I'm actually not alone in having a headcanon that Jack is autistic.

He finds a new special interest (Christmas) and talks about it a lot and shares it obsessively with the town (info dumping). He also has a hard time understanding/picking up on social cues, like when Sally gives his the gift and he just sees it as a friendly gesture, or when the military was shooting at him and he thought they were celebrating. Jack also shows a lot of hyper focus during the scene in his tower where he was trying to understand Christmas and what it means. He stayed up there for such a long time that the entire town got concerned (something I've done where I was so focused on my hobbies that I barley left my room and my mom was super worried for me).

Also, in the beginning he expresses that he feels different from the rest of the world and those around him, a very common feeling autistic and neurodivegent people experience.
