Chapter 3: Conversations
The car ride took forever.
In my mind it did at least. Chanel's constant blabbering from the backseat gave me the migraine of the century. Talking about some designer clothes or her dad not buying her a range rover for her first A or some shit. After a while, it all became white noise.
Damn I really don't see how Dax can stand that. But I guess it's all in that super power restraint.
I didn't even notice when we pulled into a parking space at school. Chanel jumped out without a word and ran to her little beauty pageant friends before Dax could even get out of the car.
"Bye. Text me at 3rd period." She shouted as she was walking away, then hesitated and turned around to face him again. "Actually, I'm pretty booked till like, lunch. So... I'll see you at the end of the day." She flashed him another fake smile and pranced away.
"B-bye" Dax stuttered. "I love you.." He said quietly. Oh HELL NO. I got out of the car slamming the door; I stood right in front of him looking upwards right into his eyes. My height really isn't helping me at the moment. I slapped him straight across the face then folded my arms and looked at him in disbelief. The people passing by us suddenly started rushing towards their destinations.
"Are you fucking insane. You need to book a goddamn time to see your girlfriend? And you're OK with that?!"
Dax was rubbing his cheek. His eyes were wet. Shame, I didn't mean to slap him that hard. Just enough to pop some sense back into him.
"I-I.. I didn't say that I was OK with it.." He was stuttering again.
"Then why the hell won't you say something? Why do you take that kind of shit treatment, D?" He looked down. "And you still love that thing?" I kept questioning him. He was still silent.
He finally said something but didn't look up from his shoes which currently held so much of his attention. "She's my girlfriend Dev.."
"That's sad D. That's a really sick excuse." I sighed and walked to the backseat and pulled out my bag to sling it over my shoulder and walked away to the entrance of the school building.

I walked down the busy hallway. Shit. There are way too many people here that I dislike. I ruffled my golden brown, long curly hair with my hands and pulled it back. One of my rings got caught in one of the springs. "Ugh.. fuck." I grumbled, fidgeting with my bush of hair in frustration, about to pull it out when I hear a familiar voice calling me from the crowd behind me.
"Dev!" I heard within the swarm. I heard my name again, closer this time and saw a smiling face popping up in between rushing students.
"Hey Dev! Oh shit, your caught. Lemme help." Jayde. Aka my piercing buddy was helping me out of my situation that I soon got loose of with her help.
"Thanks man." I said crossing my arms across my chest and walking forward. Jayde kept up with me. "Why are you so peppy today?" I criticized. My mood defiantly wasn't getting any better.
"OOOHHH nothing..." She said and smiled. She was defiantly lying to me.
Jayde was one of my other best friends along with Dax, Dai, Ché and Kamille. She's also known as my piercing buddy because most of what I got done I went with her and she got the same done as well. But I beat her. Naturally.
I cocked an eyebrow at her. What could she possibly be hiding from me?
She still had a cocky smile on her face. She stuck out her pierced tongue at me. One of the piercings we got done together I might add.
"Fine, don’t tell me. See if I give a shit." I said as I strided in front of her with my head held high. I finally reached my locker which I stood infront of for a while trying to remember my combination.
"Finnnee I'll tell you." She said sarcastically, rolling her eyes as she lent against the lockers next to mine. I thew some books in and looked at her. I stood there. Waiting. And she just stared at me.
"Well what the hell is it!" I almost screamed. God she was being annoying today.
"OK. WEELLLL..." She began. She was stalling. She did this alot when she was shy of saying something. She grabbed a lock of her shoulder length light brown hair and started twirling it around her finger. I was getting even more irritated. I tensed my jaw and looked up to the ceiling then looked back at her face. She looked so innocent. But she could tell I was getting pissed.
"Alright now before you explode," She said smiling. She was smiling too much for my liking today. "More like implode." I said in monotone.
"Alright. Well. You know how me and Ché have kinda had this thing.." Ché and Jayde have become increasingly close the past few weeks. More than usual. We're all pretty close already. But we all noticed that they had "more-than-a-friend" type chemistry.
"Mhm." I said again in monotone. I don't mean to be a downer today it's just that I really don't want to be at school more than usual.
"Well yesterday we went out and he took me to this cute little gelato shop a little ways out of town and we went walking along this cute little path that weaves between these trees.." I felt like I was dosing off but then found myself suddenly wide awake with the words, "..and then he kissed me!".
"Aw that's really cute Jay." I gave her a small smile. I'm not much of the mushy type but I'm happy for her. And Ché.
"AHHH I'M SO HAPPY!!!!" Jayde was jumping up and down screaming. I've never seen her this happy over something that happened within her own personal life. Jayde likes to help people through their own problems and relationships, so it's nice to see her have something for herself for a change.
"He'd better not do anything dafter than usual, otherwise Imma fuck him up." This was a sentence that I've stated many times in the past. and most people know that I follow through with my promises. Strictly.
"I don't even know whether or not we're even, you know.. together."
"I'm just saying if he starts acting up.." I trailed off
"Yes, yes. I knoooww, you'll fuck him up."
"Good." I said with satisfaction. "Now that you know, all I have to do is make it apparent to him." I smiled slyly as I slammed my locker and turned the opposite direction towards my english lit class.
