Kuroo slept over that night and watched over Kenma to make sure he would be okay.
-next morning-
Kenma's POV :
"Pancakes are way better than waffles!"
"Says who?"
"People and... me."
"Well those people are idiots." Kuroo made an offended expression with a gasp at my comment. "I said what I said." I state proudly. He laughs as he sits beside me on the couch.
"I thought we would wake up to your aunt being here?" He asks looking around the apartment to make sure she's not listening. I let out a small chuckle at his need to make a good boyfriend impression.
"She's out, went to do a meeting about the Japan youth competition." I assure him.
"Oh yeah that's in 2 weeks, you ready?"
"Yeah, but it honesty doesn't matter if I'm ready, I'm still hella nervous."
...
-Next day-
The Japan youth competition, dancers from all around Japan come and compete in over 10 different styles. Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Breakdancing, Contemporary, African dancing, Belly dancing, anything and everything you can imagine.
Me and Akaashi are doing a duet. I'm doing a solo. Emi, Aiko and Haruki are doing a trio. And I'm really excited for this one... my students are doing a group dance.
I have one group of students I teach, my only group. I got 5 students : Hanako, Kameki, Katashi, Midori and Rei. I'm making them a choreography and their gonna compete, and they're really good so I believe in them.
And shut up, I'm not being cute.
All my students are different, which is what makes them such good friends.
"Okay guy! What do we need to work on?" I say while they gather up around me.
"Keep our heads high!" Katashi answers. I nod and look around asking for others answers.
"Being sharp!" Midori adds.
"Yes, what else?" I gesture something to give them a hint.
"Timing!" Rei signs enthusiastically.
"Yes Rei! Timing, count the beats and follow the music! Last thing is..."
They smirk.
"Have fun!" They all say and Rei signs.
My students may be good kids, but they also come with their own set of differences that may need accommodations. My student Rei, is mute. So I learnt sign to make her more comfortable. My student Hanako has sensory issues, so I don't play the music to loud and when it's time to compete or go on stage, I give him earplugs so that the loud music doesn't overwhelm him.
Again, shut up, I'm just being considerate.
"Okay from the top!" I restart the music and watch them. They move in sync, their movements are sharp and have a lot of attitude, smiles are imprinted on their faces, and on mine.
Midori messes up a move but doesn't stop. He realizes what he did wrong, corrects, and moves on, just like I taught him.
During his cartwheel, Kameki slips and falls. Im about to go see if he's hurt when he gets up and just keeps dancing, just like I taught him.
God I love my students.
We go over the dance, over and over to make it perfect. When class ends and most of my students leave, Rei comes up to me and taps my shoulder.
"Hmm? Yes Rei?" I turn around and get to the girls height.
"Are you going to be competing with Akaashi-san at the competition?" She signs with hopeful eyes.
"Yes, I will be. I'll also be doing a solo." I say and her face lights up.
"Really?! What kind of solo?" She signs excitedly.
"Ballet, why you want to come watch?"
She aggressively nods. I chuckle. "Well, my number is..." I pause to take out my phone and check the schedule of the competition. "Number 34, so I'm 5 numbers after you for my number with Akaashi, and I'm 9 numbers after you for my solo." She smiles.
"Cool! I'll be there to watch every one of your numbers!" She gestures.
"You know, Emi, Aiko and Haruki will also be competing." Her jaw drops in shock.
"A trio? What type?" She tilts her head.
"Breakdance" her eyes light up again.
"Really?! That's gonna be so awesome! Emi-san, Aiko-san and Haru-san are so good at breakdance!" She signs so quickly while excited I almost don't understand.
"They are 10 numbers before you so you guys can come watch them too!" I state and she nods. "Okay, I'll see you in two days at our next class okay?" She nods and waves before running away with a skip in her step.
"Man she's adorable." I sigh out when I see the door open by the corner of my eye.
Kuroo walks in.
"Hey baby!" He says coming towards me as I pack up.
"Hey."
"I saw you with that young girl, that interaction was adorable. But how do you talk to her if she doesn't talk?" He asked innocently.
"Oh Rei is mute, she speaks to me with sign." I say nonchalantly.
"You know sign?" I nod. "Wow, impressive. And adorable." I roll my eyes.
"So you want to hang out?" I ask and he takes my wrist as we run out of the studio to hang out.
