Holly's POV

"Thank you." I said shyly. I never really talked to guys because I was scared of them. It was mainly because of my dad who beat me. I lived with him and my mom until she died when I was little. "I appreciate the help, Charlie." I smiled at him. Then I went to the classroom and hesitantly knocked. "No problem." I heard Charlie's smooth voice before his footsteps died away in the distance. In front of me, the classroom door opened. A short blonde-haired young woman opened the door and let me in. I gave her my schedule. The teacher looked at the sheet. "Well, you must be Holly." I nodded. "There's a seat over next Elizabeth. Elizabeth, raise your hand." A girl with black hair and blue eyes raised her hand, her fingernails painted sparkly blue. I walked over and sat next to her. "Hi, I'm Holly." I introduced myself, feeling more confident. We became friends and she helped me with classwork that I had to catch up on.

Charlie's POV

The day went by quickly, and it was lunchtime. I grabbed my food and sat with some friends, leaving two spots incase Holly and someone else wanted to sit with us. I looked around and spotted Holly with a girl I knew named Elizabeth. She heaved a sigh and looked around, then spotted me. I waved as she walked over there with Elizabeth. "May I sit here?" she asked. I was about to say yes when my friends laughed. Holly's face turned bright red, so I glared at my friends to give them a warning. "Ignore them," I said to Holly and her new friend. "The guys are just trying to be funny, but don't worry about it!"
