Chapter-3: The Drive

Beam POV:

I don't know why I am like this. Why am I stuck with these feelings? I should be happy with my friend's happiness. But I don't know why I feel like this.

I have been seeing ming making moves on Kit and Kit being shy about him. It hurts to see the person you love, I love someone else.

But I don't blame him, he is free to be with anyone. I should be happy for his happiness.

Ugh.

But yesterday and today are the first time I felt like someone wanted me to be happy. And took care of me. Pha took care of me at my lowest, I know taking care of drunk me might have been very annoying, but he didn't complain at all. He took care of me patiently and made me happy. I am thankful that I have Pha in my life. I know Pha, Kit, and Forth are all worried about me, Kit even without knowing what happened still is worried and messaging me almost every time. I am happy to have friends who love me to this extent. Why am I like this? Why am I making my friends worry? I should get my shit together.

Pha offered to take me to the beach today and to eat lunch at the new Korean shop. I don't want to bother Pha but he won't let go. The last 2 days have been the most peaceful in a while.

I packed my bag for the beach. I think I need this break. I freshened up and zip up my bag.

I locked my door and waited downstairs in the lobby for Pha to pick me up.

Pha POV:

I packed my bag and drove back to Beam's dorm. As I reached I saw Beam in the lobby waiting for me.

I stopped in front of him, he saw me and put his bag in the back seat, and got in the passenger seat.

"Let's go! " I said to him as I started driving to the beach.

"Yes! I got a playlist, hope that's fine," he said as he plugged in the cord.

"Ya sure, I don't mind," I said to him as I drove.

We enjoy the comfortable silence as we drive.

After a while, I stopped at the gas station.

"I will get us some snacks from the convenience store," Beam said.

"Okay, I will get the gas," I said to him as we both got out of the car.

I filled up the gas and paid. And Beam got snacks during that time. We both get in the car and start driving again.

After a while, I looked at the side and saw Beam was peacefully sleeping. I didn't want to disturb him so I continued driving to the restaurant. It's a late lunch anyways.

After an hour of driving, we reached the Korean restaurant.

"Beam wakes up, we are here," I said as I woke up.

"uh...oh I am sorry I dozed off," he said as he woke up.

"It's okay now let's go"

I said to him as I opened the door to get out.

I stretched a bit after getting out of the car. Beam stretched his back and we got into the restaurant.

We found a nice corner table and called the waiter to take the order.

"Good afternoon gentlemen, can I get you water as you decide on your order?" The waiter asked as she gave us both menus.

"Yes, please. I told her" I told her.

" Okay. Take your time" she said and left.

"Order whatever you want, it's my treat," I told Beam.

"No. I have done a lot, I don't want you to pay for this too," he exclaimed.

"No. This whole trip is my treat to you. Okay? Don't worry." I told him as I browsed the menu.

"You are pampering me too much. Stop before I get used to it Pha." Beam said as he looked at the menu.

I looked up from the menu and said "I want to pamper you okay, I don't mind if you get used to it."

He looked up and stayed silent. I can see his face red.

"Don't say things like that Pha!! " he exclaimed and hit me with the menu.

I laughed as I dodged his hit, he laughed with me and continued to hit me. I am happy that at least he is having fun.

We ordered food and talked while we waited. We ordered some soju to go with the food. And we had fun eating and drinking.

After we were done we went to the counter to pay. The old lady at the counter smiled kindly at us.

"Aw such young happy soul, I love that you guys are so happy, hope that you stay the same in future," she said as she got us our bill.

"Thank you," I said to her.

We paid and left the restaurant.

"I will drive the rest of the way, you have been driving a lot.." Beam said.

"No, that's fine. As I said, it's your day. I am treating you. I will drive." I said as I got in the driver's seat.

"But-" Beam started. "No buts get in," I told him.

He got in the passenger seat and we drove to the beach.
