Newt nervously straightened the tie around his neck anxious and fidgety. He was told not to be nervous to soak in the day like sunlight to a flower as if the sun would not be there the next day, to cherish these moments and remember them for eternity. But he didn't need to remember what he wore or what color were the flower on the ground near the hill all he need was the feeling; the feeling people had described to him the feeling that his sister told him about all he needed was that.

Everything is going to be fine, calm down

Still, no matter how many times he told himself he couldn't stop the worries interlacing his thoughts leaving him sweaty and slightly scared. He debated leaving and telling everyone to go home but that was a stupid cowardly thing to do.

"Hey" He turned to see his sister dressed in yellow standing in the doorway, "You ready?"

Newt pursed his lips his fingers tapping on his thigh.

"I don't know" He replied his voice soft "What if it's not right what if something goes wrong?"

Lizzy gave a sweet smile before coming to sit next to him,

"You got this," she said her confidence and faith in him filling his body.

So long he had tried to run from fear, in the maze, the scorch, the crank palace, and now all these people were here to see him. He would not cower away now, he would find his source of confidence, his friends, he takes Lizzy's hand, his sister, Thomas.

As he walked through the doorway, squeezing his sister's hand, her soft warm hand contrasted with her rings' cool smooth feeling, which she always kept on her middle fingers instead of her ring fingers. His head went to the memory of when he had asked her about it, and she grinned at him looking over at Harriet,

"Sort of our own sort of rebellion," she said discreetly before kissing her wife and walking away.

Another thought came to his mind, the day his sister had gotten that ring her face filled with nothing but love and not a trace of doubt. He had held her hand as she walked down the aisle to her awaiting fiancée, he had cried and held on to Thomas as they said their vows and was the first one to go up and congratulate the newlyweds. He had wondered what it felt like and tried to picture the feeling from his sister's description. He reached for his pocket where the small velvet package pressed against his leg; he was finally ready.

He let out a nervous laugh still fingering the box. That night had been amazing, dinner at a café, followed by a walk up the hill sitting on a picnic blanket. The crisp not yet cold air made Newt sigh and push closer to his boyfriend, his head on the other boy's shoulder and Thomas's hand on his thigh. He would stay this way forever if he could their bodies merged just as their hearts were in a love that only comes with the person you are going to spend the rest of your life with. The person that makes butterflies erupt in your stomach when they look at you, and your tongue knot when you try to speak, the person who you love with all your heart as they love you with all theirs.

As the sun was beginning to set, he rose his head from his partner's shoulder making Thomas stir as well his eyes lazy and slightly drowsy. He grabbed Newt's hand as they both got up and as he bent down to collect the blanket Newt lowered down to one knee. He waited for a few seconds for Thomas to turn around before he cleared his throat. As the brunette picked up the newly folded spread, he turned to face the love of his life. His hands flew up to his mouth at the sight of Newt with a beautiful ring in hand. A radiant silver band etched with words covering the whole front.

Newt cleared his throat again before beginning,

"Tommy" He started "I remember when you came up in the box the first time seeing your beautiful face, I remember when you ran into the maze to save your friends with no fear. I remember when I kissed you on this very hill and thought that no matter what happens I will have shown you I love you just as I'm doing right now. You are the most amazing, beautiful, courageous person I know, and I want to spend every single day with you, year after year, and be content knowing that I'm in love with you and only you. You are the other half of my heart I've been missing for far too long. All of that saying I will love you until the end of time and I want to make this just as permanent so will you marry me?"

Thomas had tears streaming down his face in waves, but he managed to nod before wrenching Newt to his feet and enveloping him in a passionate kiss. Thomas's lips were salty from tears mixed with the sweet taste of chocolate from dessert earlier and was strangely addicting. That was it, he was addicted to this boy and every little thing about him.

When they pulled apart Newt slipped the ring on his fiancée's finger beaming. Thomas was wiping the tears away when a flash appeared beside them. Lizzy and Harriet crotched behind a rock, a camera in his sister's hand. Newt was just thinking about scolding her when Thomas laughed. It was the kind of laugh that made Newt's heart sing and his insides do a tap dance. Soon all four of them were giggling uncontrollably.

"Where you here the whole time?" Thomas asked half concerned, half curious.

When she nodded Newt's face turned pink and he slapped his forehead with his hand in embarrassment at the fact that his sister had just listened to him pour out his love. Harriet smiled pointing at her wife as if to say-

It was all her don't blame me.

Thomas removed Newt's hand from his forehead and kissed his palm before wrapping his arm around his boyfriend's now fiancée's waist filling Newt's insides with warmth.

"We should probably head back soon," Thomas said helping to change the subject sensing his embarrassment.

"Yes," Harriet agreed "Everyone will want to know how it went."

"And I have it on video" Lizzy added smugly making both Newt and Thomas blush deeper.

"We'll meet you down there," Newt said, and the couple made their way down the hill leaving Thomas and him alone apparently for the first time tonight.

"I love you" He whispered in Thomas's ear before hugging him tightly.

Thomas responded by kissing his cheek and hugging him back. Standing there as the night just began to start and the other boys armed around him, he felt a part of his heart emerge that he thought was gone forever a long time ago. But of course, that was silly because broken things can be fixed and things that are gone can be found. And here he was found.
