The library was quiet as students' study and work
on their schoolwork. Cara silently walks down an
aisle as she browses the books, looking for Hamlet,
which she needed for her English class. Turning
down another aisle she finally finds the last copy of
Hamlet on the top shelf of one of the bookcases.
Cara reaches up, trying to grab the book but after a
after a couple of seconds she realizes that she was just a
little too short and the bookcase was just a little too
high. The book was just an inch or so out of her
reach. Letting out a sign, she shoots a glare towards
the book and bookcase as she tries to think of a way
to get the book.
Cara senses someone quietly approaching her
from behind. Momentarily forgetting about the
book, she turns around to see who it is. Standing
behind her was a boy, that she could tell was part of
her pack siblings pack due to his appearance. He
looks to be about her age and was an inch or two
taller than her. He has tanned skin like the rest of
the pack, with dark hazel green eyes and deep brown
hair with strands on the left side of his head that are
pure white. A trait that Cara realized that everyone
in the pack has in common. He also has dark purple
marks on his arms that look like claw marks.
She notices then that he was grinning, and
amusement was shining in his eyes. She instantly
figures out that he must have witnessed her attempts
to get the book. Her cheeks turn a little red in
embarrassment as she looks towards the boy, lifting
an eyebrow in question.
He lets out a chuckle before saying, "I'm sorry
Alpha, I don't mean to laugh. Do you need any
help?" Cara wonders briefly for a moment why he called
her 'Alpha' but decides to store that for later. She
would ask one of her pack siblings or her wolf-girl
later when she got to spend time with them and the
pack. Glancing up at the book that she needs and
then back to the boy, she smiles softly and nods.
Cara steps aside as the boy approaches and she
watches as he easily grabs the book.
Cara takes the book as he hands it to her, saying,
"Thanks for the help...
She trails off and gives him a questioning look, not
knowing his name.
"luca," he supplies as he flashes her a wolfy
grin, showing off his fangs.
"Well thank you again luca," Cara replies
returning the smile with one of her own.
"You're most welcome, Alpha," luca replies,
"see
you around."
"See ya,
" Cara replies as she watches him turn
around and head down the aisle.
Hugging the book to her chest, Cara heads back
towards the table by the window that her friends
had claimed at the start of the study period. As she
nears the table that Bree is sitting at, her wrist starts
to tingle. She knows that her mate, Willa, was
nearby, somewhere in the library. She glances around and notices that there are few wolves in the
library. She sees that luca is now sitting at a
small table that was few feet from her own table
with Wynter and another she-wolf. The three
appears to be reading books but she watches as
every few seconds they look at her table or around
the library, like they were watching out for someone.
Cara has a feeling that it was her sister and herself
that they were watching out for, she just did not
know why. As Cara sits down across from Bree,
Wynter and luca catch her eye, and both flash
her smiles that she happily returns before she opens
her book to start reading.
Storm gets up from laying under the table and
moves to sit next to Cara placing her head on Cara's
lap. Absentmindedly Cara scratches behind
Storm 's ears as she continues to read Act I of
Hamlet.
A couple of minutes later Cara scenes Addison
walking up to their table. Glancing up from her book
Cara sends a smile towards her sister which
Addison returns as she sits between her and Bree.
Cara notices that Wyatt was coming from the same
direction that Addison had just come from and was
heading in their direction. Her sibling mark starts to
tingle more the closer he gets.
'So, when he is near my mark tingles and the
closer he gets, the more intense it gets, interesting. I
wonder if he feels the same thing?' Cara thinks as
she watches him over her book. Wynter comes up to their table, drawing Cara's
attention away from her pack brother and to her pack
sister. Wynter is frowning as she gets into Bree's
personal space with Bree leaning back slightly with
confusion. Cara's jaw drops slightly as she watches
Wynter rip a page of Bree's homework from her
binder and start chewing on it.
"Hey,
" Bree exclaims, "that dog just ate my
homework!"
Cara coughs into her hand trying to hide her
laugh. Wynter looks to her and Cara winks at her,
amusement shining in her eyes.
Cara, Addison, and Bree jump slightly as books
slam down on their table by Willa.
"Lies," Willa angrily says,
"these history books
claim that werewolves attacked Seabrook Setters.
But they struck first and stole our Moonstone."
Wyatt moves to stand between Cara and Addison,
curious on what their reactions would be. A frown
appears on Cara's face at what wolf-girl had
said. She wonders if it was true and if so, then what
had truly happened back then.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know that" Addison says
apologetically.
"There's a lot you don't know," Willa replies,
glancing at Cara for a second before grabbing the
books off the table.
Willa turns around heading for the library exit.
Cara watches worriedly as her mate leaves, as she had noticed the hurt hidden in Willa's eyes.
Cara knew that most history books in Seabrook
painted Zombies and Werewolves as horrifying
monsters when they were simply different from the
humans of Seabrook.
"I know the alarm is going to go off if you don't
check out those books," Addison says loudly, not
wanting Willa to get into trouble.
Willa continues to walk away, taking off her
moonstone necklace and throwing it at the alarm
system at the doors to the library. The moment her
neckless hits the alarm, it sticks and shoots out an
electrical shock. Willa walks through without the
alarms going off, grabbing her necklace as she
passes.
Wyatt leans down between Cara and Addison with
his hand resting on the back of Cara's chair. A slight
Comforting feeling runs down Cara's spine with him getting so
close to her, which Wyatt notices.
"Our necklace have a way with electronics," Wyatt
explains to them.
Standing up, he sends a wink towards Cara as he
walks away following Willa. Wynter flashes a wolfy
grin she leaves too, luca and the other two
wolves following them.
"What just happened?" Bree questions.
"I'm not entirely sure," Addison replies. Cara shrugs, not sure what to say either. All she
knew was the pack was looking for something and
now she thinks it is the Moonstone, whatever that
was.
'I'll have to ask Wyatt what it is, ' Cara thinks to
herself as she goes back to reading Hamlet.
Bucky blows the Cheer Captain whistle, signally
that practice was over for the day.
"Alright Cheer Squad," Bucky says as everyone
gathers around him, "that is the end of practices for
today. Thank you Acey's for running practices
today."
The Acey's look smug as they high-five each other,
with Stacey and Lacey sending glares towards
Addison. Seeing this Cara moves closer to her sister,
glaring right back at them. Storm sensing her
Alpha's protectiveness and irritation, moves to sit in
front of the sisters softly growling at the Acey's.
Stacey's and Lacey's eyes widen with fear before
they move slightly away from Cara and Storm ,
avoiding looking in their direction again. Jacey
snickers quietly at what he just witnesses, sending a
wink towards Cara when he catches her eyes before
focusing on Bucky again.
"Now remember to spread the word around to vote
for me to become the new school president," Bucky
continues, "and lastly, tomorrows practices will be
ran by Addison.
With that said Bucky dismisses everyone. Cara,
Addison, Bree, and Storm head to the locker room
the change out of their uniforms before leaving
school for the day.
"So, Bree and I are going over to her house to
study. Would you and Storm like to join us?"
Addison asks Cara as they leave the locker room.
"Thanks, but we are going to Zombietown,
" Cara
explains as they walk down the hallway, "I want to
surprise Zoey. I haven't seen her in a few days, and I
want to introduce her to Storm .
"That sounds great! Tell Zoey that we say 'Hi',"
Addison replies with a smile. She was happy that
Cara was going to see Zoey, she knew how
important Zed's little sister was to her sister.
"Ya," Bree agrees brightly as they turn the corner,
heading down the hallway that Cara's locker was
located at.
Bree stops walking quickly grabbing onto Cara
and Addison's arm making both girls stop as well.
They look at Bree and see fear in her eyes as she
looks down the hallway. Both turn in the direction
she is looking in and they instantly saw what has
frightened their friend. Leaning against Cara's
locker, appearing to be waiting for someone was
Willa. Cara has a feeling that she was waiting for her
but did not entirely know why she was. As if sensing
the staring for the three girls, Willa looks up from
the book she was reading and towards the girls.
Catching Cara's eyes, she flashes her a wolfy grin,
sending butterflies fluttering in her stomach. "What is that wolf doing?" Bree asks worriedly.
"It looks like she is waiting for someone, and my bet
is that it is you, Cara," Addison says curiously.
"Why do you think that?" Cara questions with a
lifted eyebrow as she looked towards her sister.
Addison looks back at her sister with an unamused
look on her face saying, "don't play dumb with me
Sissy. She is waiting at your locker."
"Why would she be waiting for you?" Bree
questions.
"I don't know," Cara replies with a shrug, "I'll go
find out."
"Wait!" Bree exclaims as Cara starts heading
towards Willa.
Turning back to her friend and sister, Cara asks,
"What?"
"Do you think it's safe to do that?" Bree questions
worriedly.
"Why wouldn't it be?" Cara questions back with a
frown and slight irritation leaking through her voice.
Cara knew that most if not all her school peers are
scared and terrified of the wolves, but she still
thinks that they deserve a chance. As Cara faces her
sister and friend, she notices from the corner of her
eye Storm leaving her side and heading down the
hallway towards Willa. "Well," Bree says quietly, "a werewolf. She's
dangerous.'
"Ya she is a werewolf," Cara agrees before
continuing, "he and the rest of the pack are as
dangerous as the zombies. We are perfectly safe
and okay now with the zombies, and humans can be
just as dangerous too. Why can't we give the
werewolves a chance at all?"
"Sissy, she is just worried about you," Addison
says, trying to make peace before anything else
happened.
Cara closes her eyes and takes a deep breath,
calming herself down. She knew that her friend was
just worried about her.
"I'm sorry for snapping at you Bree. I know you are
just worried," Cara apologizes, as she lays a gentle
hand on Bree's shoulder.
"It's okay, C, I forgive you," Bree replies with a
smile before continuing, "and I'm sorry too.'
"It's all good girl," Cara replies as the two friends'
hug.
Pulling back from the hug, Cara points down the
hallway saying, "and look Storm apparently likes
Her.'
The three girls look down the hallway to see willa
crouching down with Storm sitting next to her,
with willa petting her. The girls laugh as Storm 's
tongue sticks out and her tail hits the ground
repeatedly as willa scratches behind her ears. "I have Storm to protect me, I know that one of
the Z-alarms is next to my locker, and quite honestly
I know I can manage myself. If she tries anything, I
will just flip her onto her back and have Storm sit
on her,''Cara says with a shrug.
Addison and Bree laugh at that, both knowing that
she would do that.
"Okay, well we are going to head out," Addison
says after she finished laughing.
She hugs her sister saying,
"I'll see you at home for
dinner."
Hugging her sister back Cara replies,
"Okay see
you then Sis."
"See you tomorrow girl," Cara says to Bree as they
hug again.
"See you tomorrow L,
," Bree replies with a bright
smile.
After that, Addison, and Bree head down a
different hallway towards the school entrance. As
her sister and friend turn the corner, Cara turns in
Willa and Storm 's direction. With an amused smile
at the attention Storm was getting, Cara moves
towards them. Willa looks up from petting Storm when Cara
stops in front of them. Willa sends her a smile, trying
to hide the slight hurt she feels when Cara's friend had
suggested she was a danger to her. She knows that she
is dangerous, but she would never hurt Cara, her
being her mate or not. She already was protected by
the pack for being Wyatt and Wynter's pack sibling.
She also knows from experience that Cara could take
care of herself. All she wanted was to get to know her
before her time was up, especially if they could not
find the Moonstone soon.
Cara smiles back but she could see the hurt in willas
eyes. That was when she realizes that she had heard
what Bree had said. Cara knows that she should
have expected willa to hear that conversation, what
with her sensitive wolf hearing. She feels bad that she
was hurt from what was said but she really hopes
that she did not think she feared her or the pack. She
knew deep down that she would not hurt her, at least
not on purpose.
"Hey,
" Cara greets softly.
"Hey," Willa greets back as she stands up.
Storm realizing that her pets and scratches are
done for the moment, licks Willas hand in thanks
before moving to sit next to Cara on her right side.
Storm was slightly wary of the werewolf pack
especially after one of them threatened her Alpha.
But she knew that some of the pack member if not
most of them cares for her Alpha to a degree. She
knew that the wolf standing in front of them cares
deeply for her Alpha and would protect her. Storm
hopes that this wolf and her pack can help her Alpha,
she knew that Cara was extremely sick and every
day she was getting worse, she hopes they can save her Alpha before she gets too sick and passes away.
"Have you been waiting for me?" Cara asks lifting
an amused eyebrow.
"Yes I've been waiting for you," Willa admits.
Cara glances around and notice that they were the
only ones in the hallway. She has a feeling that
Wyatt was the only wolf left at school, which makes
her wonder why. She had noticed throughout the
day that the wolves stuck together and at least two
wolves were always together. So, for Willa to be by
Herself was strange to her.
Looking curiously at Willa she asks, "Why have
been waiting for me and where is the rest of your
pack?"
"The pack is in Zombietown,'
" Willa explains, "we
were hoping you could spend time with us. I
volunteered to stay until you were done with your
cheer practice."
"Oh, okay," Cara replies to a little surprise.
She knew that she told the pack yesterday that she
would spend time with them today after practices.
She just assumed that she would see them in
Zombietown, which was another reason she was
heading over there today. She had not expected for
someone from the pack to be waiting for her,
especially her Wolf-girl. Willa sees that Cara was slightly surprised and
she could sense she was also nervous. Willa has a
feeling that she was the reason for that, which makes
Her think that she may know that they are mates already.
She glances down to her right wrist where Willa knows
that her mate mark should be if she has it. But she
could not see anything due to the long sleeve light
blue cardigan she was wearing over her light blue
dress.
"I hope that's okay," Willa says a little worried.
"No that's perfect," Cara assures her, "I was
planning to go to Zombietown, I just wasn't
expecting anyone to be waiting for me. Let me just get my
stuff out of my locker and then we can be on our
way."
Few minutes later Cara, Willa and Storm step
out of the school. the bright and warm sunshine
down on them. There are groups of students still on
the school grounds, all having just finished either a
club or sport that they were in. Cara can feel the
eyes of her peers burning a hole in her back as she
walks with Willa. She just ignores them as they
head towards Zombietown.
"So how was your first day of school?" Cara asks.
Willa takes a moment to think it over before
answering, "It was different then what I was
expecting. "A good difference or a bad different?" Cara
curiously asks.
"Definitely a good different," Willa replies,
"though the highlight of my day was seeing you."
Cara feels heat rush to her cheeks as she glances
down to Storm , who was walking in between them.
Looking back towards Willa she sees she is already
looking at her with a soft smile.
"How can I be the highlight of your day when you
barely know me?" Cara questions.
"For some reasons I guess,"
Willa said with a
shrug.
"Like?" Cara prompts her.
"Well to be honest, you are a mystery to me,"
Willa says.
"A mystery? How?" Cara questions lifting an
eyebrow.
"Well, when we first met you were able to flip me
over you and onto my back with little to no effort.
Then there is the pack sibling bond you share with my
Brother and one of my best friends without being an
officially part of the pack," she explains.
"A pack sibling bond?" Cara asks, wondering what
She would tell her.
Willa freezes for a moment, realizing what he had
just said. No one in the pack was sure if Cara was
aware of or had the pack sibling mark at all. After a second of thinking she decides to be honest with her.
She wants to have a good relationship with her, and
Willa did not want to start that with her lying to Cara.
"Ya when you first met and helped Wyatt and
Wynter all those years ago, a pack sibling bond
formed between you three. Because of that bond you
share, you are unofficially part of the pack,"
." Willa
explains to Cara.
"I'm unofficially part of your pack," Cara says in
shock.
Cara had known about the pack sibling bond the
moment she saw her marks. It had been like a little
whisper in her mind that called out the bonds once
she saw them and the same thing had happened
when she saw her mate mark. She just had not
thought that she was unofficially part of their pack
because of the bonds.
"Because of the bonds you share with two
members of the pack, which makes you part of the
pack. Both Wyatt and Wynter would do anything to
help and protect you. The pack helps and protects
each other and that includes you as well," Willa
tries to explain.
It is quiet for a few moments as Cara proses what
Willa had told her. Willa watches her silently as
she thinks, admiring how the sunlight shines on her
and her hair seems to sparkle. Cara looks to Willa to see her watching her as they continue to walk
down the street. Willa has a soft smile, and her eyes are
alite with affection towards her. She was still a little
worried that Willa would try to force her to be her mate
without her say. But she had noticed that Willa had not
mention the bond they shared. From what she had
seen that day at school and them talking now, she
has a feeling that Willa would not take her choice away
from her. One thing Cara has known all her lift was
that she could trust her instincts, which was telling
her that she could trust Willa.
"What about my other bond?" Cara asks.
Willa freezes again, once again surprised by the
question she asked. Looking into her eyes that
reminds Willa of the moonlight, she sees curiosity and
trust. Willa realizes that her suspicion of her knowing
about her bonds already might be truer than she
originally thought.
Wanting to know what she does know Willa asks,
"Your other bond?"
Cara smirks a little as she hears slight worry in Willa
voice. She though decides to continue to trust her
instances and show Willa and the rest of her pack her
marks and scars. Walking through the gates into
Zombietown, Cara leads Wyatt and Storm towards
one of the trees that grows by the gates. Once in the
shade of the tree Cara takes off her backpack and
sets it down next to Storm . She can sense Willa's
confusion; she flashes her a smile as she removes
her light blue cardigan and places it on top of her
backpack. Straightening up Cara watches Willa's
eyes zero in on her pack sibling marks and scars, then Willa eyes land on her mate marks on her wrist.
"Y....you......you have," Willa stutters, shock that
Cara has two pack sibling marks that match exactly
with Wyatt and Wynter's marks, as well as the mate
mark that matches Willa's.
Laughing lightly Cara response, "Yah, I have my
three bond marks."
Seeing that Willa was still speechless she
continues to explain,
"When I had woken up after
meeting and helping Wyatt and Wynter, my pack
Sibling marks had appeared on my left shoulder and
wrist. The moment I saw the marks I knew what the
were, what they mean. I do not know how but I just
do. After meeting you my other mark appeared and
the same thing happened. I know what it is and
what it means.
Cara can see hope in Willa's eyes as s
She looks at her
marks. She reaches out for Cara's right wrist stopping
before she touches her, looking for Cara's permission.
Cara nods and he sends her a sweet smile as he
gently grabs her hand. Willa's breath hitches as he
finally sees Cara's mate mark fully, her smile
growing as Cara shivers as she gently rubs her thumb
across her mark. Looking up and into her eyes Willa
sees happiness but also caution and nervousness
still.
"I am so happy that you trust me enough to show
me your bond marks and that you know what are," Willa tells her gently, "I understand that you are
probably worried about the bond you and I share.
"I am," Cara admits, curious what she was going to
say next.
"I thought so. But I want to assure you that despite
what our bond is, I will never force you to do
anything you do not what to. Including becoming
my mate or officially joining the pack,'
" Willa tries
to reassure her.
"Really?" Cara asks.
"Yes, I promise. All I want is for you to be happy
and for us to at least become friends," Willa
explains.
Cara thinks about what Willa has told her. She
looks down towards Storm , who is laying down
next to her backpack watching the interaction
between her and Willa.
"What do you think Storm ?" Cara asks lifting an
eyebrow questionably.
Storm stands up and moves in front of Willa and
Cara, sniffing their joined hands before she stares at
Willa for a moment. She could sense that the wolf
in front of her genuinely cares for her Alpha and she
knows that at least two others of her pack cares for
her as well. She still hopes that they will be able to
help her Alpha before it was too late. Moving to stand next to her Alpha, Storm nudges Cara closer
towards Willa. Cara laughs at Storm 's action,
understanding that was her way of saying they
should trust Willa. Looking into Willa's eyes, Cara
sends her a bright smile.
"I think Storm like you, and I know that I can
trust her judgment on people. I'd love to become
your friend and see where it takes us," Cara says.
"Great," Willa smiles as she squeezes her hand.
"Come on we better going,'
" Cara says as she lets
go of her hand and reached for her cardigan, "we
don't want the pack to start worrying about us."
Willa grabs her backpack before she can and
swings it onto her back. With a wolfy grin Willa bows to
her saying, "After you my lady.
"Why thank you," Cara playfully replies back with
a curtsy pausing for a second before finishing,
"My Wolf-girl." Both laugh as they move from the shade of the tree, Storm falling in place next to Cara on her left side with Willa on her right side. They head further into Zombietown, heading to one of the little cafés that the rest of the pack was sitting at. 'I may not truly now my Wolf-girl or pack siblings or their pack, but I'm willing to get to know them. Especially since I do not have a lot of time left, Cara thinks as they move closer to her pack siblings and their pack.
