Happy Not Knowing by Luxaria

Summary:

Jihyo's had enough of her flatmate wandering around half naked, at this point she's not sure if her heart or her self control is going to give out first. And of course Nayeon, finding the whole thing completely hilarious, is not helping anything.

Notes:

This was written before Jihyo and Jeongyeon confirmed it wasn't Mina that was showering in the dark but still... it's funny. So I make the rules.

Also it massively spiralled out of control so I have split it into a few chapters, but it's all written so I'll upload them all this week.

Chapter 1: Please Don't Stir It Up

Nayeon first got the inkling that there was something more to Mina and Jihyo's relationship after two separate but distinctly connected events.

"I don't know, I like coming over to yours, it's a nice apartment with lovely people in it," Nayeon hummed appreciatively at the many fond memories of hanging out with Jihyo's ridiculously pretty flatmate. Jihyo herself made a noise of disgust at the insinuation, but she clearly found it hard to go much further than that, after all those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Yet, like a jealous... friend , she managed to work up some words to fight Nayeon.

"Don't talk about Mina like that."

She hadn't even been mentioned like that and yet she was at the forefront of Jihyo's thoughts. It was obvious to anyone that was not Jihyo that there was something more than best friendship being cooked up in the apartment, but the blinkers of best friendship were strong. Nayeon knew what Jihyo was thinking about at that moment.

The first event in the Mina and Jihyo " (When) Will They? " saga was a masterclass in comedy, of the second hand embarrassment kind. As she said when she relayed it to their other friends afterwards, if she could have filmed it there would have been a pilot episode of a sitcom waiting for her instead of the endless film school assignments on vague themes and characters .

"Hey Mina, I'm home! I brought Na- oh go - oh your shorts are short! ," Nayeon at this point almost walked into the back of the swiftly backpedalling Jihyo, " Ha ha oh wow ... Um yes, are they- are they new?"

Even from behind, Nayeon could see the physical, full body cringe that followed the question and she had to agree with the reaction. Jihyo could never have been mistaken for someone who was "cool" when it came to people she was attracted to, she would freeze up or stare at them more than could be passed off as normal.

Not that Jihyo had ever apparently been attracted to Mina, but she was only human and a bisexual one at that and no one knew better than Nayeon the way to Jihyo's... heart. Toned muscles and a sweet smile, a weakness she'd never admit to but was clear in her dating history.

The second event was harder to pass off, being a specific case of the "panic" forcing Jihyo to confront whatever feelings were beginning to appear.

When Nayeon got Jihyo's call, unusual for a person who refused to call for anything short of a literal disaster situation, she was on high alert.

She answered with a crisp, "Who's dead?", only to hear a strangled "She was naked in the shower Nayeon!" in return. Ah, a Mina problem then. Still , she thought as she reclined back onto her bed after shooting into an alert position upon receiving the call, there was time to annoy Jihyo at a distance , something she rarely got the opportunity to do.
