Four hours ago we were all rushed out the door and down to the hospital on the grounds at the edge of the property. Joseph, Kylie's grandfather,  barley awake and puffy eyes. Isobel and Lyla consoling one another with hope. Alfie, James and Michael have made multiple holes in the wall out of fury. Dimitri has been dragging every detail out of Sergio, who he has shot in the shoulder for letting Kylie get hurt. That kid really has something for her and he doesn't know how to get her to feel the same. I'm gonna have to talk to Isobel about that. Diego and Gino have been securing security around the hospital and ensuring all the school children got home safely. My mother has been trying to keep everyone fed and convincing us to get some sleep, but it hasn't worked. She and Joseph arrived in Manchester a few days ago and have been handling business down there, but once they heard of Kylie they raced to the hospital.

All we know so far is what Sergio told us. The only things he knew was that she demanded to be brought back here, she was shot in the left arm and shoulder and her right thigh. But from the amount of blood loss, she may have been hit in an artery in her arm, again, thankfully it wasn't the thigh or she could never walk again. Apparently she was completely fine on the drive back, drinking whiskey and talking. That was until she fell unconscious due to blood loss.

"Mr Williams." Dr. Miller announced his presence to Isaac who shot up out of his seat, stumbling slightly. The drugs that Kylie slipped him have only started wearing off so he's still a bit out of it.

"How is she?" Lyla and Isaac ask at the same time.

"The surgery went smoothly. We removed the bullets, but the one in her left arm seems to have pierced a previous wound from when she was younger. Do any of you know how she got that injury?"

"She was shot by the Russians when she was eight." Alfie seethes out sending death glares to Dimitri and Sergio.

"Right well, that shouldn't be an issue. The only difference to if it was her first time is that she might be in a bit more pain. The bullet only grazed her thigh so she won't need crutches or a wheel chair, only to take it slowly. Her shoulder was a flesh wound, so once again should be fine."

We all let out a sigh of relief. There has been many time we have almost lost her, but this was the closest we had ever come. Only she would be smart enough to notice a bin filled with bullets and a bomb though, so I guess we're lucky.

"Is she awake?" Michael asks concerned. He calmed down after the hole in the wall went all the way to the other side.

"Yes, but very very groggy so try not to talk too loud." With that Lyla, Isobel and Jasmine leap up from their seats and burst through the hospital doors towards the underboss quarters. That part of the hospital was designed when Ryan became my second in command as everyone knew how reckless he was.

Kylie's POV:

My room door slams open, sending me into a frenzy of pulling out a gun on the side table and aiming it at the door. But my eyes finally adjust and I see, Isobel, grandma and my mother looking at me with worried eyes.

"Are you okay?"

"What did we say about being careful!"

"Oh my god you've grown so much!"

First Lyla, then Isobel, and finally Grandma who I haven't seen since Christmas. She's not actually my Grandma, but she always was one to me so I call her that.

"I'm gonna kill those bastards." I mutter once I notice the bandages on my body and the burning sensation from the wound in my arm.

"Oh, she's fine." Isobel says causing us all to laugh. My laugh, however, brings a lot of pain.

"How are you darling." Lyla asks me.

"I'm shot. I though that was obvious." I sarcastically reply.

"I meant pain wise but thank you for the insight." She answers back with the same amount of sass.

"I feel like I was set on fire, ran over by a truck, and had a vampire drink me dry." I answer back truthfully.

"You really need to stop watching those Vampire shows." Grandma tells me.

"If you loved crazy psycho path vampires you'd be watching the Vampire Diaries with me." I resort.

They chuckle at me and shake their heads.

An hour passed by and everyone had come to see me. I caught up with Grandad and he told me what he did in retirement, which was mainly fly around the world. Isaac nearly took away my pain medication for drugging him but stopped when I made him admit how much he needed sleep. Sergio spent half an hour thanking me and apologising for tripping the wire, to which I punched him with my good arm to shut him up while I explained he did nothing wrong.

I was broken from my murderous thoughts by a knock at the door.

"Come in." I answer. Dimitri walks through the gap in the door. Fury and concern etched across  his face.

"How are you?" He usual rouged Russian accent comes out soft and sweet.

"I'll live." I shortly reply.

"Alfie mentioned a previous wound in the same artery. Does it hurt?" By now he is standing next to my bed, looking down at me.

"Yeah, your uncle sent a load of men to kill me." The memories of that day flash in my mind. The way the round about metal clinked with the bullet. The ear splitting scream of Lyla as she and Alfie put pressure on my wounds. The heartbrake on my dad's face when he saw me in pain.

"I'm sorry that happened to you." I just shrug my shoulders in response and he continues. "Back then, the only side of my uncle I saw was when he came over for Christmas with gifts and a warm smile. I lived in Italy at the time with my mother and Diego's father as she's his niece. I never knew about the mafia war until my father took power after you killed my uncle."

Sighing I just respond. "It's in the past now, nothing we can do about it."

And then we just sit in comfortable silence.

How the hell is my life this fucked up?
