A few days had passed and things went back to their usual routine. Blake went back and sealed herself in her room and Ryker still had guards monitoring her, but it was a bit more relaxed. Now, that he had her marked, it would be even more difficult for Blake to leave him. Bright and early in the morning, Blake walked out of the packhouse and through the backyard. As she ventured through, Blake came across a huge lake. She saw a dock and decided to sit down and admire nature. It was like everything was all right in the world as she sat on the dock, like nothing of the apocalypse drama had been going.

While Blake looked on into the vast view of the lake, she heard footsteps behind her and turned to see that it was Kelly. Kelly took a seat next to her brother's mate and Blake turned her attention back to the lake. They sat in awkward silence and then Blake broke the silence by saying.

"I miss my Colony or more accurately, my friends," She said looking down at the water of the lake.

"What are they like?" Kelly asked out of curiosity.

"Well, there's Ivan, he is like a big brother to us, there is Alvin the lazy slacker, but quick-witted and Beth, well... Beth is Beth."

Kelly responded with an OK and the two fell into a comfortable silence.

"You should really give my brother a chance, you know..." Kelly broke the silence

"I... I just don't know," Blake admitted. "I mean I thought I could hate him because he was supernature, but it turns out that I am supernatural. So I am a bit turned around at how I am supposed to feel."

"Well, you better come to an understanding and soon," Kelly responded with.

Blake asked what did she meant by that and Kelly suddenly looked rather awkward about the subject. Blake asked what she meant again but in a more serious tone.

"Well," Kelly dragged out. "Since you are not a wolf and are new to the mating process. You should know that there are stages that every mated couple goes through. #1 Marking. In this case, you already know about it. And #2... Mating..."

"Mating?"

"Yes, you know... Doing the dirty deed."

"I'm sorry, what?!" Blake exclaimed from shock. "There's no way I am sleeping with your brother! No offense."

"None taken," Kelly assured her waving her hand dismissively. "But, it's going to happen one way or the other."

Blake crossed her arms and asked Kelly how could she be so sure. Which brought up the part of the mating process, Heat.

"Heat occurs when two mates haven't... you know... "sealed the deal" within the first few days or weeks of them finding each other," Kelly explained further. "It makes the female, which is you, extremely horny and very sex-driven. So you won't be able to think about anything besides jumping Ryker's bones.

Blake gaped at this new information and let out a frustrated groan. "Great! What else could go wrong."

As if on cue, the pack wolves that were on Luna guard duty came up behind the girls.

"Luna, Lady Kelly," one of the warriors addressed them.

"What is it? Can't you see we are in the middle of a private conversation?" An irritated Kelly questioned the warrior.

"I am sorry for the interruption, but the Alpha ordered us to bring you two back to the packhouse right away." The warrior informed them.

"What? Why?" Kelly asked a bit confused.

"Vampires have entered the territory from the west border and are closing,"

"That can't be! Vampires rarely come around these parts," Kelly replied with disbelief. "And now they are attacking us. This is a bold move for them. Why now?"

"We don't know, but what we do know is that we have orders to get you two inside, now!" The other, slightly bulker warrior responded.

The group quickly shifted into there wolves, except for Blake, who rode one of the warriors back and made it to the packhouse. Upon arrival, everything seemed lifeless, no a soul could be found outside.

"Blake come on!" Kelly grabbed her arm dragging her towards the packhouse.

"Hey where is everyone?" Blake sais as they entered the mansion-like house.

"Everyone else is in the safe rooms. We have to get moving. Vampires are nasty business. The warriors are at the border fending them off."

"So wait, you guys just expect me to hide like some coward?"

Blake wrenched her arm out of Kelly's grip and walked in the opposite direction. Kelly, trying to find out had gotten into her friend, followed her trying to talk her out of this. She asked Blake where is was going and she responded with simply outside.

"Blake are you crazy?!" Kelly exclaimed with the warriors following in toe.

"No, and I know what I'm doing," Blake replied.

"Blake you are going to get yourself-"

"LISTEN!" Blake yelled cutting of Kelly. "I am a former scout of a colony. Dealing with vampires was a common, everyday thing for us."

Admitting that she was no longer part of her colony, left a weird feeling on Blake's tongue. However, she wanted to put her talents to good use and help out. She couldn't explain it, but she felt a connection to this pack and didn't want to see it suffer.
