Bonzo watches as Cara falls into a light sleep
next to him, her head landing on his shoulder as her
breathing turns slow and even. He was happy that
she felt comfortable and safe enough around him to
fall asleep. He knew that even though everyone likes
Cara , she didn't trust that many people to let her
guard down completely. He looks down at their
hands, seeing a faint blue glow coming from
between their hands. He remembered when she had
first revealed to him, Eliza, and Zed her gift.
It had been about three months ago when
they had found out. All of them had been hanging
out, doing their homework, at a little café in
Zombie Town after school. Cara was sitting
between Addison and Eliza with Zed and Bonzo
sitting across from them. Cara had just finished her
food and got up to throw it away in the trash. As
she was heading back over, a sharp pain suddenly
shoots through her chest and head. She doubles over in pain
and falls to the ground.
"Cara ," Addison exclaims as they all see her
fall, all run over to her.
Bonzo got to her first and kneels down to
help her up. The moment her hand touches his arm
her eyes start glowing and a bright blue glow comes from her hand. Bonzo feels his
strength slipping away from him. Through the pain
Cara starts to feel strength running through her,
glancing up she sees her friends around her and
realizes that her hand is on Bonzo's arm as he tries
to hold her up. Seeing the glow coming from her
hand, she jerks her hand away from him, falling to
the ground again.
"Sis, take my hand," Addison softly
commands.
Not wanting to hurt her sister or friends,
Cara shakes her head no.
"Cara , are you okay," Eliza asks, being the
first to get over the shock for the blue glow that
came from Cara .
"Yay, I will be. Just give me a moment,"
Cara painfully replies through clenched teeth.
Addison rolls her eyes at her sisters'
stubbornness and forcefully grabs her hand. Cara
tries to jerk away but Addison doesn't let go. The
blue glow comes back and before she can protest,
Addison says, "Don't, just let me help you Sis."
After a second, Cara drops her head in
defeat, letting Addison gently pull her into a hug.
Zed is about to say something when Addison shakes her head. Their friends silently watch the sisters as
Addison gently helps Cara up and walks her over
to the table they had been previously at. After a few
minutes, the glow fades away and Cara sits up
glancing at the worried and confused faces of her
friends. She signs as she knows that she had to tell
her friends about her being sick and her gift. But
she knew in her heart that she could trust them all
with her secrets.
"Sorry about the scare, guys," Cara softly
whispers, not daring to look at any of them.
"What exactly just happened?" Eliza
questions as she sits next to Cara .
Cara was quiet for a moment as she tries to
think of the best way to explain it to them. In the
end, she tells the three about how she was sick with
some unknown sickness and about her gift. After
that, all three promise to help her in any way they
could, include lending her their strength when she
needed it. She had tried to protest against it but
they would not take no for an answer. Cara was
very thankful for her sister and her friends'
protectiveness over her.
Bonzo shakes himself from his memory and
glance at Cara again. Seeing her peaceful face, he
was happy that he could help her. She was the first
human at Seabrook High School that accepted the
Zombies and was his first non-zombie friend. She had never once shun and judged them; she was only
ever friendly and helpful to them.
Sometime later, Cara is jerked awake by everyone
screaming in panic and Bonzo protectively wrapping
his arms around her. She looks around trying to
figure out what is going on, she notices two things
right away. First the bus was swerving back and
forth on the road, the driver had no control what
so ever on the bus. The second, for some unknown
reason to her, was Zed hanging off the side of the
bus by Addison's window.
"What the.
. " Cara starts to say before the bus
runs off the road and into the forest. She grips onto
Bonzo to keep herself from falling from her seat. She
notices Zed falling off the bus before they enter the
forest. The bus crashes through trees and then a
fence, after a few moments the bus comes to a stop
after running into a tree and some bushes.
"Is everyone okay?" Cara questions as she
slowly sits up, looking around to see if anyone was
hurt or injured
Everyone was a little shaken up from the
bumping ride, but no one was injured. A few nods to
her questions but before anyone could voice an
answer, all of their attention turns to Bucky. Bucky
had started looking around in panic and jumped up
from his seat in the front.
"Nothing can happen to me, I'm too
important," he yells as he runs to the back of the
bus, to the rear door.He throws the door on and tries to jump out
and run away. The key word there being 'tries', for
instead of him jumping out, he falls out the door and
lands flat on his face. Everyone starts to panic after
except for Cara and Addison. Cara was looking out
the door to her fallen cousin, laughing quietly to
herself about his misfortune. Addison stands up
from her seat looking at everyone.
"Everyone, stay calm," Addison calming tells
them.
"Great leadership Addie, very future Cheer
Captain of you," Bree replies.
Addison smiles for a second at Bree's
comment before she realized that Zed had fallen off
the bus and wasn't with them. With worry, she
moves out of her seat and runs to the back of the
bus, yelling "Zed!"
She jumps out of the bus and runs into the
forest, looking for Zed. Cara signs in frustration at
her sister's action before she gets out of her seat,
jumping out the back door she plans to follow her
sometimes reckless sister.
Bucky gets up from the ground in a daze
before he falls back in a dead faint. After seeing this
Cara turned back to everyone still on the bus.
Looking over to the ACEY's, Cara says, "Jacey, came
help Bucky. Lacey and Stacey, make sure everyone
stays together." "Where are you going?" Jacey asks with concern as he comes over to help out with Bucky. "I'm going after Addison, " she explains to him, "watch over everyone and stay safe." Jacey nods and with that Cara turns around and runs down the path Addison took. As she runs through the forest, a sense of peace and freedom runs through her the further she goes. After a few minutes, Cara stops in a small clearing looking around her, trying to figure out which way her sister went. Suddenly the feeling that she was being watched came over her. Looking around her surroundings, Cara strains her eyes and listens intently to the forest. Seeing a thick broken tree branch near her feet, she bends down and picks it up. Gripping it tightly in her hands, she slowly looks around at her. From the shadows of some trees in front of her, she hears a soft growling and sees a figure crouched down with glowing golden yellow eyes. The shadows was too dark for Cara to see the figure clearly but as she looking into the glowing eyes she knew that is was one of her pack siblings, either Wyatt and Wynter but she had a feeling that it was Wynter. She didn't feel scared at all for she knew that she was safe with her pack sister there. Suddenly, she senses a present behind her and realized that the growl wasn't at her and at whoever was behind her. Without thinking, Cara whips around swinging the branch at whoever was behind her. A clawed hand grabs the other end of the branch in mid swing, stopping its movement completely. Standing in front of Cara was a girl, who looked to be around her own age. She has dark skin and dark wild curly hair with what looked like purple tattoo markings on both her arms and a small one under her left eye. Her hair also has a white strip of hair in the front, similar to Wyatt and Wynter. Cara looking up into Her eyes; since she was about four inches taller than her; she noticed that her eyes were a golden yellow too and she bares her fangs at her letting out a warning growl. The moment their eyes connect, her growling stops and her eyes turn to a deep brown color. It was like the world stopped around them, like it was just the two of them only. For an unknown reason to Cara , she felt a pull toward the girl and she knew in her heart that she was about to play a very big role in her life, no matter how short it was going to be. A louder warning growl comes behind her and she knew that it was directed at the girl. Snapping for the weird trance she had been in, she grabs her arm with her free hand, twists her body around and flips her over her shoulder onto Her back with a heavy thud. The girl had a shocked look on her face as she stares upside down at her; she had not expected that at all. The figure, which turned out to be a girl whom Cara knew imminently was Wynter, steps out of the shadows laughing at what just happened. Cara takes a few steps away from the girl out of her reach in case she tried to attack her but she had a feeling that she wouldn't, either because of her or her pack sister she didn't know. Hearing a howl in the distance, Cara turns in that direction. Her gut was telling her that Addison was that way and was probably the cause for the howl. Turning around, she sends Wynter a smile happy to see her pack sister after so long. Wynter sends her a toothy grin back. Glancing down at the girl that was still on the ground, she sends Her a smirk tossing the branch still in her hand at her feet. "Better luck next time Wolf-girl," she tells Her with a wink. Turning around she takes off in the direction the howling had come from. After a minute she enters another clearing. In the clearing she see Addison and Zed hugging and Zed's little sister, Zoey, next to them. Zoey turns in Cara 's direction when she hears a branch snap. "Cara !!!!" Zoey exclaims once she sees her, running over to her. Cara gets to her knees and Zoey jumps into her arms. Zoey was special to Cara , she had seen the little girl like a little sister or even as her daughter the moment she met her. Cara had kind of stepped in as a female figure for Zoey once she found out that her mother wasn't in the picture. Zoey loved Cara as a mother figure too, both of them being very close and Cara being very protective of her. "Hey Little One,"Cara greets her with a loving smile and a soft kiss on her forehead. Cara stands up and taking Zoey's hand walks over to Addison and Zed. One look at her sister, Cara knew that she was freaked out about something and knew it had to do with the howling she heard earlier. Luan hears a bunch of running coming their way; she wraps a protective arm around Zoey and slightly pushes her behind her. She could also sense that they were being watched too. "There they are," a voice yells out as everyone else from the bus come into view. Cara watches her sister look over to everyone before she turns back to Zed and her still looking a little freaked out. "Sis, are you okay," Cara asks as she steps closer to her. "I'm fine." Addison assures Cara before she whispers to her and Zed, "but we're not alone, we're surrounded by werewolves." "Cool," Zoey exclaims with excitement. "What? Wolves?" Stacy exclaims. "What wolves?" Lacey exclaims. "Here, wolves?" Jacey exclaims next. "Werewolves!!!" all three exclaim in fear as they pull out their phone and start texting everyone they now about it. Everyone starts to panic again looking around, Cara just rolls at them. She knew that everyone was going to freak out and her mother and father were going to do something about it, most liking something that was going to affect the Zombies a lot more than the rest of the humans at Seabrook. She suddenly notices a tingling feeling coming from her right wrist. Looking down, she pulls back the sleeve of her light blue long sleeve shirt. She was shocked to see she had a new purple marking on the inside of her wrist; it was the outline of a wolf howling to a heart that looked like the moon. The girl she met earlier flashes in her mind, she knew she got this marking from her and knew what she was going to her. "Mates," she whispers quietly to herself, tracing the mark with her fingers lightly.
