Learning about Werewolves

(Anna's P.O.V.)

When I entered the DADA classroom with Hermione, (using the time turner) Professor Lupin wasn't there. Instead, Professor Snape stood in his place. Pansy was sitting in my seat, next to Draco, with a smirk. Daphne was next to Blaise, so the only free seat was next to Isabella.

"When did you get here?" she asked, startled.

I smiled mischievously. "I've been here all this time."

Snape pulled down a screen over the blackboard and turned to face us. "Turn to page 394." he said emotionlessly.

"Excuse me, sir, but...where's Professor Lupin?" Harry asked.

"That's not really your concern, is it, Potter? Suffice it to say, your Professor finds himself incapable of teaching at the present time. Page 394." Snape ordered.

Ron frowned at his book, just as a picture of an ancient woodcut of a beast came on the screen. "Werewolves?"

"But, sir, we've only just begun learning about Red Caps and Hinkypunks. We're not meant to start nocturnal beasts for weeks-" Hermione started.

"Quiet!" Snape said to her.

Ron looked around until he saw me. Then, he spoke to Harry. "When did they come in? Did you see them come in?" Harry shrugged, looking stunned as well.

"Now. Which of you can tell me the difference between an Animagus and a werewolf?" Snape looked around at the class.

I obviously knew the answer, but I didn't raise my hand because Snape wouldn't call on anyone. Hermione perhaps didn't know that, because she was waving her hand around, trying to get the professor's attention.

"No one? How...disappointing." Snape tutted.

"Please, sir, an Animagus is a wizard who elects to turn into an animal. A werewolf has no choice in the matter. With each full moon, when he transforms, he no longer remembers who he is. Kill his best friend if you cross his path. Furthermore, the werewolf actively hunts humans and responds only to the call of its own kind-" Hermione tried to explain. Draco let out a low howl, and almost everyone in Slytherin snickered.

"Thank you, Mr Malfoy. Though one must admit to feeling your pain. That is the second time you have spoken out of turn, Miss Granger. Tell me. Are you incapable of restraining yourself? Or do you take pride in being an insufferable know-it-all?"

"He's got a point, you know," Ron whispered to Harry as Hermione looked down.

"Five points from Gryffindor." He turned to the class. "As an antidote to your ignorance, I prescribe two rolls of parchment on the werewolf by Monday morning, with particular emphasis placed on recognizing it." While Snape was talking, Draco had drawn a picture of Harry getting struck with lightning over and over again. He folded it to a bird and blew it to Harry.

"But, sir, it's Quidditch tomorrow," Harry said in a dismayed voice.

Snape came over to him. "Then I suggest you take extra care, Mr Potter. Loss of limb will not excuse you. Page 394." He walked over to the back of the classroom. "Term werewolf is a contraction of the anglo-saxon word, were and wolf..." while he was talking, I saw Harry look at the drawing Draco had sent him. He looked at it, then at me, his expression reading, Will this happen?

I was deep in thought about Professor Lupin when Hermione ran over. "Anna!"

I jumped. "Oh, hi, Hermione. Quite the Defense class, right?"

She nodded. "Yeah. No offence, but Snape can really be annoying. Do you think I'm an insufferable know-it-all? I heard what Ron said to Harry; I'm not deaf! Besides, I was literally right next to them!" Hermione kept complaining.

"Hermione! Calm down. I don't think you're an insufferable know-it-all, and I know that Ron and Harry are idiots for saying that." I said.

She sighed. "Right, okay. Anyway, I wasn't here to annoy you with my complaints. I was just wondering if you, um, noticed something...odd about, you know, Professor Lupin getting ill?"

"No...but I did notice that he always gets ill on full moons." I replied.

"Is that all?" Hermione asked. "Alright. See you in class."

A/N ~

Yes, Anna knows something is up. I originally didn't plan on this, but she's observant.
