It had been a week since it happened. One week. But it felt like one whole year. It had been one week since Batwoman's - Brenna's - death, and Terencia McGinnis-Wayne was falling apart.
Teri wasn't known to be in control under peer pressure. It was a known fact that she was Brenna Wayne's heir, maybe not to the economic throne, but to the cowl(1). It was all over the news as well: Now that the Bat was gone, someone had to step up to the position. And that someone was none other than Nightwing.
Now, if Teri was a little more like Damia, she would've taken the responsibility in a heartbeat. But, Teri was Teri, and she was nervous. She needed to talk to someone. And she knew exactly who to go to.

Cameron Cain heard a knock on his bedroom door. "Who there?" he asked in broken English. "It's me, Teri," came the answer. "Ter?" Cam asked. "Yeah... Can I come in?" she asked.
"'Course." Cameron unlocked the door and Teri walked in, closing the door behind her. The boy turned to his sister, and gasped.
The young woman's hair was unkempt. Her azure orbs were tired and pained. There were bags under her eyes. It seemed as if she hadn't eaten or slept in a week. In short, Teri looked like a mess.
"Teri not well?" Cam inquired. "No, Cam," Teri answered, "Teri not well." She sat down on his bed. Cam sat down next to her. "What wrong?" Cameron asked. "Teri tell Cameron."
Teri bit her lip, then sighed. "It's about the legacy, Cam," Teri told him. "I'm not ready." Cam looked over at his sister. "Teri no ready?" he inquired. "I'm not ready to take on the cowl, Cam," Teri answered. She sighed again, looking down.
"It's just..." she trailed off, tears in her eyes. "What if I'm not a good Batwoman?" she finally said after a moment of silence. Cam frowned, then wrapped his arm around Teri's shoulder and pulled her close to him. He pushed her head up.
"Teri, you delusional," he said.
"Huh?" Teri was at a loss for words.
"Teri aster Nightwing. Teri be aster Batwoman. Teri need be traught. Teri need stay whelm."
Teri giggled at the use of Dixie's words. Cameron smiled. "Thanks, Cam," Teri said, hugging the boy. "You're right. I will be an asterous Batwoman, I'm sure of it."

I think I'll leave it there.
More Cameron Cain. Yay. I hope I got him right. I've never written Cassandra, let alone a boy version of her.
Stay Traught!
