Hope had heard many stories about vampires turning off their humanity and how many of them became monsters. Truthfully she had no intention of becoming one of these supposed monsters unless it was necessary. She just wanted to be free from every emotion that was weighing her down. Turning off her  humanity was a burden off of her shoulders and she intended to keep it  that way.

The Tribrid walked through the halls of the Salvatore School. She knew it was only a matter of time  before people began to figure out her humanity was off so she was going to pack her things and get the hell out of there.

Josie has been hanging out with Hope as usual, before she notices that  something was off. She heads to her father's office to talk to him. He tells her that Hope is planning to leave and that Josie's assignment was  to turn her humanity back on. This was hard for Josie because she  doesn't know what being a vampire or a tribrid is like, especially one that was hurt too many times. Josie has been hurt, just not as bad.

One day, Josie goes to Hope's dorm and knocks on her door,

"Hope, can we talk?" She asks.

Hope had been in the middle of packing her things when Josie knocked on her door. She opened the door.

"We can, but that depends on what you want to talk about." She started looking at the taller girl.

Josie looks at Hope "I know what's been going on," she stutters out, "Want to talk about it?"

"Not really," Hope answered honestly turning around to finish her packing. "But I know that's not going to stop you from talking about it. So give me whatever speech you have prepared and get along with your day."

Josie sighs,

"Hope there are so many people who care about you. I know the pain that you are going through, but if you want to move on, you have to find someone to fill that void and don't ignore your feelings because that doesn't help no matter how much you think it does, it'll just cause more pain to people who love you and yourself in the end..."

"I'm not ignoring my emotions. I just don't have them anymore, I'm free and if you really cared about me you would respect my decision." Hope said to her as she closed a suitcase full of many of her belongings.

"I would respect your decision if it wasn't stupid." She didn't realize what she was saying, "I love you Hope. Everyone does! Your smile, your laugh, your hugs, your overprotectiveness," she started getting more descriptive, "Your hair, your face, your looks, your everything Hope! You're everything to me and I love you... is it too much for you to understand that there are people who love and care about you?"

"Josie just stop!" Hope exclaimed. Losing control of her emotions was the last thing she needed and yet it was like the switch in her head had gone to war with itself. "Everyone I have ever loved has died." She whispered quietly.

Josie looks at her, with a smile,

"I'm not..." she says, tearing up, "I'm not dead, Hope! I've been near death so many times, but I'm not dead... Lizzie isn't dead, Kaleb, MG, my dad, this entire school, isn't dead because of you. You saved us all..." she takes a deep breath, "But does that matter to you? I understand that you are hurting, and I understand that you've lost so many people, but you never think about the people that you've saved, and ever since I've met you, you saved me... mentally and physically,"

Hope looked over at her she stayed quiet for a moment unsure what to say.

"I'm tired of having to save people and I'm tired of losing them." Hope sighed. "There is always something to fight, always more people to save and fail."

"But there are also people that will never leave you, there's always that one person that will stay with you, always and forever... and that person is standing right in front of you Hope." she stutters, "I will always be here for you whenever you need a shoulder to cry on, a sidekick, someone to look up to, I will be there for you," she smiles, crying, "I panda promise."

Hope  couldn't help but smile slightly and just like that the switch flipped.  She felt tears fall down her face.

"I couldn't save him." She said quietly. "I should have been able to do something to save him."

Josie runs up to her, hugging her,

"I know, I know, it's okay none of this is  your fault, whatever you do, do not think that this was your fault, it's not your fault, we will find every possibility to get him back, I  promise,"

Hope returns the hug crying into her shoulder.

"Thank you." She said softly. Hope knew that she had a whole lot of things to sort through and one of those things was the heightened emotions that came with being a vampire. Truthfully she wasn't sure how she would move on or if she ever would, but she knew that she just had to keep on fighting for those she loved.

Josie smiles, "Anything for the panda crew," she laughs, "But everything I said is true, you need to find another person to fill that void,"

"And who would you suggest so soon?" She asked quietly as she sat on the bed in her room.

Josie locks eyes with her, sitting on the bed with her,

"I don't know... who do you think?" She asks.

"There is only one person that I can think of, but I'm worried it's too soon," Hope said worriedly. "I'm also worried I might hurt them." She added quietly.

Josie smiles,

"Take your time Hope," She looks away from Hope, whispering, "Take your time,"

"What if I can't handle being a vampire? What if I can't ever move on because of that?" Hope asked as she began to feel dryness in her throat that came with the hunger of being a vampire. She wasn't surprised by this as she hadn't fed since she transitioned.

Josie sighs,

"Well... I believe in you Hope, you just have to believe in yourself," she locks eyes with Hope, once more, "And I'm telling you right now, if you have to feed on me," She takes a breath, "Then feed."
