On the day of that heated argument between Blake and Alpha Ryker, Blake was placed in a guest room in the packhouse, under lockdown. When the Alpha stated that she would be sleeping with him, Blake refused immediately, found an empty room, and called it her own. She barracked the door, so Ryker couldn't get in. But it was probably useless though, considering him being a werewolf. He could knock down the door and the barrack along with, like dominos, with his monstrous strength.Maybe he was going to give her some space to come to terms with what will happen. And if that was the case, he had another thing coming.
In the last couple of days, Blake has been either doing daily exercises to keep in shape or laying in her bed reminiscing about her colony. She missed her friends very much but made this sacrifice so that they could live on for another day in that cruel world, instead of being trapped here. A selfish, lone tear descended upon her face, then she quickly wiped it away. She didn't want to cry, because she thought what she did was right and she also thought that tears would betray her beliefs. Throughout the day, there would be food brought up to her room by the maids and Blake would eat alone.
Rather than spending another second in this room, Blake decided that she wanted out. But Blake knew that if she stepped out that door she would eventually have to face Ryker. She shivered at the possibility and looked for another way out. Then she saw the window. It was the most overly used exit strategy, but still effective. She was on the second floor, so it wasn't so high. She then opened the window, jumped, and landed perfectly outside with no one noticing a thing.
She looked around and everything looked peaceful. The warmed summer sun on her skin, the nice, gentle breeze on her face, and then she breathed in that fresh air. It was like the world the apocalypse never happened.
"Can't catch me!" Shouted a child, bringing Blake back to reality."Oh yeah?" Shouted another.
Blake started to walk around the field and saw all the wolves and some humans too. Humans who weren't turned yet. But they all looked happy. However, to Blake, they were sellouts to their species. They all looked peaceful, some were gardening, others chatting about the day's hot topics and children were running around full of energy.
Blake continued her walk through the field, trying to blend in with the crowd and hoping that she wouldn't be discovered. Walking along, Blake found a whole different area on the field. She saw what looked like a fitness field of a gym, with werewolves working out and training. She wandered further to get a better look and found some wolves sparring. She walked up a little closer to get a better view of the spectacle. When Blake saw enough, she chuckled quietly to herself.
Blake suddenly walked to the ring, slow-clapping, and the wolves stopped to see what was happening. Blake stopped a couple of feet away from them and then planted her hands on her hips.
"Who says you can teach dumb dogs new tricks?" Blake teased and the wolves growled at her joke.
"Can we help you, human?" One of the wolves growled out his question.
"Nope, just thought you boys could use some advice,"
"What makes you think that need help from a human and from a female, no less," The same wolf laughed and the others joined.
"Ignoring that. You might like to consider it since it's kinda ironic for an animal to claim they could fight better than a human in human form," Blake countered.
"Whatever," Then they turned away from her and resumed their training.
Blake decided to watch closer and she still saw a few flaws in their technique and walked up to the werewolf that insulted her.
"Hey, you!" Blake pointed at the guy. "What's your name?"
The wolf looked away for a few seconds and resumed, but answered her "Brad."
"Well, Brad..." Blake smirked. "Allow me to point out that your stance is off."
Brad froze in mid-punch, his body tense. The other male wolves all looked at Blake like she had a death wish. Werewolves are proud creatures, but they are also cocky and ignorant. To disrespect a wolf is like spitting at their pride, which they hate the most. But Blake couldn't care less about it.
"What did you say, female?" Brad snarled out the question.
"You have super-hearing, right? So I assumed you heard me," Said Blake in a sassy tone. "And I can show you what I mean."
Blake got into a fighting stance and the other wolves' astonishment grew more with this girl. They didn't know whether she was brave or just plain stupid. Brad smirked and took a position.
"A simple hand-to-hand fight. If you can pin your opponent for five seconds, you win," Blake explained the conditions. "However, you are not allowed to use your wolfy powers. You wanted to prove you can fight like a human, now's your chance."
"Fine, just don't cry when I beat you or complain that you broke a nail," Brad said cheekily.
Unfortunately for him, Brad was confusing Blake for a totally different breed of female. Blake's a well-seasoned fighter, not some pampered, spoiled daddy's girl.
It was silent for a while, they were sizing up each other. Then Brad lunged. He started off with a right hook, but Blake saw that and easily avoided it. That caused Brad to stumble a bit and Blake, round-house kicked him and Brad fell flat on his face. The gang of wolves couldn't believe their eyes, they were watching one of their own getting bested by a human. Brad stood back up and he was even angrier. He rushed her, throwing punches from left to right, but Blake managed to dodge them, leg-swiping Brad and sending him crashing to the ground, again.
Then, Blake rolled Brad over so that he was now lying on his stomach with her foot, straddled him, and had Brad's right arm in an arm hold.
One of the wolves started counting down to 5. Brad tried desperately to shake off Blake, but she stuck on like glue. The countdown came to 5 and Blake stepped off of Brad's back, with a victorious smirk.
"How?" Brad was bewildered, as he got back on his feet. "How could a mere human, a female no less, beat me?"
"A couple of reasons," Blake shrugged. "First your stance, you put too much support on your front leg, when you really should have a balance for the two. Second, you rush your opponents to force them on the defensive. That's not the best strategy for all of enemies, try to be more adaptable. And finally, you underestimate your opponents, overconfident is every living being's undoing, get rid of that. So... reflect on those, 'kay."
Brad was stunned by how Blake was evaluating him. When he was about to reply, he and all the other wolves' eyes glazed over. Blake was confused by this and until all the wolves snapped out of it and looked panicked.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Blake asked, gaining attention of Brad.
"The Alpha has reported that the Luna is missing and wants her found, quickly." He explained.
"Yeah... Well... you see..." Blake mumbled awkwardly. "I am the Luna."
With her words sinking in, everyone looked at her wide-eyed.
"YOU ARE THE LUNA!" Brad asked a bit spooked by this.
"Yeah,"
Then a powerful growl sounded out behind her.
A/N.
