Sirius and Harry were holding Ron from under their arms and brought him back out of the Shack. Lupin had Pettigrew in a firm and steady grasp while they walked behind Hermione and me.
"Sorry 'bout the bite," Sirius said to Ron. "I reckon it twinges a bit."
"A bit?" Ron exclaimed. "A bit?! You almost chopped my leg off!"
"Ronald, might I remind you that Sirius was aiming for the rat, not you or your leg?" Hermione said to Ron.
"She's right." Sirius agreed with a nod. "Now, normally, I have a very sweet disposition as a dog. In fact, more than once, James suggested that I make the change permanent. The tail I can live with, but the fleas...they murder."
I smirked at Hermione. "Hey, Hermione, are you worried about Ron? It must have hurt when Sirius bit his leg."
"Well, of course, I was worried! It's not much of a big harm, but...yes, it must have hurt a lot. Oh, I do hope he doesn't get an infection." Hermione said.
I grinned, and Hermione must have realized what she had said.
"But-but well you must have been worried, too. He's your best friend, not just mine." she sputtered.
"Yeah, sure. Of course, he's closer to you than he is with me so...anyway I've got my Slytherin besties. What about when you hugged him?" I replied.
"Huh? What? When did I hug him?" Hermione seemed genuinely confused.
"Are you kidding? You literally cried into his shoulder after Buckbeak, you know..." I didn't want to bring up the conversation about Buckbeak, but Hermione only seemed to be paying attention to the "crying on his shoulder" comment.
"Yes, well, there was no one else to hug." Hermione came up with a lame excuse.
"Sureeeeee," I smirked at her, and she looked away. But I could have sworn I saw her smile.
We got out from underground and Ron was placed on a rock.
"You better go," Ron said to me and Harry. Sirius was walking towards the Hogwarts castle, gazing up at it as Ron said it.
"No!" I said. "It's fine."
"We'll stay," Harry added.
"You go, and we'll stay," Hermione said pointing to herself and Ron.
As Harry nodded and pulled me away towards Sirius, I smirked at Hermione and said, "Have fun,"
She rolled her eyes playfully and looked away. Ron just looked confused.
Harry and I walked over to Sirius, who was gazing up at the Hogwarts castle. "Beautiful, isn't it? I'll never forget the first time I walked through those doors. It'll be nice to do it again. Freely." Sirius added. He smiled at it for a moment then turned to us. "You know, that was a noble thing you did back there, Harry. Not that he deserves it."
