The truth

*María's POV*

'All of the Teca army are marching through the Endless forest, my Lord' Zatz says while down on his knee.

'I can already taste their fear, mi amor' Mictlan says growling and looking over to Lady Micte, she giggles in delight. 'Your half-breed daughters will be a delicious sacrifice, beloved' he says while placing his thumb under her chin to see Lady Micte's face.

'Anything for you, beloved' she says back while leaning her head towards Lord Mictlan.

'Perhaps, showing the humans mercy-' Camazotz starts but is cut short by Lord Mictlan.

'General Camazotz, the only mercy in war is death' Lord Mictlan says with delight as he stands up from his place. Many laughs were echoed throughout the room, only General Camazotz gasped and Zatz eyes hardened with fear. 'And I shall be relentless...' Lord Mictlan says as he grinds his sword with his teeth. '.....in my mercy' He finishes.

Lady Micte looked a bit frightened as she looked between her husband and Ztaz the Prince of Bats who was still kneeling infront of them all. Zatz slowly closes his eyes and hangs his head. Lord Mictlan's words broke out through the temple once more.

'Don't wait up my darling, for tonight I pay a visit to an old acquaintance of yours' He says as he rises from his seat and flies over Zatz head and to the temple doors.

'María! María!' A voice shouted as the shook me awake. I gasp and jolt up with beads of sweat dripping from my body. I breath heavily as I look up at the people who woke me. Ma hermanos and mi hermana. I let out a breath of relief.

'Are you okay María?' Daggers asks as he places a hand on my shoulder. I look over at him and give him a weak smile.

'Could be better' I say softly. Lance moves so now he's kneeling in front of me.

'Your gift again?' He asks.

I nod.

'Its a gift not a curse María, remember that okay?' Shield says. I smile and nod at him.

'Ugh! Come on! We have to find out what Mama and Papa are talking about!' Maya says as she drags me from my bed. How did I end up in my bed? I swear I fell asleep on the roof. 'María!' Maya shouts. I snap out of my trance and look at her properly.

'Huh?'

She rolls her eyes. 'Grab the rope and belay down so we can listen to Mama and Papa' she says handing me a rope. I hesitantly grab it.

'O-okay' I say quietly and start walking down the side of the castles walls. I stop by the window of the room Mama and Papa were talking in. I listen in carefully with Maya in the same position next to me.

'Ay gordo, we need the other kingdoms!' Mama says as she paces back and forth. 'This could have been done with more diplomacy' she reasons.

'Diplomacy?' Papa questions her. 'You want Lord Mictlan to sacrifice Maya and María?' Papa asks. Both Maya and I gasp.

'Hold them Daggers' Shield says.

'I got them Shield' Daggers says.

'No I'm Shield! I think....' Lance says.

'Shush!!' Maya and I shush him as we both lean closer to the window.

'You should have told them the truth years ago' Mama says wrapping her arms around herself.
