Chapter 5: Bow-tie
Walking through the halls again towards the cafeteria, my head was in a muddle. My classes went by in such a blur, I don't even remember what I had today. I just really wanted to eat something.
As I walked into the cafeteria I had to maneuver my way to the table I spotted my friends at. People were throwing things at each other, screaming and shouting. It looked like a fucking jungle. My friends were smartly placed on the other side of the room away from the chaos. Once I got closer I saw who was sitting there. Dai, Kamille, Jayde and Ché. Dax was nowhere to be seen. I turned my head to the table in the middle of the room. The table where all the jocks, cheerleaders and supposed "popular" people sat. I spotted Chanel, no surprise there. I turned my head slightly to find Dax walking towards the table with two lunch trays.
I slammed my bag on our table and turned around to walk in his direction. He had just put one of the trays down in front of the little princess. I stormed over to him and grabbed his wrist, yanking him back towards where the rest of us were sitting. As I walked I heard gasps coming from the table behind us. I obviously was the only person who had ever took a stand against the barbie dolls and they're posse. I made him sit down on the bench as I did as well.
"So, you’re ditching us to be her little butler instead?" I said in a cocky tone. My arms folded across my chest. I sat there staring at him waiting for an answer.
"Dev, calm down." Kamille said placing her hand on my back. I shrugged it off.
"I have to go." I wasn't in the mood to explode my inner angst on the situation to all of them. Solely because I wasn't in the mood for everyone to justify Dax's actions. 'Oh, but they're together' 'Oh, Dax can choose where he wants to spend his time'. These were the excuses that I knew they would've come up with.
I grabbed a bag of chips and a sandwich from the rack and paid for it at the counter, I'd eat it later. What I just witnessed put me off food for a while. As I walked out of the cafeteria, I pulled my phone out of my pocket.
"Hey Ralph?" I spoke into the mouth piece.
"What's up D?" Ralph's raspy voice replied from the other end of the line.
"I'm gunna swing by to check up on my car. Is that cool?" I needed an excuse to get out of this hell hole. One more hour and I would surely pop.
"Sure. It's about ready." I heard him say cheerfully.
"Cool. I'll be over in like 30 minutes." And with that I walked out of the main entrance doors to the school with a smirk.

The auto shop was all the way across town. I had to take 2 buses to get there. I walked up to the shop door and went straight back to the garage. As I walked through, the younger guys stared and whistled. I hate to be looked at like I'm a piece of meat. A shiver went down my spine out of repulsion. I turned around to give them all one of my famous ice cold glares. They were all frozen on the spot. I carried on walking. Testosterone is poison.
I looked around to see if I could spot Ralph. But I found my car instead.
I ran over to it excitedly, kinda of resembling a kid on Christmas morning. Once I got a few feet away, I admired it. The Bug had a beautiful new glossy mellow-yellow coat, it was perfect.
"That's a pretty Beetle." An deep unknown voice with a strange accent came out of nowhere.
I spun around. A tall, built guy was standing currently in front of me. He had broad shoulders, he obviously worked out, and when I say he's tall, he is tall. He's probably like 6'2 or 3. That's saying something compared to my 5 feet. Yes. I am extremely short.
