After the shocking revelation by Beth, Blake was still at a loss for words. This werewolf was a dear friend and brotherly figure, Ivan. Blake looked at Beth for some sort of explanation.

"It's a long story, Blake," Beth asked exhaustedly. "But I promise to-"

She was cut off by the sound of ground-shaking growl and thundering sound of feet headed straight for them. In all his glory, Ryker in wolf form emerged from the tree line wild and frantic and instantly zeroed in on Blake. He trotted towards her, and out of fear Beth stepped back as she recognized that it was the very same beast that took her best friend away and threatened her colony. In one swift, yet-careful movement, Ryker scoped his mate up in his arms, buried his snout in her neck, and inhaled her scent. Holding her close to his fur-clad body

This action was visibly calming him, however, he was still on edge with the presence of these strangers. Blake notice that Ryker was still hostile towards her friend and told him to stop after she pulled out of his embrace.

"Ryker, shift back to normal. Now!" Blake ordered the Alpha and Beth was watching her friend in awe giving orders to a werewolf, especially to an alpha male.

"Don't you tell me what to do!" Ryker growled baring his teeth. "I am the Alpha and it is my job to protect our pack from these dangerous-"

"They are not dangerous, they are my friends and you will not do anything to them or else!"

"Or else what?" Ryker pressed giving her a daring looking in his eye.

"Or else will never forgive you, continue to hate you, and never accept being your luna," Blake threaten, and Ryker growled loudly at this.

Ryker was silent for a couple of minutes, but in the end, he conceded to his mate. He ordered a pack member to bring him some shorts and then shifted back to his human form and slipped them on.

"We will talk at the pack house," The Alpha announced "Shift, rogue!"

Soon after, Ivan shifted back to his human form. One of the pack guards tossed him some shorts which he was grateful for.

"Thanks! Not just for the shorts, but with the thing with my wolf," Ivan explained.

"Okay, let's get to the pack house so we can get an understanding," Blake trailed to wildly flail her hands to Ivan. "... Of what the hell that was."

Everyone walked back to the pack house in silents. A few pack members glanced at the unfamiliar faces as they followed their Alpha and Luna to the office. Some watched with wariness in their and others were just curious. This is natural because it is not often that their Alpha allows rogues onto his land, let alone into his pack house. Ivan, however, found all the attention suffocating, but he was able to sigh a breath of relief as they entered the sanctuary of the office. Ryker pulled Blake to sit on his lap as he sat behind his desk. Blake was still upset with Ryker, but she was putting her feelings aside, for now, to focus on the bigger problem. The problem being that Ivan was a werewolf.

"Where should we begin?" Beth huffed out.

"The begin seems as good a place as any," Blake pressed.

"Okay... It was a couple of days after we were raided by," Beth pointed her finger at Ryker. "This guy and his pack of mutts!" Ryker growled at that remark, but Blake told him to hush.

"Out of nowhere, there was a squad of vampires laying in wait for us. We tried to fight back but were we clearly outmatched. Some of us got away, but the few who were unfortunate were either killed or captured. Among the unlucky ones captured was... the Captain. And as for Alvin, we don't know where he is, we got separated during. We are just hoping he survived.

Blake was in shock from hearing this, but she didn't dare interrupt. Ryker sensed his mate's discomfort and wanted to ease her dismay, but I think that would be the last thing she wanted from him, right now.

"With the Captain gone and very few of us, everyone quickly started to lose hope. Eventually, people started leaving and going off on their seeking other colonies to join, even though Ivan and I advised against it. Soon it was down to just the two of us. We had very few supplies and we were lost wandering around aimlessly. One night we were camping in a gulch, it was cold and quiet. I will never forget it. We heard howling and the ground was shaking like something was heading toward us... and then they showed up. Werewolves with blood-red eyes appeared. They didn't look like the pack wolves we faced before. They were grosser and meaner, like all you could see in their expressions was their desire to kill. That's when all hell broke lose..."

Beth was starting to tremble from the bad memories. Ivan took it upon himself to continue the story while soothing his friend. "We were badly outnumbered and we didn't have many weapons on us. Two pistols, a bow, some arrows, and a machete. We fought for a while and then found small rock closure big enough for the two of us to squeeze through and lose the rogue. We made a run for it, I made sure Beth was in front of me, and that she got through. While I was crawling through the opening, one of the red-eyed werewolves bit me and was trying to drag me out. I was struggling and then I took my machete and jabbed it in the wolf's eye, killing it. We barely got away that night."

Everyone was silent for a moment after hearing this grim tale but Ryker was first to break the silence.

"Well it's pretty obvious, but you turning into a werewolf must be the result of you being bitten by that rogue."

"Rogue?" Ivan and Beth repeated with confused looks on their faces.

"It is a term used for wolves that are not part of a pack, usually because they were banished because of a crime they committed," Ryker explained. "To put it simply, they are bad wolves."

Beth gave out a humorless laugh. "All of you wolves are bad! You stole one of our best friends from us, terrorized our colony and chased us through all of what is left of California. To me, there are no differences between you guys and those 'Rogue' things!"

Ryker full-blown growled at the human female for dare comparing him and his pack to those emotionless creatures. Defending Beth, Ivan growled back at Ryker, but his growl didn't carry the same level of power as Ryker's did. Blake was feeling suffocated from all the tension. She got up from Ryker's lap and yelled at everyone to stop. She began explaining that what's done is done. Just then, the doors to the office burst open and Kelly came in with a wild look in her eyes looking all over the place. Ryker was about to tell her off, but what she said next stopped him cold as her eyes settled on what or who she was looking for.

"Mate!" She said looking at Ivan dead in the eyes.
