Langa watched as Reki devoured his dinner. One hand kept reaching out to the prime. He would touch his knee, his hand or arm then pull back. To the prime he looked so cute. Reki’s mother sat beside him. She too was doing the same little gestures to her son. Her twin daughters, well they had taken to this life far easier.
Laughing as they chased the large dark wolf around, they would randomly pop in and out of their wolf form. The first few times this happened they would sit stunned in whichever form they found themselves. But, now they just continue the chase. The alpha was occupying them while his friend could have some peace.
The Kyan clan sat around the large room. These were Reki’s cousins, friends, people he grew up with. Not a one was older than their alpha. Reki was in a whole new world. He felt like he was drowning with how much his life changed suddenly. Each time he felt over whelmed thinking about it, he reached for the prime. When he realized what he was doing he pulled his hand back.
“I remember it all.” He told the boy beside him. “All our talks. Everything you taught me about this.” Reki gestured to the assembled crowd. “I just don’t know how to be a leader of a clan.” He sighed as he finished his food.
“You don’t have to be one over night. You can choose a mentor.” Kaoru explained sipping his tea. “A trusted alpha, to help you through this transition.” The pink haired beta smiled. “Besides, you are not alone. As the Prime’s mate, you have twenty other alpha’s to help you.”
“Not Adam!” Reki growled. Only Langa’s reassuring hand prevented him from changing. Reki had figured out how to do it over the last few hours. Still, his emotions still forced or prevented a change. Only time could help with that. He ate nearly everything they could give him, as he worked at learning to change. The first change always took such a toll on one’s body.
“Would Kojiro…?” Reki looked away. The large alpha had done so much for him already.
“Kojiro would be honored to assist the prime's mate.” The huge alpha stated. He had transformed to tell them. “Once he officially becomes the prime’s mate. Until then, I would be happy to assist my friend.” He smirked, swinging one of the twins up who clung to his arm. He transformed back.
“No one cared that he was nude.” Reki pointed out.
“We don’t hold by outside standards here. We all understand the change and how it differs from what the real world concerns are.” Kaoru explained. Reki nodded. He yawned hugely.
“You need rest.” Langa stated. Reki turned laying his head on the boys shoulder.
“Didn’t I sleep all day?” he muttered entwining their arms.
“Yes, but that wasn’t restful.” Langa pointed out. Reki sighed. His eyes closing as Langa held him.
“You have the vote coming up. Plus, what do I need to do to claim you?” he asked already half asleep.
“There is a ceremony. Similar to a wedding.” Langa told him. Reki was asleep, his mate gently running his fingers through his hair.
“We could postpone the vote…” Kaoru began. Langa shook his head.
“No, allow Reki to sleep for a while then, we will hold the vote, and the ceremony.” Langa stated.
“Which one first?” Kojiro asked. He had slipped sweat pants on to come sit with everyone. Langa raised, then lowered the shoulder Reki wasn’t on. He looked away.
“Miya is a beta.” Kojiro stated out of no where. “The twins are too young to tell. As of right now, he is the only alpha in his clan.”
“His home will need to be remodeled. Fix it up. The family can live in the house as it is, but they will need a meeting room and guest rooms. Other things the other clans have.” Langa whispered.
“He’s young. They will challenge him.” Kaoru pointed out. Langa turned to face him.
“I know.” He stated. Lange laid Reki down. The couple slept for a few hours. The noise of the other alpha’s arriving woke the prime. Reki wasn’t beside him.
“Reki!” He yelped as he bolted upright.
“Relax, he woke about half an hour ago.” Kaoru pointed. Reki sat with his pack. Kojiro talking to all of then. “He is explaining what’s happening now.”
They took a light meal. “Reki, I need to ask you this…” Langa paused looking down at their joined hands. “Do you want to be my mate?” he whispered. Reki chuckled. In response he lifted the boys chin up. The smile slipped from his face, but his eyes still glowed with it. He leaned in, pressing their lips together. Eyes slowly closing as they melted into each other..
“I told you, I chose you before this happened.” Reki stated as he pulled away. “Now that I have all my memories back, I know I have loved you my entire life. There is no one else for me, but you, snowflake!” he giggled at the old name. Langa smiled with their heads together.
“We will not be able to take the customary two weeks honeymoon. Not with me being a new prime, and you as a new alpha with your own clan.” He frowned.
“Then we do it in a year. Let’s get this sorted out first.” Reki offered. Langa kissed him.
“Prime, it’s time.” His mother told him. Langa stood.
“Reki, bring your pack out.” He instructed. Kojiro had them ready. The Kyan clan would be the only ones allowed omegas here tonight. Eighteen of the twenty six people that made up his clan were omegas. This wasn’t unusual in a clan. The other six were beta’s. Again not entirely unusual. The twins were still unknown. The only thing unusual about this pack, other than how young it was, was that Reki had emerged as the only Alpha. Most packs had two to four alphas. This would be hard for the young leader.
Kojiro came over to Reki’s side. He was fully dressed as the leader of his clan. His mate walked beside him. Reki nodded. Together they walked down the long corridor and out into the meeting hall. There were more than one shocked face in the crowd.
All of the alpha’s could sense the presence of another alpha. Many repositioned themselves to protect their mates. Kojiro led Reki's clan to stand beside his own. This was customary since the alpha had agreed to assist the new clan. Typically the newest clan would be placed at the back of the room.
Langa came out dressed in the traditional outfit of a prime. He wore a simple blue robe. Silver etchings shimmered in the lights. Upon his head he wore a crown of sorts. It was made of thorns, woven together. Every prime from the dawn of the clans had worn this crown. Langa stood before the gathered alpha’s.
“Thank you all for attending. As you saw there has been some new developments.” He held his hand out to the redheaded boy. Reki held Nanaka in his arms. Chihiro was held by Kojiro.
“The Kyan clan has reformed. My mate, Reki Kyan is their alpha. They are a young pack, one who will need guidance. Kojiro Nanjo has agreed to help the new aloha learn his role.” Langa bowed to the large alpha. “For that I thank him. From this day forward, the Nanjo/ Sakurayashiki clan will be the first clan in my new regiment.” New Prime’s often formed alliances with alphas behind closed doors. Then shifted the pack standings around.
Kojiro looked as surprised as everyone else. He bowed. “Kojiro, please led your pack to its rightful place.” Langa instructed.
“Stay here.” Kojiro told Reki. The boy nodded as Miya accepted the little girl Kojiro held. Kojiro moved with his mate, his second and third alphas and the six other betas he had brought to the meeting. They shifted up as the old first clan shifted sideways. Each clan moved to their new place.
“Reki Kyan is my mate. He has agreed to the ceremony. Please, I wish to hold this before the vote.” There was agreement within the clans. Reki sat Nanaka down. She leaned against Miya’s legs.
Reki walked past where the humans stood, off to one side, they could watch the proceedings but had no voice in what the clans decided. His mother and oldest sister stood with the prime’s mother. Reki walked up on the raised daises.
Kaoru stepped from beside his mate. The Sakurayashiki clan had always been the ones to preform this ceremony, for any who had desired it. For typical mates the ceremony wasn’t necessary. If they chose to have it, then they could. It was only a formality for the prime. A joining that all clans could celebrate.
Kaoru had instructed Reki on what to do. As the redhead took his place beside the prime, he didn’t touch him. Kaoru came up with his back to the crowd. A red and blue ribbon in his hand.
“Do you, Reki Kyan, Alpha of the Kyan pack agree to stand beside, grow and offer your obedience, guidance and love to your mate Langa Hargrove?”
“I do.” Reki stated. Kaoru nodded. He turned to Langa.
“Prime, Langa, do you accept this alpha as your mate, chosen partner, to honor, listen to and protect him and his clan with your life?”
“I do.” Langa smiled into the amber eyes of the glowing boy beside him.
Kaoru tied their wrists together. He turned as one of his betas handed him the mates crown. “Reki, as the mate to the prime, I crown you.” Kaoru placed the green twig crown on the brow of the boy. He then stepped back. Bowing he announced. “You are one!” They kissed to the applause of those gathered. It was customary that their joined hands not ccme apart for the first twenty four hours.
Once Kaoru went back to his mate. Langa turned. He looked each of the twenty leading alpha’s in the eye.
“Now, you must vote.” The twenty alphas walked to where two circles were drown. One blue, for the prime, one orange. Seventeen of the alphas stepped into the blue circle. Each one taking a knee and proclaiming their alliance to the new prime.
There were three who stood in the other circle. One being the Shindo alpha. There was a young female. She was new to her role as the head of her clan. Having accepted it when her mother passed. This was one month before Langa arrived. The Shindo alpha had graciously agreed to mentor here. Langa wasn’t surprised by her choice.
The third did surprise the young prime. It was an older alpha. One who had served his grandfather graciously. “Shoto, I don’t understand?” Langa whispered.
“You are new to our lands, to our ways. I am old. I do not like this change. I would prefer to die in a fight with you, then wither away in my bed. My grandson will take up the pack when I am gone. He will decided the future for them.” The old man stated.
“I could invoke…” Langa paused at seeing the fire in the old man’s eyes. He bowed his head. “I will honor your wish, friend.” He stated.
“Tonight we will celebrate my union with my mate, the forming of a pack lost to the clans and my loyal friends.” Langa called out. “Tomorrow, evening, I will wait at the park, under the midnight sun. I will have only my mate. Come then and we shall settle this dispute.” There were cheers all around.
“Your mate didn’t pledge their allegiance to you!” The Shindo alpha stated. Reki smirked. He dropped to his knee, keeping their joined hands in full view. Bowing his head he recited the words Kojiro had drilled into him. The ancient words that would bind an alpha to its prime. He said that as the other seventeen had as well. Once done, there was a commotion.
A low growl was heard. The clans shifted. To everyone’s shock, a lone wolf stood among the humans. “Koyomi!” Reki cried. The wolf howled in terror.
“Do not fret.” Kaoru walked up to the startled girl. He placed a hand on her auburn head. “It appears, the Kyan clan has a secondary alpha.” Kaoru turned to look up at the prime.
“Koyomi, change.” The prime directed, once a human servant placed a blanket in Kaoru’s hand. The girl was wrapped up in it. She shook against the beta’s chest.
“I wasn’t feeling well, but I just thought it was from all the stress.” She whispered.
“You are safe, don’t worry.” Kaoru let her go with the humans that served the clans. They got her dressed.
“You must come up with a color, a shield and a motto for your clan.” Kaoru stated. As Reki looked to where his sister had gone.
“Tomorrow. Let’s feast, dance and be merry this night!” Langa cried. That was what happened.
