blue suit looks quite good. "
"Nah, my eye colour won't pop out in that one. "
"Purple one. "
"Too flashy. "
"Brown."
"Boring."
"White would be okay. "
"Won't make me look powerful. "
"Pink."
"I don't want to look too cute."
"What do you want to look like? "
"Powerful, sexy and irresistible."
"Who do you want to look like that for? "
"Huh? No one."
"Gulf, why are you so restless? "
"I'm nervous, Tine. I don't know how I'm supposed to act around Mew. This fake dating seems dangerous and exciting at the same time. I'm not sure how I should handle this. I don't want to get too attached."
"You'll be fine, Gulf. I'll be there with you no matter what. If you want to back out, it's still not too late. You don't owe Mew anything. If it seems too much then say so."
"It's okay, Tine. I gave my word and I'll abide by it. It'll be all fine."
Gulf was ready by the time Mew came to pick him up. Mew was speechless at the sight of Gulf. He looked beautiful and adorable. He made sexy look innocent. His suit was such fine shade of red that it screamed seductive but those innocent eyes looking at him while he kept biting his lips, made Mew clench his fists.
Gulf was nervous at Mew's reaction. He looked pissed off. Maybe his suit wasn't okay for the party.
"Do I look weird? Should I change? "
"No." It came more loudly than Mew had wanted. He was too dumbstruck by Gulf's beauty to think about anything else.
"You look spectacular, Gulf. You always do."
This made Gulf blush. He hasn't been expecting the compliment.
"Let's go."
Their entry was highlight of the evening. Talk has been going around about Mew's boyfriend. He has only dated girls in past so this was quite unusual. No one had anticipated that Mew was gay. There were some mixed reactions regarding this.
Evangeline came to where Mew and Gulf were standing, "Good evening, Mew."
"Good evening, Evangeline. I would like you to meet my boyfriend, Gulf Kanawut. Gulf, this is Evangeline, our business partner."
"Hello, Gulf. It's first time I'm meeting you. Where did Mew hide you all this while? "
"It's nice to meet you. He hasn't been hiding me anywhere. I'm bit shy so I wasn't ready to meet you all. "
"Sweet of him. Where did you guys meet? "
"We go to same college."
"Oooh, college romance. Quite adorable. I heard you are quite a player. "
Gulf was shocked at her statement. He wasn't sure how to react to that. Should he deny it or should he be snarky? He didn't know how Mew wanted him to handle this. He didn't like Evangeline but he couldn't be rude to her.
"Yes, I was. But meeting Mew changed it all." And it was true. He hasn't felt like dating anyone since he met Mew.
"Eva, don't be rude to Gulf. "
"Sorry Gulf. I shouldn't comment about your personal life. Let's enjoy the night."
"Sure."
Gulf met lots of people that night. He was introduced as Mew's boyfriend. He didn't understand how was Mew going to keep it secret from his family. The event was on large scale and lots of big names in business industry where there so definitely they would talk about this with other people. His parents would get to hear about this one way or the other.
Gulf had told his parents that he was dating a guy. He didn't tell them it was Mew. He didn't want to go in details so when it ended he could just brush it off.
"Gulf, where's Mew? " A man in his 30's approached Gulf.
"Hello Mr. Lhong. Mew went outside to take a call."
"Okay. Are you liking it here? "
"Yes, the party is quite good."
"What about people here? "
"Everyone is so nice and welcoming."
"Do you really believe that? "
"Huh? What do you mean? "
"What makes you think they will willingly welcome you?"
"I don't understand what you mean? "
"You are a nobody in business world. They are only nice to you because you entered here with Mew. Suppasit is a name people admire and fear in equal proportion."
"I know that. I'm under no illusion that people like me for who I'm. But it doesn't matter to me either way. I'm not here to please anyone."
"No, you are here to keep someone away."
"W-what? " Gulf was getting nervous now. Dis he know about fake dating? Did Mew tell him? Or did he figure it out by himself?
"You don't look like someone Mew would date. "
"What is that supposed to mean? "
"You are a bit too shabby, immature and airhead for Mew."
"You don't even know me. How can you judge me like that? "
"I know enough about you. As for judging you, please look in mirror and you would understand I don't need to know you to make out what a pathetic gold digger you are. "
"What the hell? I'm not smacking you right now because we are in public. Don't you dare think you can insult me like that and get away with it. Whether I'm worthy of Mew or not, it's for him to decide.
I don't give a damn what you think about me because your opinion means absolutely nothing to me. Maybe wearing designer suit makes you feel like you're someone great but let me tell you, you've etiquette of a trash."
"I think you need to be taught your place. You'll regret those words, Gulf Kanawut."
Lhong parted after those last words. It made Gulf angry and uneasy at the same time. He decided against telling Mew about this. It was just a banter. No use making Mew fret over it. It wasn't a big deal. He could handle it on his own. How utterly wrong he was.
